Most people don't like seeing a lower quality of play. This goes out the window for college games, I'm still trying to figure that part out.

a) their alma mater
b) see prospects before they hit the majors
c) teams closer to them / cheaper tickets
d) more games / different times from pro games

but I'm still not sure how they're as popular as they are, all those factors together don't explain march madness.
