And that D10 ends Round 1 of the 2017 World Cup of Darts, and it's been another night of largely decent action.

The only upset of the evening came with the hosts as Germany dumped out the intolerable Northern Ireland in a fascinating encounter that went down to a deciding leg. Max Hopp's blunder bust on 97 for a 2-0 lead was instantly punished by Daryl Gurney who then smacked in a wonderful 124 to put Norn Iron ahead. There was never more than one leg between the teams as Hopp hit his own monster finish of 123 to tie it back up at 3-3. Gurney missed one at D12 for victory before the least experienced man on the stage - Martin Schindler - hit D10 to secure a famous win for the emerging darts nation. I've not mentioned Brendan Dolan because fuck him.

The other seeds had fairly easy victories, with Austria not even allowing China a dart at double in a 5-0 hammering. The Netherlands, with an injured MVG, still managed a ridiculous 109.33 average in their thumping of the Czech Republic, with Frantisek Humpula's 121 the only finish for the Czechs who performed admirably at the might of the Autism Express driven by a diabetic postman. England made a 5-2 win over Gibraltar look a complete struggle, especially Adrian Lewis; Snackpot was appalling tonight, completely off in all aspects of his game. Dave Chisnall on debut saved Snackpot, who should know better.

The non-seed matches saw Canada's ABSOLUTE MADMAN John Norman Jnr tag along with John Part in a grinding win over Hungary, USA's elderly men didn't embarrass themselves for once with a 5-1 victory over Italy, South Africa nearly threw away a 4-1 lead over Sweden but held on, and an emotional last leg victory for Brazil over fellow first timers Switzerland.
