White Americans used to make up a good percentage of basketball playing numbers, but I believe they've been pushed out by the focus on the black audience and influx of black players. Basketball just can't connect with them anymore.

Though even in college there are a ton of white guys on teams. They're just not good enough to make it. Partially because basketball isn't without its stereotypes like whites just not being seen as athletic and explosive. So whoever plays gets relegated to center or 3 specialist, rarely any in-between.

I'd give an explosively athletic black guy who can only drive to the basket and is terrible otherwise a better chance to be drafted than a "slow" white guy with at least okay shooting or defense and a good basketball IQ.

There are pockets of whites who care about and love basketball...traditionally, Indiana or Kentucky love it, for example. But given the choice much of the country's white kids would likely go for baseball or even football if they're a big cornfed fucker who can play offensive line. They're even going to niche, not as "cool" sports like lacrosse or hockey or golf over basketball.

Euro influx has something to do with it, also. They're taking the spots that used to go to white guys from IU or Duke or Kentucky or whatever.
