Is there a way for LeBron to pass MJ as the GOAT?
>>
Winning 3 straight would help
In all likelyhood Lebron will end his career with more points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals than Jordan, and maybe even a better %
>>
>pass #4 all time
>become goat
doesnt work that way

And if he doesn't he's forever out of the discussion because that will give him 5 (FIVE) Finals loses.

I don't understand how niggas consider him even top 5 All Time when he already has 4 (FOUR) Finals loses and he played like dog shit in 2 of them.
>>
He already did.
>>
By beating the memeriors again

Name one final team that Jordan play against that were as good at GS
>>
He will be GOAT to all you little faggots, just like Kobr was GOAT to previous faggots, Jordan to older faggots and Russell to the even older faggots. In summary, you are a faggot.
>>
>>75697381
>final losses
Stupid argument. Is getting bounced in the first better than losing in the finals? Every final you don't make it to is a lose and so Jordan is 6-9 and Lebron is 3-10
>>
>>75697411
>Is getting bounced in the first better than losing in the finals?

What difference does it make, both teams won't win a ring, Jordan only lost in the 1st round twice and never missed with the Bulls while LBJ missed the playoffs twice and got bounced in the 2nd round in 2010 when he won MVP. Once Jordan hit his prime he never lost, can't say the same for LeBron.
>>
>>75697510
>Never lost
His first year back after the retirement, he lost in 6 to the Magic
>>
>>75697535
He came back the last week of the regular season that year and wasn't in Basketball shape.
>>
>>75697577
So? You said when he hit his prime he never lost. If Jordan was confident he could play in the playoffs who are you to tell me otherwise?
>>
>>75697160
He lost three finals, he never will.
>>
Nah no one is ever touching Michael. Lebron would have had to beat the Mavs for the 3peat in Miami to come close. Missed too many opportunities.
>>
>>75697702
He lost 4 (soon to be 5).

The thing LeBron has going for him is that the competition has improved dramaticly since the '90's. There was only a couple of good teams back then and then one of the best teams ever. It was really unfair back then. Lebron in every finals, expect in '11, has been the underdog. Whereas Micheal always had the considerably better team and was never the underdog. So, LeBron's accomplishments are weighed more but Michael still edges him. If LeBron gets two more rings, especially one against this warriors team, then he will go down as GOAT.

He's already the GOAT

Jerry Stackhouse Rookie Year

-Stackhouse tells the story about his first encounter with Mike as a rookie
-So Jerry is guarding Mike as Mike brings the ball down the court. Jerry is waiting for him on the other side of half court.
Jordan makes eye contact with Stackhouse and starts the trash talk of course
JORDAN:Which Side?
Jerry doesn't say anything back because he knows Jordan is trying to get in his head.
JORDAN: Which Side? STACKHOUSE: Whatever man, just play ball man JORDAN: I'm not saying what side do you want me to go by you, thats gonna happen regardless, I'm going to put you on my poster today so I am asking you what side you like of yourself and I'll make sure that when I dunk on you I know what side you want showing."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The East has been huge joke ever since Garnett and Allen started declining in the Celcucks. The rise of Derrick Rose was awesome but then the injuries happen. The East is shite, LeBum's teams would be Round 2 exit in the West.
>>
>>75698775
This is a load of shit. The NBA has been watered down over the years by expansion. It was strongest in the 80s when there were 22 teams. That makes Bird/Magic dual GOATs.
>>
>>75697160

MJ is the product of a watered down league.

He was an elite player but couldnt compete with peak celtics, lakers, or pistons. He only won titles with a league diluted by expansion and injuries to superstars.

If LeBron even pushes this absurdly stacked warriors team to 7 hes the unquestioned GOAT
>>
>>75697160
>Is there a way for LeBron to pass MJ as the GOAT?

No chance, that ship sailed after the 2011 Finals when the guy had a 8pt game in the series. LBJ can maybe pass Magic for 4th All time but that's where it stops. Russell, Kareem and Jordan are safe from LBJ. Lonzo Ball has a higher chance of passing Jordan than LBJ does.

Anyone else feel like Jordan wouldn't be that good nowadays? He couldn't shoot 3's, and he played when there was still the illegak defense rule so you couldn't have help defense waiting to limit his drives. If you played him now, couldnt you just sag off and concede long shots and have 2 guys waiting back to stop any drives? He's just BARELY top 5 right now.
If he wins against the warriors this year, he is undoubtedly top 5, and most likely top 3.

The Warriors are unfair. They out-matched the Cavs last year completely in the head-to-head but LeBron managed to somehow tap into his jesus-gene and win. But now Warriors are just miles beyond LeBron.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs got swept this year.

Overall, if LeBron wins this year, he objectively enters the Top 5 and can start being seriously considered as the GOAT.

>Any GOAT discussion
>Not having MJ or Kareem #1

Can you guys just shut the fuck up if you know nothing about basketball?

LeBron is not the GOAT and probably will never be GOAT. It's possible but unlikely. (Currently, it's Kareem.)

Stop the disinformation please. If you're over 30, you know for a fact that LeBron isn't the best over.
>>
>>75721408
Who did the Spurs throw at LeBron? Bruce Bowen, Ginobili? A big step up from Tyron Lue. Cavs had no one to throw at Duncan let alone Parker. Anderson Varejao and Boobie Gibson?
>>
>>75721451
I think you're completely ignoring the AI comparison. The Lakers outmatched the 76ers at every position (unless you count AI as a point guard) much like Cleveland was outmatched at every position but sf. He got one, bron got zero. In Miami when all his teammates were getting whooped he got them one. That's all I'm trying to say, at least get one. There was no way he was winning in 2007, we all know that but my argument is that as great as he was in that season he couldn't even get one game against the spurs.
>>
>>75720540
Take off your nostalgia goggles.

Lebron has beaten the mid 00s Pistons, who had consistently one of the best defenses of all time

He's faced and beaten Kawhi and Igoudala and Draymond, all NBA and DPOY players.

"But muh handchecks and muh toughness!!!"

Shut the fuck up with this idiotic argument. Any defense with a semblance of complexity was literally against the rules in Jordan's era.
>>
>>75721447
Also of note, blocks and steals started being recorded in 1973-1974. Kareem started playing in 1969-1970 with the Milwaukee bucks.

That means he played FOUR years without his blocks being recorded, AND STILL ended up 641 blocks behind #1 Hakeem Olajuwon w/ 3830 and 100 blocks behind #2 Dikembe Mutombo with 3289.

There were approximately ~82 games per season from 1969-1973. That's a total of 328 games.

To be first all time in blocks, a prime Kareem would have had to have had 1.95 blocks per game (doable). To surpass Mutombo, a prime Kareem would have had to have had .30 blocks per game (easy).

>tldr, Kareem is GOAT and the difference is even larger than it looks like on paper.

Are you retarded? Mj went against birds Boston, ewings new York, wilkins Atlanta, barkleys sixers, Reggies pacers, the Hornets when they had the twin towers, Orlando when they had penny and shaq, hardaways Miami, prices cleavland all in the east

In the west he had to deal with the best Utah team ever, barkleys suns, hakeems rockets, magics lakers, payton and kemps Seattle, clydes Portland, run tmcs golden state, robinsons San Antonio, and even shit teams like the Nets had players like petrovic who were capable of carrying games.

Lebron played a large part of his career in arguably the weakest nba Era in the past 35 years. An Era where Joe Johnson was considered one of the best sgs in the league. Even then he couldn't dominate the league like Jordan did because a geriatric spurs team dominated him like a shit skin dominates Swedish men. Even now the league isn't that strong and players like james cum catcher harden are superstars when in the 90s he would be an even memeier starks.

Lebron will never catch Mj. When Mj went against a powerhouse east team in the Pistons he kept coming back harder and stronger each year. Patience paid off, pippen came, and he dominated on the back of struggle. When lebron went against a powerhouse east team in the Celtics he literally stormed off the court like a toddler throwing a tantrum, quit on his team when the series wasn't over, and then ran to Miami where he played on a team he put together himself. And when he faced adversity on his new team he went back to his old team who had 3 no 1 picks stacked up and shaped the team to his choosing again.

Bill Russell
Sam Jones
Tom Heinsohn
K. C. Jones
Tom "Satch" Sanders
John Havlicek
Jim Loscutoff
Frank Ramsey
Robert Horry

>mfw

Also krautfag, total NBA points:
1. Kareem 38387 in 20 years (1919 pts per year)
4. Jordan 32292 in 15 seasons (2152 pts per season)
156. Bill Russell 14522 in 13 years (1117 pts per season)

Are you retarded? LeBron went against the Big 3 Celtics, Carmelo in NY, Horford's Hawks, DeRozan and the Raptors, PG's Pacers, the DRose Bulls, Orlando when they had Howard and Jameer, the Big 3 Wizards, the powerhouse Detroit Pistons New Bad Boys, the last years of the Kidd and Carter Nets. Al in the East.

In the West he had to deal with a Mavs team loaded with Allstars and Wade and Bosh and everyone else disappeared. A young bucks OKC squad with 3 future MVP candidates, the fucking New Age Spurs and the GSW superbuddies. He lucked out and only dodged the Kobe Lakers because he couldn't get past the Big 3 Celtics.
>>
>>75721953
>Horry Argument
Nigga, please. If Finals MVP had been a thing back then, do you know how many Bill Russell would have had? 11! He would have more Finals MVPs than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would have Finals appearances! He would have been the best player in each Finals series, something that neither Kareem nor Jordan (because let's keep it real, the deserving 1996 Finals MVP was Rodman) can claim.

Bill Russell was the elemental piece of the most dominant sports dynasty in post-WWII America. He competed against a league that, whilst in its infancy and, obviously, not as advanced as the current league, was not diluted to near-breaking point because of overexpansion like the NBA was during Jordan's days.

He was the master of mental manipulation. 99 % of all players, all time, would get demoralised when asked to play against Russell. I am certain of that.

He and his team played in a way that could be transplanted without any adjustment to the current age and would still have a shot at a playoff run. Look at the footage that actually is available on YouTube.

Once you get off of wanking to meaningless ppg and join the real world, where winning is the only thing that matters, you will realise that there never was - and probably never will be again - a bigger winner in basketball.

It's not very different, at the end of the day he played with another two HoF players under one of the greatest coaches ever.

>>
He has to get 6. Its possible
>>
>>75731922
I know that. My original point was that Pippen doesn't become THAT Pippen without MJ next to him. He was basically Andre Roberson before picking up most of MJ's game during his early career with him.

>>75731965
Exactly. Put Grant Hill with MJ and MJ still wins 5-6 rings.

>>75697160
All Lebron has to do to tie with MJ is beat the 2017 Warriors. To pass MJ as the GOAT, Lebron has to 3peat by winning next year. He doesn't have to win 6 if 2 of those came from beating the 73-9 Warriors and the KD Warriors.
>>
>>75732109

If he gets 6 then there is no question Lebron is GOAT. The reason why MJ fans bring up 6 though is because not only 6 rings but also 6 Finals MVPs. The others who contend for GOAT all had another guy win Finals MVP on the same team.

Kareem had Magic and vice versa, Lebron and Wilt only have 4 Finals MVP between them, Russell never played in the award's era and even then its likely Cousy or Sam Jones would have won one at least. Shaq and Kobe and only have 5 between them. MJ has 6 and I can't see anyone beating that. If Lebron can get 5, that would be enough for me for him to be the GOAT
>>
>>75732109
Pippen was a instant impact player as soon as he left the bench. For all we know, without him Chicago wouldn't have those titles.

Also, Grant Hill will end up in the HOF, of course he would've also helped Jordan in his cause.
