They're just different animals. Indy cars are built for long periods of flat out (350kph) racing, F1 cars are built for constantly changing speed and direction (great brakes and short acceleration).
The two series reflect the different geographies of the two continents: Europe with tight, twisty streets, America with long straight roads.

Depends on how you want to define typical.
IndyCar and Dallara have done a lot over the years to try to keep the cars from getting airborne because it was happening so much. Mario did a multiple in-the-air endo at full speed years ago, and of course the Dan Wheldon crash was unforgettable. The cars still catch air too often, but there's not much one can do to completely control a 200+mph airstream. Thankfully the kinds of crashes where one gets a long look at the undertray are becoming less common.

Dan's car got launched and went into the catch fence, and Dan caught a light standard with the top of his head. Basically an airborne version of Jules Bianchi's crash.

Monaco has lost a lot of prestige since its heyday, IMO. Once upon a time, wining the Monaco GP was right up there with winning Le Mans, but now it feels pretty much like just another F1 race. It doesn't help that F1 is no longer as entertaining as it was in the '60s and '70s, either.

The F1 competition is about who has the most money.
The people at the sharp end of the F1 grid have absolutely no interest in competitive racing. Their position is the best car should win, and the best car is fielded by the people with the most money, the end. (Personal experience.)
Allowing the poor teams at the back of the grid to be competitive is the same as allowing the race fans into the "F1 Paddock Club." The entire point of the series is *exclusivity*.
That's not my preference, but it's been that way for decades and some people prefer it. But like it or hate it, expecting it to be what it's not is just silly.

It was a good race. Green flag finish Castroneves tried a lap 198 pass, but Sato held him off. He put some distance and Helio couldn't make up the ground to try another pass. Sato had the faster car in the end and he was pushing it from inches to the wall to the line every turn.

I didn't let myself believe it until he crossed the line. I learned my lesson from 2011 when I thought JR had it in the bag. Putting it in the wall, blowing the engine, a lot of things could have gone wrong, but it made it that much better when he did it

The engines are still normally aspirated? Because that's a lot of failures for NA engines and the speeds were to slow, so I don't think they are turbo.
