Last one in first division was All Boys. They don't have stripes tho, it's a single diagonal black strip ala River. Then you have Talleres, Gimnasia and Quilmes which are white and really dark blues.
Just yesterday Quilmes lost in Ro64 of Copa Argentina against Gimnasia y Esgrima Mendoza (from third division), which actually uses black and white stripes

Nice. Good picks at the midfield, that team would fly in the pitch.

Martin Silva is pretty expensive for a first-round gk, but then he's playing against Palmeiras, will probably have to save Vasco a lot.

Good choices m8
>>
>>75863722
Or he'll get rekt and pull my entire team down. Either way, he's the best player Vasco has right now and I trust him to secure at least a tie against the pigs.

Derbymageddon schedule

TODAY
> Cuyo Derby: Godoy Cruz de Mendoza vs San Martin de San Juan at 21:15
Both teams are below the midtable. They have no business with the championship nor the relegation.

SAMEDI
> La Plata Derby: Estudiantes vs Gimnasia at 14:00
Estudiantes is lurking for a Boca fuck up to take the argie league lead. Gimnasia lose their meme run and got kicked out of Sudamericana by Black Bridge. They can only think of staying in Sudamericana zone.

> Cordoba Derby: Talleres vs Belgrano at 14:00
Belgrano is living one of the worst seasons of their story while Talleres aims for the Sudamericana zone. Luckily no casualties this time.

> South Zone Derby: Banfield vs Lanus at 16:00
both teams aim for Libertadores spots while Banfield stills holds a hope for the championship

> The Atletico Derby/The Alphabetical Order Derby/The our rivals are in 4th and 3rd division Derby: Atletico Rafaela vs Atletico Tucuman at 17:15
Both teams are at midtable but while Alt Tucuman reaches for Libertadores Ro16, Rafaela is probably getting relegated.

> The Buenos Aires City Derby: Huracan vs San Lorenzo at 18:00
While San Lorenzo wants to keep on track for Libertadores & argie league, Huracan is in the verge of relegation and almost out of Sudamericana
> The Coastline Derby/no derby: Olimpo vs Aldosivi at 19:30
Both in relegation battle. Olimpo is worse.
>>
>>75865361
First round is this weekend, so nothing very important.

Flamengo x Alt. Memeiro do the first match tho, and they're both expected to be in the title race, so there's that.
>>
>>75865577
DIMANCHE
> Sante Fe Derby: Colon vs Union at 14:00
Colon aims for the argie league, 9 matches undefeated with 7 wins. Union has no bussiness here.

> Rosario Derby: Newell's vs Rosario Central at 15:00
Newell's wants the tittle. Central wants the Sudamericana spots.

> El Superclasico de la Republica Argentina: Boca vs River at 17:00
Boca has the lead, but is in a 5 matches hard path where they have already drop two points. River is one of the chasers but a lose is practically taking away any chances of championship.

> El Clasico de Avellaneda: Independiente vs Racing at 19:00
While Racing still aims for the league, Independiente can only hope for Libertadores spots.

> I didn't even know you were in Primera derby
fuck it
> The made up derbies that are all """somehow"""" related to relegation
Rafaela (30th) vs Atletico Tucuman (8th)
Olimpo (27th) vs Aldosivi (24th)
Patronato (22nd) vs Sarmiento (30th)
monday
Defensa y Justicia (18th) vs Quilmes (25th)
Arsenal (28th) vs Temperley (26th)
Velez (21st) vs Tigre (14rh)

*Those are their positions at the relegation table, not the actual league position.

If you spend more than 10 Cartoletas on a player you have a high chance of losing money.

because the gov owned the first division through taxes money. They didn't like the idea of the whole country paying for a league where only Buenos Aires & Santa Fe played (plus a cheeky Godoy Cruz), so they decided to expand the league, which theoretically was cheaper than obtain the whole B Nacional rights.

It was never officially stated by the gov because then FIFA would ban AFA, but the gov had important people already there taking decisions and pushing their "agenda". Besides, a 30 team league has less matches in the same timespan than a regular 20 teams league (which means less income) and "minor" teams could overtake the big teams due to having first division privileges and an increased vote power. That alone should state pretty clearly that there was no reason for AFA to support the expansion besides lobbying with the government.

>>
>>75889515
It's new, lasts 1 month. All 16 teams are divided in 2 groups and then play against each other to win their groups and face the other winner. The champion gets a sudamericana spot and then plays the supercup against the uruguayan champion(the real one) in January but that's worth nothing, just cheap glory.

We had longer tournaments before but they stopped for some reason, now they started this in order to keep the teams competing and not losing football.
>>
>>75896040
In other words, this Torneo Intermedio would work be like a pseudo national cup right?
>>
>>75896145
Yeah it's called copa intermedia too

>>75895689
Big teams are made because of history.

That's why ManShitty or Chelsea will never be a "big" team in england even if they somehow manage to win something relevant with petrodolars.
>>
>>75896655
That's good. I've to say I don't like more than two tournaments for season, but it taking the place of the never existing Uruguayan Cup is nice, even more if it gives international rewards. The (Apertura winner vs Clausura winner) vs annual "winner" is still a thing right?

>The (Apertura winner vs Clausura winner) vs annual "winner" is still a thing right?

Glad to hear they care about improving uru footy. Even if it's only Penarol & Nacional, we need those uruguayans powerhouses back, for the sake of the continent quality (new sporadic powerhouse from the Pacific are either unlikable or devoid of int international success).
How is this revolution supposed to work? is the gov involved? I recall some news last year about state owned stadium or something like that

This is the problem with Uruguayan football, look at all the money it loses because of mafia

https://ladiaria.com.uy/articulo/2016/11/los-derechos-de-transmision-y-los-intermediarios-en-el-gran-negocio-del-futbol-uruguayo/

The "revolution" is NT players along with local and the ones in europe complaining about their rights.

It's still very far away though because like it says in that article AUF still is giving TV rights for like 50% their price but some things have improved.

For example in the NT Puma would pay like 750k per YEAR which is dogshit. Now they pay 3.5 millions + bonuses and equipment/tools/travel expenses to every divisional including women and beach football.

The TV rights while still being ripped off now give small clubs the amount necessary to pay more salaries. If this keeps going in a couple years maybe they'll finally get rid of Tenfield but honestly it's just too hard, Tenfield basically owns AUF

Uruguayan football will never be good again, as soon as Tabarez leaves the NT Paco will put another puppet like he did for 16 years before tabarez and we'll get ruined again

Mauricio Tapia, the Argie manager of Antigua GFC, led Antigua to its first two leagues in history in the Apertura 2015 and Apertura 2016 tournaments. He turned Antigua from a lower division team to a perennial contender, and I love him for that, Antigua was my grandad's team and my dad's second team.

The other Argie manager of note is Ramiro Cepeda which turned around Deportivo Petapa from a team that was about to fall into second division to one that made the playoffs.

Other than that we have a ton of Uruguayans

Because the Big Five weren't decided by the media nor the popular claim, the Big Five was a political elite. In the first years of professionalism, the big teams put some completely arbitrary requirements to get into the group of big teams (certain amount of paid members, more than one league title and at least one professional title, at least 20 something years old, etc). And it wasn't just an honorary title, it holded real power. The Big Teams were awarded with 3x votes, and since back then the league didn't have 20 teams, they basically ruled over everything (3x5>1x~13), they decided which teams get relegated, how to schedule matches, they even pushed some small rivals teams to merge under the threat of relegation.

This group can't be changed because, mainly, it doesn't exist anymore. The Big Five channelize their power through to implicit influences or mafia. Even if they tried to make a new elite group the gap is so wide it would drive to two situations: a) Boca & River would the only two big teams and San Lorenzo, Racing and Independiente would alliee with the second tier teams to overpower them. b) more teams become Big and therefore get more power. In both situations the already settled big teams lose power somehow, so is better for everyone to stay like this.

fun fact: the reason why Huracan is commonly referred as the main Sixth Big is because when the election was made, Huracan fulfilled every requirement (even surpassing everyone but Boca and Racing in some aspects), but one, which probably changed forever the history of the club.

It's no use. As it stands, even those powerful teams would stand no chance against, even your weaker clubs. In the CONCACHAMPIONS Mexican teams dominate. Even teams from footballistacally superior leagues like Costa Rica are unable to challenge Mexican dominance for long. When the impossible happens and a Central American club manages to knock out a Mexican club, like between Xelaju (GUA) and Guadalajara in 2007 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtMCZJXvd5s) or what happened last CONCACHAMPIONS between Arabe Unido (PAN) and Monterrey, it's seen as a national scandal over there, and for good reason.

The only way we will be worthy of the CONCACHAMPIONS is if we get off our asses and become the country we were destined to be, together. If we build a strong league, with strong youth development and strong institutions, and these clubs which have the economic stability to make a difference in each Central American nations' football played each other, rather than playing teams like Mictlan, Parrillas One, Municipal Limeño and Uruguay de Coronado.

Central America should be one, no matter what Costa Ricans say. Its the only thing that makes sense: economically, politically, historically, and athletically.

Please ecuadoranons clarify this

Ecuador here.
Our league is divided in two phases, two all-against-all short tournaments where the winner of each gets a spot on a two-legged final at the end of the year (and one of the two spots for Libertadores' group stage). Now, if the same team wins both phases, it's automatically declared champion and there is no final. In that case, the runner-up will be the second team in the annual table. The last two spots for copalib and the first three spots for copasud are given according to team's placements in the annual table, from the best team placed (other than the champion and the runner-up) to the 7th place.
For this year, our retarded federation decided that for some reason, there will be a playoff between the 2nd division (Serie B) champ and the 8th placed team on Serie A for that last Sudamericana spot. They did it because they felt that it was weird that 8 teams out of 12 would get to compete on continental cups, so they wanted to spice it up a little, while throwing Serie B's teams a bone; instead of just increasing the number of teams from 12 to 16.

Defensor Sporting has won the Apertura, which gives them a spot in the Campeonato Uruguayo semifinals against the winner of Clausura (coming soon). In case of winning such semifinal, they would be already in Lib2018 (I think). The finalist is decided by the 1st in the annual table. Whoever wins the final, will get a Lib2018 golden ticket. There is no overlap tho, if Defensor Sporting wins Clausura too (and therefore, the annual table) there is no semifinals nor nothing. It's all over there and all the spots left are decided by annual table (I think).

Also between Apertura & Clausura we are getting a Torneo Intermedio (pic related) which will work like a uruguyan cup, where the winner will get a Sud2018 spot and play a supercup against the winner of Campeonato Uruguayo. Watch out, Intermedio performance will affect the annual table (I think).

Correct. Of course, it can happen that in case of a final, maybe both finalists aren't also the top two teams in the table - that's why I mentioned that in th tat case, the 3rd place is thebest placed team that isn't one of those two finalists.
Happened in 2014: Barcelona and Emelec each won a phase, and in the annual table Ind. del Valle was second overall (on top of Barcelona), but they still went as 3rd place.

Zulia to save the venezuelan pride, a win settle both at 7 points, a loss is practical elimination for them. Nacional in the other hand can practically seal their ticket to the Ro16 (to save uruguayan pride too)

São Paulo are so terrible under Rogerio Ceni that they got kicked out of the south america's version of europa league by a team that had never played outside of their home country before. Rogério Ceni is already losing his fans because of his arrogance and delusion, he literally refuses to acknowledge that his team is awful, even though they lost five of their last six games. You should bandwagon Palmeiras, the team with actual Italian roots and who have a real chance of winning the copalib. Also, their games are the most memeful, just look at the collage.

Well they would end up with 7 and 5 points respectively, with just one match left both, so is technically better for DIM (but they play against River and Emelec against Melgar, take that however you want)

The truly winner in that draw would be Melgar, who would be just 4 points behind DIM and 2 behind Emelec, but they still have two matches left. But again, we are talking about Melgar.

Jewish club? Atlanta
relatively big team from a relatively successful country but it's not actually successfully locally nor internationally? probably Defensor Sporting, Montevideo Wanderers or Danubio. I would take Danubio, they even share coulors
>>
>>75964518
>>75964437

He isn't looking for a Jewish team alone, he just wants an underdog that every now and then has a possible chance at winning the league/playing in the continental tournament.

I say become a Racing fan, If I had to start over again and choose a second team in Argentina I would choose Racing.
>>
>>75964651
The bolivian sorrow is a way of life. Whichever team they choose they will suffer, it's just how it works, i can't recall no team that has won more than three leagues consecutively. And continentally, it's more than 15 years since the last back to back champion. And before that it's easy black to the mid 80s. In the whole history of Conmebol just one team managed to obtain a treble just once.

If you want to root for something like Racing it's okay, but the suffering is going be unbearable at some point, like almost every team in southamerica. Just do you what's the spirit of this general: you can root for a club, but you have to be here for the whole entity of the competition unless you want to become "malasangre"
>>
>>75964726
>the bolivian sorrow is a way of life
such delightful poetic way of putting it together, I tip my fedora and applaud you good sir.
You make really good points. My comparison between Racing and Tottenham is that unlike Atlanta, it is expected that your team will always be competing at the top, plus there will be always a considerable part of a certain region in which the team will be supported; North London/Avellaneda making your stadium have many fans all the time. Plus other fans from different parts of the country, even the world. For example my mate from Uruguay is carbonero but also is really into Racing.

Atlanta in the other hand is constantly relegating and most of its fans are just members of a certain neighborhood and I guess a religious/racial community. Uruguayan teams have no real comparable leagues outside of Uruguay, it's literally Penarol/Nacional with the occasional outsider, perhaps only comparable to Spain.... but if you talk about unbearable suffering then watching the Uruguayan league should not be an option. If anything the league that feels he most like England in the American Continent it has got to be Argentina's. It is fun to watch and usually the top teams and the occasional outsider always have chances of winning.

I mean the kid could choose el r*jo or s*n lorenzo, but seriously nobody dislikes Racing that much tbqhwyf. Just kind of like Tottenham, everyone hates ch*lsea and Arsenal but who really has beef against them besides those two?
>>
>>75964726
>In the whole history of Conmebol just one team managed to obtain a treble just once.
Which one was it?

Damn, Libertadores is a hardcore tournament.
>>
>>75966586
Olimpia won Libertadores, Supercopa and paraguayan league. They were awarded with the Recopa automatically without playing.
I know it's not an actual treble in the old fashioned way, but only Brazil had a regular national cup back then. Unlike other southamerican "trebles" Olimpia's is the only one which doesn't include supercups (which Boca, River, Independente, Penarol, Nacional and some Brazilians probably have)

We should look out for Libertadores+Copa Do Brasil+stadual tho, maybe there is a treble winner there if you count estaduales as part of it.
