Sports have a mental component. Gamesmanship. Displays of athleticism do not. Horses are athletic. Dogs are athletic. Usain Bolt is athletic. That only gets you so far in a sport.

They're still drug tested in college by the ncaa. Think the rate of failure is around 3%. Steroid use became an issue when a former player died at just 43 from abusing steroids. There are safer methods to up your performance. Adderall, hgh, even suplements now are banned but likely very highly used
