The lasts teams worth watching who are not living up their memeruns from last year are Newell's (irregular af but they don't play Libertadores) & River. Probably Boca, or Newell's if they are lucky and get their shit together.
Estudiantes has become to erratic, and since they are probably going to go through in Libertadores/Sudamericana, it's only gonna get worse.
River has a great memerun, but all the wins have been against literally whos (more destacable are DIM & Lanus) IIRC the last rounds are between Libertadores knock out stage, so they might crash by then.
San Lorenzo is ded. Aguirre & Romagnoli are cancer.

You should watch out Racing tho. They have been pretty solid and have the same points than River. Also, they are in Sudamericana, so they only have international matches like once every three weeks. but it's too early for another Racing title.

No one assumes it's a Libertadores itself. Everyone accepts it has its own merit, but it's just not the same competition. In other words, it's not like the WC/Jules Rimet difference meme, but more like the WC/JJ OO difference.

Unión Española has made Top 8 every single season since 2009 and O'Higgins since 2011 and have been more regular than the Big 3 (Colo Colo, U. de Chile and U. Católica) for the last years since the Big 3 have had random bad years (CC in 2013, UC in 2014-15 and U 2015-16)

Not really, what is going to change is how the season works.

Right now we have July-June seasons with 2 short tournaments per season.
After the July 2016-June 2017 season that we are playing right now we will play from July 2017 to December 2017 a 6 months transition season to go back in 2018 to the January-December seasons and a single tournament with the champion being the team with more points in 30 matches.

It seems like most leagues are finally adopting the Jan-Dec annual tournament format, probably the new Libertadores calendar had something to do with it.
