Just found out I live literally 2 mins away from one of the best amateur boxing clubs in the country, and they do cheap drop-in sessions. Are boxing clubs usually friendly for novices?

I've got a year of uni boxing experience, but these were informal sessions that I went to maybe only 20 times over the year, so for all intents and purposes I'm still complete shite. Only looking to do it as a keep-fit thing really, I'd just like to train with a heavy bag once or twice per week, I don't even want to spar or anything like that.

Aiming for the belly slows you down, but the real damage is more for accunulation. In amateur bouts, being 3 round, the effect is not that devastating. behind the elbows is where the liver is and that is a potentially one punch ko although very difficult to reach, you might also hurt your thumb really bad.
