You don't know the first thing about football if you think slide tackles are a meme. When you pick up football as a 6yo, the first thing you learn is to never slide unless it's absolutely necessary.

The thing is, occasions to slide tackle present themselves more and more as you grow up, because everyone becomes faster. This technique is a very valuable asset in modern football and players like Mladini -widely considered GOAT his position- were a prime example of how powerful it can be.
