Zidane fucked up by leaving it to Casemiro and Modric to anchor the middle(Kroos isn't really into that man marking thing). He should have played a 4-1-3-2 or 4-1-41 and had a permanent anchor sitting in-front of the back 4, and started Vasqez instead of Bale. Hell, should have started Ronaldo in the middle and dropped Benzema for Isco and played him as a 10.

Messi ran through both of the more Defensive Midfielders for the first goal like they weren't there, although one of the front 3 (looking back at the Madrid Defense while doing fuckall) should have been SCREAMING at Casimero to track Messi instead of drifting towards the line, but no call was made and Casimero left a massive hole in midfield.

Ronaldo or Benzema should have been getting involved vocally there instead of sitting around doing fuckall waiting for the ball to reach them.

Positioning isn't something you can just start working on, it's like talent versus hard work. Some players aren't very good naturally so they have to study the game and work very hard but others just have it come naturally. Casillias was a natural talent and so when the time came and his talent run out he was 32 and it was too late for him to start really working on a new skill but he at that point had achieved so much anyway
