It really would be classic Galway to win the league without getting promoted from 1B.

I can talk about sports too

I was pretty apprehensive about Davy Fitz becoming Wexford manager because his tactics game at Clare was pretty sub-standard (probably the worst of all the major teams, bar Cork) but he's done far better than I expected so far

though Wexford have put in a lot of hard work over the past few years and were really under0-rated by the pundits and the bookies. Liam Dunne is going to go down as a O'Sullivan/ Gerard Houllier type manager who put in the ground work but didn't stick around long enough to take all the credit for their future successes

I have a hunch that they're going to draw Dublin in Leinster, and if they can beat them they'll have proven they're good enough to at least make the All-Ireland semis
>>
>>75451862
Dunne had taken them as far as he could. Banty is doing pretty good with the footballers too. Where are yer county board getting all the money for managers?
>>
HOW DO WE FIX THE FUCKING CHAMPIONSHIP LADS?

Talking about football here. Some teams go two months without a game, others have to play again within six days, and smaller counties have lads training for 9 months just to get hockied twice and dumped out. Needs to be sorted.
>>
>>75451862
What the fuck was he at last week, hitting yer man, he'd be saying all types about how the drinking culture in Clare hen he acts like a bollocks, a thug, there last week.

Its not, he must have the little man complex.

Gealic football and Hurling would be two of the most popular games on the planet if the English invented them and exported them to more countries. Discuss.
>>
>>75451918
I was pissed when he got that one-year contract extension because if they held out like two more months they could have gotten Ger Cunningham instead of Dublin, but it now looks like that was for the best. I want to see Dunne unfuck Offaly's shit for his next project

As for the football team, I don't pay attention to them. Wellingtonbridge is where all the money in Leinster ends up

>>75451995
I want a world cup type system, the only Provincial championship that's even slightly interesting is Ulster
>>
>>75452108
Wtf, why do women wearing braces always make me diamonds?
>>
>>75452108
My cum needs to be exported onto those titties.

I like it the way it is, comfy and local,b it that's just me.
>>
>>75452108

Hurling is the GOAT sport but I'm quite ambivalent about Gaelic football though.
>>
>>75452178
Fair enough but can you imagine how high the quality would be if we had millions of players around the world playing though?

>>75452155
Mostly the chebs for me
>>
>>75451995
>>75452134
It should be done like the World Cup, with 32 teams (London instead of Kilkenny, no New York) split into 8 groups of 4. Seeding is based on league positions, ie if you just got relegated from division 1 you're in pot 2, etc.

They should keep the provincial cups for the rivalries, and scrap mickey mouse competitions like the O'Byrne Cup and FBD League. Play the provinical comps after the league season ends and give each provincial winner guaranteed top seeding.

When it comes to Championship
- top two teams from each group goes to round of 16 with top finishing teams getting home advantage
- quarter-finals onwards are played in Croke Park
- third place teams in each group go into the quarter finals their own competition
- fourth place get their own competition as well

That way every team, in theory, starts the summer with the "chance" of winning Sam, everyone gets at least four games, everyone gets a game against a top team, and people end up competing against sides at a similar level to themselves.
>>
>>75452186
I think both games have an excellent balance and scoring system, but I could have seen football becoming bigger/more accessable because you need less equipment.
>>
>>75452243
A lot of lads here in Kerry play football from a very young age, there's an athletic dedication and determination to it. Same for the Kilkenny boys.
>>
>>75452294
I mocked up what such a group system would look like a year or two ago with that pot system and you ended up with with some pretty interesting match-ups and the average quality was surprisingly high

you'd also get way more shock results, which the GAA needs
>>
>>75452382
The championship is crap every year up until the semi-finals and then it's so good that everyone just lets the last 4 months slide.

People are getting sick of it though and if the GAA don't do something, the Championship could end up going the way of the Railway Cup within 10 or 15 years.
>>
>>75452474

Yea I don't pay much attention to the provincial cups having the backdoor slightly devalues it too it's only around quarters/semis it heats up.

Part of it is just the dominance of kilkenny though. I remember Munster used to be more competitive though seems like teams like Cork and Clare have dropped off.
>>
>>75452294
>>75452382
Here's how the pots would look using this year's league and last years provincial competitons to draw up the seedings. You might have to rig the draw a bit to keep teams that met in their province from meeting in the groups but it would be better anyway.

I'm still annoyed about how the GAA were indifferent to Offaly shitting themselves, then when Wexford shit themselves the decided to "fix it" by shoving Galway into Leinster and simultaneously ruining Westmeath's progress (who are still underdeveloped today)

they got real lucky with Dublin becoming a big team, or else the last decade+ of Leinster would have been very underwhelming
