why don't americans watch snooker?
>>75636517
/asp/ is actually the proper place for apehoop, since it's more social media drama with WWE-esque "storylines" than an actual sport.
Sorry, DaeQuan.
you are the batter in webm related; try hitting the ball with the bat.
>inb4 >boreball
legitimately takes more skill to hit a baseball than any single play in soccer, cricket, basketball, and perhaps football.
>>75636544
Murrilard here who used to shoot pretty heavily for 4-5 years.
Murrikans are dumb and uncultured as fuck. The closest thing they'll watch is 9-ball and even then hardly anyone watches it. It's usually on a throwaway weekend timeslot on ESPN2.
And because that's all anyone watches that's all anyone plays. And because that's all anyone plays that's where all the money is.
Eventually when you break in among the elite you'll find people that play straight pool or one-pocket, and that also varies on the area of the country.
I blame Martin Scorsese and The Color of Money.

Holy shit. At least you guys beat us at soccer. Fuck you guys are pathetic
>>75636575
I almost never play 9-ball with my friends. It's always straight-up with us.
>>75636544
Americans aren't big on indoor sports (basketball and hockey are technically played "indoors" but I think you understand the difference here) anymore.
Once upon a time a big bowling match would get millions of viewers.
Indoor sports/games like pool, snooker, bowling, darts just don't have a cultural presence here outside of casually playing them at the bar.

>watching snooker makes you cultured
Dear god you have to go back to plebbit now. Take your fedora with you

Brilliant snooker. Trump snookered him behind black, the ball he needs to pot or hit next is the green (there is an order to what you pot after all the reds are gone), the points are close so he doesn't want to hit it full ball and leave it over the pocket from trump to clean up from.. brilliant snooker t b h.
>>75636598
Why did they give him so many tries?
>>75636629
You get as many tries as you want in snooker. There are no winners or losers

Snooker gives the opposing player points when the shooter fails to make contact with the object ball, so it a player is facing a deficit, he can retake the lead through his opponent failing in this regard.
>>75636638
This. Every game ends in a tie as european culture demands
>>75636642
>US has had 2 professionals in it's history and neither have broken top 100
We don't play it here. At all. The US snooker championship is an amateur affair that has featured the same 8 Indian immigrants for like the last decade.
3 cushion (historically), straight pool, 8/9 ball, and one pocket have always been "our" games.
3 cushion also makes snooker look like checkers if you want to get into that kind of pissing contest.
>>75636627
So it's like trying to hit a designated ball without hitting others, but also placing them in spots that'll make it difficult for your opponent?
>>75636574
Just aimlessly swing and you'll hit it.
>>75636638
2 exceptions to the rule:
If a player is up and the player snookered requires snookers to win they can't be put back in if missed.
If they can see any part of the object ball they get 3 chances or they forfeit the frame - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0T83p5rXNA

exactly.

>>75636544
prior to /sp/, i had only heard the word "snooker" and knew it was a billiards sport, nothing more. i live in a very large city, and according to google there's four places within a 15 mile radius that even offer snooker, two of which are bars
>>75636715
It does. A professional level player only averages about one point per turn, and many times solutions to a shot require 7-8 rails, extreme use of masse, and much more of an extreme use of English/side.
Your average shooter in a pub can run some 10s and 20s in snooker and have a good time. Put him on a 3 cushion table and he might make one point all night. It's that hard.
>bar games

Is beer pong and cornhole a sport to you too?
>>75637311
nice
>>75636855
Have never been in a pub that had a snooker table.

Almost impossible; mostly because it was so far out of the strike zone

He wanted to hit it as thin as possible.
