The Betway Premier League ends another regular season tonight with the Granite City of Aberdeen hosting four rock hard battles to determine the final four.
Starting the evening is basically a dead rubber as dim Dave Chisnall plays the eliminated James Wade. Chizzy has to win and win big if he's to overturn the 10 leg difference on fourth place, and kept his playoff phase unbeaten streak going last time out. For Wadey, it's all about pride as his season ended in terrible fashion last week against the World #2.
The last PL Stokie derby involving Phil Taylor follows as Adrian Lewis will proudly bend over and gift his Lord and Master an easy two points. Snackpot killed his O2 chances dead last week against the fake Scotsman while the Prowler pulled off only the second TV win since September against the World #1. This won't be fun to watch as even if Chizzy's won 7-0, Pheel would only need 4 legs to progress.
Second-placed Peter Wright will hope for another Dutch demolition job tonight against Raymond van Barneveld. Clownman unbelievably whitewashed the reigning PL champion in the Euro Tour final at the weekend and stayed in contention to take the PL's top spot after thumping Aidey. RVB's campaign came to an early end following his loss to St. Helens' most intelligent man last Thursday.
Ending the league phase is a repeat of this year's Worlds final between Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson. Despite having had two chances to top the table early, MVG has took neither of them, drawing with Chizz in week 13 and amazingly losing to Taylel last week. Add in a Gando who finally qualified last week but has only beaten the Autism Express once in eight meetings, Mighty Mike will surely claim top spot tonight in front of a load of jeering Scotsmen... right?
Coverage starts from 7:00pm UK time on Sky Sports 1.

And that last dart D20 ends the Premier League round robin phase, which went down to the final match.
Dave Chisnall predictably imploded when it mattered as he threw away any chance of making it to the O2 against James Wade. The pressure somehow broke through to the dense dimwit's vacuum of a skull as he struggled early doors, averaging well under 90 and only winning 2 of the first 8 legs to be eliminated from contention. However, when Wadey hit 82 to secure a point, Chizz finally roared into life, hitting a 129 on D18 on the way to 4 successive legs to claim a draw on his exit.
Phil Taylor played out a cracking fixture against Adrian Lewis that saw the senior Stokie pushed for 8 legs by the junior before the inevitable gifting of a victory. Snackpot missed D12 for the first ever TV 9 darter against the Prowler but averaged well north of 100 for the majority, Phil's 110 to level it at 2-2 countered by Lewis's 122 for a 4-2 lead and then 114 for 5-3. Alas, this was to be Fatpot's last leg of the PL as he unsurprisingly surrendered to his master and finished bottom of the top 8.
Peter Wright ended his league campaign with a very simple near-walkover of a disinterested Raymond van Barneveld. RVB clearly couldn't be bothered, what with his elimination last week and Wright not needing to play to his best to win; only the 116 to win from the Clown the real exciting bit.
Michael van Gerwen therefore needed to win to claim his 5th successive top spot, and he did. Despite only finishing 30% of his checkout attempts, the 103.6 average bested a Gary Anderson who didn't really get going until MVG slammed in a 124 to break into a 3-1 lead that saw 4 consecutive breaks before the Autism Express ended the streak with a last dart D5. Gando's 145 in the next leg proved to be his last of the match as Mighty Mike held on to win.
So the play-offs from the O2 next week will be as follows:
>Michael van Gerwen v Gary Anderson
>Peter Wright v Phil Taylor
See you then.
