23 years since without terrorists attack, everything else is worse edition

yesterday results
> Santos 4-0 Sporting Cristal
> Santa Fe 1-1 Strongest

Already in Ro16
CA River Plate (ARG)Melgar
CA San Lorenzo de Almagro (ARG)
CD Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba (ARG)
CA Lanús (ARG)
CA Mineiro (BRA)
Santos FC (BRA)
CA Paranaense (BRA)
Botafogo FR (BRA)
Barcelona SC (ECU)
The Strongest (BOL)
CdF Nacional (URU)

tomorrow
> Palmeiras-Atletico Tucuman
> Penarol-Jurgen Wilstermann
Penarol is out of everything. Wilstermann and Palmeiras are in with at least a draw (Palmeiras can even lose by one goaldifference). Atletico Tucuman needs to defeat Palmeiras by at least two goals to go through.

mercredi
> Melgar-Emelec
> River Plate-DIM
River already in, Melgar already out. Emelec is one point ahead of DIM, as long they get at least the same result as DIM they are in.
> Atletico Nacional-Barcelona
> Estudiantes-Botafogo
Botafogo and Barcelona just competing for 1st place. Estudiantes and A.Nal just playing for 3rd place.
> Gremio-Zamora
> Iquique-Guarani
Gremio is virtually in. Iquique is one point behind Guarani, only a win is enough.

We have Sudaca cup next week

>>
emelec v dim was one of the memeiest matches i've ever seen. every match in the group ended 1-0, there they go playing the most open match of the tournament with literally no defense, colombians with their stereotype weak everything except skill play and africans with le pacy counter. was the greatest and the worst match at the same time. and then that disallowed goal
>>
>>76096570
fuck off, they literally cheated
>>
>>76098363
Conmebol has cheated, because of your amateur and easy to rig notification system
>>
>>76097124
it was a two match ban tho
>>
>>76098482
One automatic match ban and complementary ban need to be accomplished after official notification (Conmebol failed on this, but refuses to take responsability on this)
>>
>>76098478
i don't even get what you mean, but i understand that chapecoense played an official match with an unregistered player, which is against the rules so they have to (at the very least) give up the points
>>
>>76098517
Automatic suspension has been paid against Atlético Nacional and complementary suspension didn't notify by Conmebol. They sent email message for someone who doesn't work for Chapecoense.
>>
reminder to ignore the cheatpecoense poster
>>
>>76098577
...so? you can't officially win a match with an unregistered player, any further sanction may be up for discussion but that match can't be officially recognized as a win for your team.
>>
>>76098668
Without official notification, a punishment on a player cannot be applied
>>

I wonder whats gonna happen when eventually one brazzie team reaches the final. Not saying they should change it then (since it's elected before the tournaments starts of course) but maybe they will contemplate that idea and add some retarded ass rule, like changing the host or making home-away out of nowhere.
Tbh it should be in Uruguay or Chile, since it's way uncommon for that to happen often (if they decide to do so).

They weren't amateur titles m8. Maybe organized in an amateur way, but the players were professional. I still cringe at the pre-1971 titles anyway.

>>76110371
I guess it's easier for you, as your football started with the Bs. As. league and there were no other important regional leagues around. Here, during the amateurism and the first years of professionalism, there were two important tournaments, in Quito and Guayaquil, and instead of recognizing any of them as official and earning the ire of the other city, they just ignore everything before 1957.

Can any of you guys tell me something about Depüortivo Maldonado from Uruguay?
Since 2004 they are in the Segunda Division, but somehow they always get their hands on really good players (for a team from Uruguays second league):
Last season they spend 6.75mio on Hernan Toledo (now Lanús), last year 11mio on Calleri (now West Ham), the year before that 3.5mio on Géronimo Rulli (now Real Sociedad, allegedly City target and ARgentinas best goalie). In the years before they acquired Ivan Piris (later Udine and now Monterrey), Marcelo Estigarribia (multiple Serie A teams) and Willian José (now Real Sociedad). How the fuck can they afford that? Why would any of these players join this team, they are way too good. They never played for Maldonado, but still. This season they generated 15.4mio out of sales from aforementioned players, why can't they reinvest any of this money? They net in more money with transfers than teams like Penarol who dominate Uruguay.
Is it really just all a money laundering scheme or what?

There are claims that Barcelona and Emelec have been helped by the government: Correa is a known Emelec fan and they won the league three times in a row, while Barcelona won two titles, each one just months before elections. All of this during his tenure.
This all comes from the Quito press, whose teams have won shit since 2011.
>>

are there any hints that refs have been paid or some teams lost on purpose?
>>

Ponte Preta is the oldest club in Brazil, never won any major title in it's history

they have a nice song tho and they have a lot of fans, also they are the biggest team in 'countryside" São Paulo and just being at Serie A almost on a regular basis is pretty impressive
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmhebPGHPQU
>>
>>76117361
I am currently learning portuguese, and my textbook says that you would pronounce "ponte" like "ponchi", but these fellas say ponte with a normal t. How's that?

T before I can be pronounced closed to german TSCH or like T depending on regional accent. Ponte Preta is from Campinas, São Paulo state, and accent there pronounces TI closed to TSCHI

In Brazil:

>Flamengo and Corinthians have the largest fanbase because they are memed until exhaustion by Globo, which has a direct interest on their success (both comercially and financially).

>Other clubs hang themselves on tradition (São Paulo, Palmeiras, Botafogo) or on a good management (like Chapecoense, which was well known by its administrative style even before the tragedy).

>>Flamengo and Corinthians have the largest fanbase because they are memed until exhaustion by Globo, which has a direct interest on their success (both comercially and financially).

You are obviously wrong,Corinthians have more fans because it was the worker club.

In São Paulo it was either an italian immigrant, so you support Palmeiras, or Juventus i guess, a portuguese immigrant, so you support Portuguesa, and if you are jewish, black, lebanese, muslim or whatever you would either bandwagon Santos, support Corinthians or support São Paulo which was a younger team compared to Corinthians

Globo never sold Corinthians as much as they did with Corinthians, specially because Corinthians was not a successful before the 90 as was Flamengo.

Just see the map of how much Bandwagonners are, this is the direct result of Globo airing more Flamengo matches than other clubs, specially in Northeast/North.And before that the Radio was the responsible for that.

While Bryan Jimenez, who is now in jail since he was found guilty of extensive corruption including fixing matches which would have qualified us to the world cup had we won, was president of our federation, Comunicaciones won 6 titles in a row. kinda similar to what happened to Anzhi Makhachkala, had an investor, got players like Eto'o, the they left and they got relegated, even though they're back in the first division, although fighting relegation
Malaga was a bit like this
don't know the exact story behind Granada, but their owner (who also owns Udinese and his son owns Watford) sold the club last june, and how they performed this season is well known

Germany has the 50+1 rule to prevent this, which means a club cannot be majorily owned by someone else

The difference from here in South America is that you dont usually have billionaire owners behind clubs, the major exception is those "bridge" clubs aforementioned, used only to circunvent the fifa rule that says players rights cant be held by third parties, so they register those players on clubs like Deportivo Maldonado (a similar club here in Brazil is Tombense), and pocket all the money. Fifa cant punish those guys because of this loophole, but the actual club dont see any improvement out of the deal.

Reminds me of Cafu at Juventude. When São Paulo sold him to europe, they included a clause that stated that he couldnt return to one of São Paulo's rivals, like Palmeiras. When Palmeiras wanted to sign him in 95, Parmalat, who sponsored them at the time, signed him to Juventude, a smaller club whom they also sponsored, he played there for 6 months then immediately left for Palmeiras, kek.
