At 234 kilometres, stage 12 in the 2017 Giro d'Italia is the longest in this year's edition. Travelling from Forlì to Reggio Emilia, the route is perfect for a bunch sprint.
Yet, if the pack falls asleep the race could boil down to a chance for attackers.

The 12th stage in the Giro d’Italia is a two-faced challenge.
The first half of the route travels over two climbs while the second half is played out on flat roads leading to arrival place Reggio Emilia.

After leaving Forlìo the stage travels steadily uphill until Colla di Casaglia is crested at kilometre 63.4.
The pass, at an elevation of 913 metres, lies in between Toscane and Emilia-Romagna.

Following the descent, the Valle Appenninico comes next.
The summit at 731 metres lies at the end of a stretched false flat, so the ‘climb’ really is nothing to worry about.
A gentle drop takes the riders to the last 80 kilometres. These are merely flat.

The first three riders on the line take time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the last intermediate sprint (at kilometre 153.0) comes with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.

G'day lads, looks like a comfy stage again today. Peloton doesn't seem interested enough in the break for anything to happen any time soon.

Scenery is comfy as fuck, freeway isn't. Literally the dullest kind of road.
>>
>>75983083
I bet you have more exiting roads in Romania then in the Netherlands.
And scenery as well.
>>
>>75983113
Our roads are probably the worst in the EU. That said, we have some really comfy scenery on the sides to make up for it. Whatever freeways we do have are just as dull as everyone else's. We just don't have that many.

Oh hey, we just got off the damn freeway. Comfy roads incoming.

At least you can see the holes since they are well lit.

This stage is gonna be long and dull, isn't it?

http://www.velonews.com/2017/05/giro-ditalia/van-garderen-maybe-not-grand-tour-rider_438724

He sounds like a broken man. I know it's a meme around but I can't help but feel bad for the guy.
>>
>>75983627
Only 50-ish km left, mostly flat. It's mostly done really.
>>
What the fuck is Movistar doing with Amador being 40 seconds behind Quintana? 4D chess or team insubordination?

>VN: Are you suffering from an illness or any physical problem?

>excuses.

It's a never-ending meme, I feel a bit bad for him, but it's the American hype around him that assumed out of nowhere that he is a big tour rider, and he believed it himself.
He is a decent small tour rider and domestique but no true GC contender.

You will not like stage 13 I guess.

Stage 16 will be right up your alley.

Leaving from Rovetta, it is the Queen Stage of this year’s Giro d’Italia.
Snow permitting, the riders climb the Mortirolo early on before a double ascent of the Passo dello Stelvio wickedly invites them.

First they tackle the 2,757 metres monster from the Bormio-side before descending via the famous 48 hairpins on the Trafoi-side. (this kills the pinot)

The second ascent is via Switzerland and the Umbrailpass before plunging down to Bormio.

Stage 21 is an individual slight downhill time trial though.

And when he was still fat he did win the Queen stage of last years TdF riding alone in the rain.

He isn't as natural a climber as Quintana but he should be able to keep close.

Hey /cyc/ - get in here for Amgen Tour of California!

> The winner of the 2017 Amgen Tour of California could be decided on the final 15 switchbacks to the finish atop Mt. Baldy. It’s been called the “Queen Stage” and compared to the epic stages of the European Grand Tours. The training ground for many local Southern California riders, the race will return to the mountaintop finish that thrilled fans in 2011, 2012 and 2015. Only a handful had done the entire route, but after the race contested the climb in 2015, this is now one of hottest Strava segments in the U.S.

That's a road built during our commie days by our fearless leader. Think they also complained about the lack off freeways as well after leaving the capital. Also those dirt roads they get stuck on, aren't as uncommon as you might think.
