Mother said to be wary, that it could easily be a fake, that it was not worth my inheritance. But I knew as soon as I laid a finger on the glove; the texture, the coarseness. And then the smell. Oh, the smell. Musty. Stoic. I slapped the seller on the back and told him I could pay for the glove with money, or advice. He asked what that advice was. I smirked and leaned in, the words falling out of my mouth easier than a globule of the hungriest spit. Kahn was the best goalkeeper I've ever seen. He closed his eyes and nodded; he turned on his wheels and walked clean away. There was a respect between the two of us that mother would never understand. But she knew. She knew Kahn was the best goalkeeper I've ever seen.
