this pretty much say it all. scored a couple of hugely important goals in a fucking crazy game where you couldn't predict who was going to win it. as soon as it looked like barcelona were going to win, madrid got back into the game, barcelona had their backs against the wall, literally the last second of the game barcelona have a quick counter attack against a madrid side that fell asleep and messi scored a really nice goal to end it all.

now they're tied on points, if madrid had won this game or tied barcelona had a very low chance of winning the league but now they're in a much better position and anything can happen if madrid slip up even once.

the MESSI spam is because it was just a crazy game decided by a messi goal in a week where everyone was shitposting about him being exposed because they lost in the champions league earlier this week. thats the narrative in a nutshell.

This has been proven time and time again. NFL hits are WAY harder.

The forward pass changes everything here. Players are hung out to dry much more often and targeted by defenders who have 10-20 yards to gear up and blindside a receiver. Nothing in rugby compares with that, not even "nurse" passes.

There's nothing like special teams in rugby, where players are on a dead sprint for 40-60 yards

And this "armour" you think protects you so much really doesn't. Only your head and shoulders are really "protected." In that gif, the receiver is feeling the full brunt of that impact, even more so if the players weren't wearing "armour," since this example shows a player leading with his shoulder pad into the chest of said player.

Anon pls.

The flaw in that "author's" logic is that he is comparing average per-game attendance. But he ignores venue size. Indoor arenas such as those used for basketball and hockey are much, much smaller in capacity than those used for outdoor sports like football, baseball, and soccer.

An outdoor team sport outselling an indoor sport isn't news though. It's to be expected because of venue size limitations. Ticket prices are quite low to MLS games too btw. You can't get NFL or NBA tickets anywhere near that low price. Even MLB tickets cost more, and they play 162 games in the regular season.

It's a sign of growth for the sport, but it's really not fast growth, and nowhere near outpacing even #4 NHL.

To shitskins, sure.

I watch Rugby. It's a wrap tackling game with maybe 1 or 2 really big tackles per game.

The only really dangerous part of rugby is the scrum, which broken neck risks are rather high for a sport.

They aren't hitting with anywhere near the same velocities and force as NFL players. I'm not saying this to "talk up our sport," it's due to game design. American football prioritizes inches, thus "hitting" is more effective than "tackling". An inch taken or given in rugby isn't a big deal, while it decides games in football.

And then there's the forward pass and special teams.

>Martyn Williams, the former Wales international who played in the same position, told the Telegraph: "I would say American Football is more dangerous… there are far more ‘hits’ put on players who are not expecting it. You can fly in without using your arms when attempting tackles, so knees and so on are far more exposed. I believe all that protection makes them feel invincible.”

This is what we try to tell you, but you Bongs (and Kiwis) always think we're doing such to put down the "manliness" of rugby.

it's because a lot of Americans make it sound that way, like the autist earlier in the thread
>The only really dangerous part of rugby is the scrum
I'd also say contesting high balls and mauling are really dangerous

but isn't the CL more important than La Liga? if you ask me, winning a 16 team league is more impressive than winning a 3 team league

Lol, this isn't remotely happening. Do you really think the fan base of the Toronto FC, Montreal impact, or Chicago fire hold a candle to the leafs, Canadiens, or Blackhawks?

>it's because a lot of Americans make it sound that way, like the autist earlier in the thread

This actually goes back (way back before the Internet even existed) to rugby fans always putting down American football because they wear "armour."

Per football's design, pads are needed. Simple as that. One could also argue that pads make the game more dangerous. This so called armor doesn't really offer that much protection. Your ribs and abdomen are totally exposed and are often hit full speed with helmets and shoulder pads.

> they're different. End of story.

Agree. Some people don't get that, though.

Indeed. Average attendance doesn't mean shit, too. Soccer is played in stadiums, and Americans (and Canadians), being the open minded sports lovers we are, will see a game for a night out with the family.

MLS performs absolutely putrid on TV and will maybe be talked about once a month by the various talking head sports outlets.

This is true. Television revenue brings in a lot more money than gate revenue.

Facts are facts bongs.

We also have a Lacrosse league that averages about 6K per match. I guess following your snaggletooth logic, Lacrosse is about "a 3rd as popular as the NBA."

No.

Scroll up dude. Just saying that, if he had gone without any gear and I had them on, he'd be at heavy risk. If the roles were reversed then it would be the same for me.

Padding makes players more dangerous.

Idk, some bullshit about a soccer game I guess. Soccer is that kicking the ball into net wearing shinguards game many kids play on Sundays. Q hi
