It's actually easily explained by the fact American sports aside from basketball (not many fat coaches in basketball) required something Yuropoors don't understand: muscle mass.

Football requires this more than any sport, so someone like JJ Watt, who is 6'6" and 280lb of lean muscles probably has a 5000kcal per day diet to keep up that build.

Then he retires, but continues eating as if he's still an active pro athlete, thus getting fat.

Yuropoor athletes like this skinny fat thing don't have nearly the same amount of dietary challenges as actual athletes that need 100 or more pounds of muscle mass to be competitive in their sport.
