Who's the greatest center of all time and why?
>>
>>75294863
Kareem
>>
>>75295194

David Robinson
>>
Shaqeem
>>
>>75294863
1. Kareem
2-3. Meme 1820s because muh rings and stats
4. Shaq
5. Hakeem
>>
>>75294863
Well, in terms of being the most skilled with the least flaws in their games, it would be Hakeem or KAJ.

Shaq was the most dominant, but had an unusual alpha & lazy personality that not many people got along with.

Wilt/Russell are hard to project. They dominated in a era with lots of shorter white guys. I'd say if you take them as they were and dropped them into today's games, they'd still be quality centers (we've seen Pau be a pudgy motherfucker his whole career and drop 20/10). Russell would be a better Gobert at worst.

If you drop them into today's game, and give them all the nutrition, strength training that a person growing up would get now, I'd think they'd be generational players for sure.

All in all, I'd probably take Hakeem.
>>
>>75295402

The only flaw in Wilts game was his freethrow shooting, but he was an elite passer, could run the floor, and had a sick fadeaway midrange jumper.

He would be unstoppable in today's game.
>>
Wilt was a taller, stronger, more athletic, more skillful Shaq. He'd probably be considered a bit better than prime Lebron if he were to play in the modern nba.
>>
>>75294863

Easy. Hakeem.
>>
>free throws
>Shaq

pick 1.
>>
Greg Ostertag.
>>
Shaq, his abilities are greatest for real basketball. Under NBA rules during the times they were playing, Kareem.
>>
>>75294863

Ben Wallace > Shaq
>>
The one who still dominated despite not eating for days at a time.
>>
>>75294863
>no interesting center has come around in the past 20 years

What happened?
>>
>>75298138
game change to cater to gaurds
>>
>>75295252
Hakeem used to absolutely cook him
>>
>>75298138
AD could have been the guy if he didn't have injuries, and KAT could still be that guy if he has a big next step in the next few years.
>>
>>75294863

Hakeem.

He shit on everybody on offense and was elite on defense
>>
KAT if he becomes elite at defense and maintains or improves his offensive production from the second half of this season for 10+ seasons
>>
Hakeem or Kareem. I'll give the nod to Hakeem because of the players he had around him the majority of his career.

reminder that wilt the goat was the single most athletic player in nba history and would shit on everybody in any era
>>
Gotta be Chamberlain, who changed the game and made it popular

Anyways, who cares about centers, it's by far the most irrelevant position
>>
>>75304419
>no long range shoot
obsolete in the modern era
>>
People forget how freakish wilt Chamberlain was as an athlete, as well as his incredible stamina. The dude is the strongest player in NBA history, stronger than prime Shaq.
>>
>>75298138
KAT just did 2000 points and 1000 rebounds.

15 players have done that before.
13 of them are currently in the Hall of Fame
The other two are him and and Tim Duncan
>>
>>75304686
I'm born in 1988, I remember watching NBA from 1996 and Rodman instantly becoming my favorite player. That's 21 years of watching basketball regularly, more or less. My top 5, in order other than clear No. 1:

1. Shaq
2-5. Duncan, Wallace, Robinson, Mutombo (the latter two despite catching them in what are basically twilight years).

6-10. Hakeem, Mourning, Howard (fuck you, he was a monster in Orlando), Bynum, Ilgauskas.

HM: Camby.

Shame I was too young for Hakeem's and Ewing's primes. At least I have a good memory of David Robinson's 5-6 seasons.
>>
Hakeem. Had the best skill set of any center ever. Pretty sure he was top 10 in every statistic for a long period of time.

>Shaqfags will say otherwise
>>
>>75306181
Wow, he dominated the 23 yr old Shaq, much wow.
>>
>>75304463
>centers, it's by far the most irrelevant position
That would be PF
>>
D. Cousins
>>
>>75306539
Apologize.
>>
>>75307971
A great player in that position doesn't make it the least relevant one

Hell, in his particular case you could argue that Stockton made him
>>
>>75308487
Doesn't not make it the least relevant one*

>>75307796
Tells you everything about the position now when HE'S considered the best center in the league
>>
>>75298138
He is literally elite at both sides of the ball

Too bad he is made of glass
>>
>>75298346
>>75304738
These 2 and Boogie could be very very especial if they played defence
>>
>>75306145
I'm born in '82, and I'd have to agree with Shaq as the GOAT that I've personally seen. Ewing was my most favorite to watch, though. Damn shame he never got that ring.
>>
>>75308487
PF isn't relevant at all the way the game is played now. Back when you had a strong big coming off a pick and roll around the perimeter it was a much deadlier role. Now a days that's generally correct though, very few boards/blocks/pts coming from PFs in today's game. The only GREAT one that comes to mind today is Paul Millsap.

Shaq-diesel in his prime was a God damn monster. Just look at the original maker 3peat. The man was brutal and unforgiving.
>>
>>75309525
Davis, Porzingis, Draymond, Cousins and Aldridge are technically PFs, Love, Vučević, Randle might be good, Towns is technically the PF...
