"RB" stands for "RasenBallsport" which is totally idiomatic German for "lawn ball sports".

They totally didn't just make the word up because "RB" happen to be the initials of Red Bull

A more natural word would be something like "Ballspielverein", which means "ball playing club" or "ball games club", and which is found in the name of Borussia Dortmund.

Their logo is "BVB" which stands for "Ballspielverein Borussia". And "Borussia", by the way, is the Latin name for Prussia, the pre-WWII state which Dortmund was part of.

Wow, can't believe Barcelona managed to get Verrati, Thiago and somehow convinced Arsenal to buy Mathieu and Alcancer for Bellerin. And with Sampaoli as coach with Punished MSN being motivated to win everything, no one can stop Barca this season!
