a player can't control what era they play in. They didn't have access to the same funding and advanced medicine we do today. You can't write off an era of football just because you didn't like it or see it.

the game will continue to change and athletes will continue to get better. That doesn't mean what Brady has done will be meaningless in 15-20 years.

they're also getting more help than they used, better coaches, more money to improve fitness, etc. Society is set up better for them to be better athletes because sports are making tons of more money now.

I'm not ready to say Johnny Manziel should be considered better than guys in the hall of fame just because he played more recently. Unitas was better than his peers he played against. Brady was better than his peers he played against. Both should be well regarded.
>>
>>76263908
Now look up how many players have played on a surgically repaired but not fully healed knee. Hint: the number is similar to the letter O.

>>76263931
>Both should be well regarded
That's for sure, and I'm not saying Manziel is better than... anyone, really. I was just talking about players in the same historical tier (both dominated their eras).

Of course it's just my pov, not saying it's the truth. I get why someone would just judge them by their impact and dominance in their time but I just feel that as the players get better in all those aspects (fitness, coaching, etc) it gets harder and it has even more merit to be the best. That's just me.

I don't even like the Eagles, he may very well suck, but the fact that the team put more on his plate than either the 49ers or Chiefs did with Smith in any point of his career isn't up for much debate given the fact that, you know, Wentz had to pass 100 more times than Alex did the year he threw most passes.

Also he didn't play very well but he didn't have the luxury of having a top 10 defense with him like Smith has had his last 7 seasons.

He couldn't handle it the way a great QB would, obviously, but for a rookie with bad weapons around him it's not a bad start. 7-9 isn't terrible at all for that team.

Again, he could never fix his mechanics and end up being like Bortles but I don't see how his first year was that tragic.

And 7-9 is slightly better than 4-12.

Well his head coach was Smith's OC for 3 years. I'd say similarities in the systems are normal.

>>76281508
Just saying Wentz's treatment was different. He has a good chance of never being on Smith's level, especially if he doesn't fix his mechanics.
>>
>>76281328
He threw the ball 5 yards at a time 60 times a game and every time he tried to go deep he would sail it or get piked off, how is that any better than Alex Smith?
>>
>>76281593
But, again, I'm not saying he's better than Smith or that he played better. Just that the Eagles put more on his plate. He has problems and has to develop and fix a lot of things and he may very well not do so and be a mediocre QB all his career. But he didn't have the luxury of a viable running game, or targets with something that resembles hands and won 7 games as a rookie, it wasn't pretty for a long stretch of the season but it wasn't THAT bad.

Brady wasn't a rookie when he won a Super Bowl, I'm not talking about that. Just that the phrase reminded me of how useless it's been recently in the majority of the cases.

>>76283051
The transition from college to pro systems should make for less rookie QBs starting, with worse performances from the average. It's the opposite.

Mahomes has a established QB ahead of him but in the majority of cases, not winning the job either day 1 or early in their 1st season is very bad news.

>>76283090
Just look at every QB that didn't play much in their 1st year since Rodgers was drafted 12 seasons ago.

Those are all the first or second round QBs who got to sit their first year (in some cases they played a couple meaningless games at the end but nothing more) and we already know who they are (so, no Garoppolo, Hackenshit or Lynch).

Not a single one worth a damn.
>>
>>76283272
And Tyrod Taylor sit for even more. But 4th or 6th round picks aren't supposed to play anyway. I'm talking about picks high enough to have a realistic shot at starting.
>>
>>76283275
Most Quarterbacks ARE busts. that's why there are so few good ones you fucking idiot.

>Bortles
>Gabbert
>Ponder
>Young

more if I looked it up, but smart organizations have a guy sit behind their established guy so when their guy gets too old they're not in quarterback hell.
>>
>>76283275
I agree, that's why I say it's a non factor. Coaches adapt to the weapons they have, two QBs rarely play on the same system, no such thing as learning the game from the bench.
>>
>>76283368
pls nigga, Rodgers threw 30 tds his first year as a starter. He wouldn't have done that as a true rookie.
>>
>>76283400
and what exactly did he learn from the bench?
>>
>>76283419
how to not throw a million picks
>>
>>76283438
By the time he started, I'm pretty sure he could have figured that out all by himself.
>>
>>76283357
I listed literally every first or second round pick after Rodgers that sit in his first year, and ZERO of them were anything else than a pile of shit. ZERO. The best of the bunch is Jason fucking Campbell ffs.

And there are at least 10 teams without an established QB, who coincidentially are the ones that tend to pick one in the draft, and the teams that do have one don't draft another with a high pick until they're old. Gee! How strange the Packers didn't draft a QB between Rodgers' 1st year as a starter and Hundley, they must be a bad organization.

>>76283368
Yeah, if a guy is good he's good, if he's bad, give him a year on the bench and he'll still be bad.

>>76283400
While leading the Packers to a 6-10 record with a team the year before was a Favre brain fart away from playing the Super Bowl.

>>76283438
Wilson threw for 26 TDs, two less than Rodgers, with less picks, better %, better ypa.

And how did Rodgers learn how not to throw a million picks, watching Favre how to actually throw them?
>>
>>76283476
>>76283438

Yeah, I read about that being a problem for Rodgers his first years. I think he would've played better in a long stretch than the small sample size he did his first two seasons but we'll never know. But he was able to sit because he had a HoFer over him, I'm not saying teams shouldn't draft the heir but that QBs that can't start for teams that don't have an established presence usually mean trouble.

Every freakin' time with this shit. Just let it die.
tl;dr at bottom

Not that politics ISN'T a part of why teams aren't signing him, but he just isn't a great quarterback. He's OK at best, and because of that, it's not worth taking on the media load of having him on the team. It will plain cause distractions. He has every right to express his political opinion (although I think it's a dumb one), but the fact of the matter is he fell from grace after Harbaugh left and the team crumbled around him. He was exposed for a gimmick/meme and he lost the starting job to fucking GABBERT, who couldn't make it on the fucking JAGS.

And yeah, if there was no political shit storm surrounding him, some teams might have been more willing to consider signing him, but those would have been mediocre or bad teams desperate for a QB that would have had to tailor their offenses to him to make him successful. It's better for those teams to find a journeyman willing to take a smaller salary for a year or two (and who they don't have to cater their offense to), or just take a chance on someone in the draft than to take a system QB who would probably demand a bigger contract which would force the team's hand into starting him (e.g. Brock Osweiler).

tl;dr
>Not worth bad publicity (risk-reward)
>Knowingly brought shitstorm on self
>System/Harbaugh/defense babby
>W/out politics, still not worth it to sign him b/c he'd probably demand big contract citing playoff appearances or whatever

The problem with Kaep isn't his politics. It's that he's really, really, dumb.

He's a dumb football player, but very physically talented. But really, really dumb. There's tape of him not even seeing receivers that are unaccounted for by the defense.

He's a dumb activist. His heart is in the right place, but he's talked about not voting as activism and that is really really dumb. Teams don't really care about le race issues, but are afraid he will say something really really dumb. Because Kaep is really really dumb.

And that's why he won't be on a team for a while. Cuz Colin Kaepernick is really, really, earth shatteringly stupid.

>>

>>
>>76287961
Well last year I was a Broncos fan. I cheer for whoever wins the Super Bowl.
>>
>>76287996
Nice good choice my friend. I usually cheer for the team that loses the superbowl so I can still root for a team that has a chance while also being contrarian.

I usually buy gear of both teams then put on the one that wins. Sometimes I just get lazy and get those half team x/half team y jerseys.

>>
>>76288073

>>
>>76259482
And nothing of value was lost.
>>
>>76288192
I own gear for teams that don't exist yet. I can tell you the Neo-Tokyo Red Carp win Super Bowl MCMXVII.
>>
I'm an Eagles fan. But I don't want Maclin back...
>>
>>76288346
Tough shit, you're getting Maclin AND Chip Kelly back.
>>
the 49ers are going to sign maclin just to add another receiver in anticipation of getting kirk cousins
>>
>>76288393
Sorry I have news to tell you, Kirk Cousins is signing with the New Orleans Saints. I don't know why he's doing it, but he distinctly said, "lmao fuck San Fagsisco and Cleveshit."
>>

nigger murder city
wallace, omar, wee bey, stringer, bodie
ART and 2 owls and the state of the browns like an ex wife that goes on to marry rich and the husband descends into drug abuse in and out of prison and rehab
having the blessing of ozzie newsom instead of the curse of marvin lewis
ray lewis body count
the fact Im unhappy in life and lonely
an entirely entrenched nigger underclass completely subsidized by tax payers with no oversight and free reign to victimize people
