This isn't true though. I grew up in the South Bronx and did extremely well in school. Ended up going to one of the most expensive private schools in the city on a full scholarship and nobody ever said I wasn't black enough, because I didn't act like I was better than anyone, wasn't soft, and never talked to the police. Still don't. Actually most of the kids around my age just asked me to help them study, and while I was growing up, the Bronx was the poorest congressional district in the country.

I'll never understand why people pretend to know everything about black culture and what it's like to grow up in a poor black neighborhood, but that shit will never stop.
