I 100% believe Shaq never fully tapped into his potential because of Phil Jackson making him a power center and allowing him to get fat so he could just overpower players and take up space with his size instead of being fast and agile like when he played with the Magic and much more athletic than any other center in the NBA.

The Lakers won a single game without Kareem.

For the 1980 playoffs Jabbar averaged 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game. Magic wasn't the best player on his team, much less the NBA.

And making the finals without Jabbar simply showed what everyone had already known - the West was weak during Magic's career. Why do you think Bird used to put on shows during his West Coast swings? He's score 45 a night with 15 Rebounds and 10 Assists simply to let Magic know he had no competition in the West.
