>>75195807
usually its up to the fielders to fuck it up somehow. phillies probably would have goofed eventually but not really worth cespedes killing himself.

This is as bad as Harvey ever gets and he's no higher than no. 4 right now
>another one
>>75197757
harvey is the #3 in the rotation. but he's also been much better than velasquez this season lol
>>75197793
Matz is injured
>>75197832
harvey is much more talented than matz, injury or no. the fact that he's healthy only adds to him being the consensus #3 guy rn.
>>75197882
talented is abstract, matz pitched better than harvey did last season and isn't coming off of a major surgery, if he was healthy it would be unfair to not at least give him the no. 3 to start the season
>>75197976
but he's not healthy, and harvey has more career experience and has been pitching well. and matz DID have surgery, to remove the bone spur in his elbow. it's not like he was shut down for no reason last year.
Is Zack Wheeler the new Kershaw?
>>75197976
>matz pitched better than harvey
i don't know if that's true. harvey fell apart at the end of the season with only a few serious fuckups the rest of the time, matz has always been a 50/50 toss up to me, and i've watched or listened to virtually every single game last season since matz showed up in 2015. both players at max performance, full rest no injuries, harvey is just the better pitcher. i'm not saying matz sucks, he's done amazing shit. but it is what it is.
>60 pitches through 5
could he go all the way lads
>>75198211
they'll be very cautious within him given his history. he could go 7-8 at his current rate though
>>75198170
I mean just overall Matz' FIP was slightly lower and ERA was way lower, iirc Harvey's xFIP was lower but not a fan of xFIP
And of course Matz played more games
>>75198141
Does Kershaw have exploding elbow syndrome
>>75198211
i'd love to see a complete game, but i've seen TC pull people off the mound with 8 2/3 in for no reason other than they were close to or over 100 pitches. i'm guessing wheeler will stick around till about the 7th, then he'll shove cocksmoker or robles in there.
>>75198211
It's against the Philles. Of course he will.
>>75198238
that may be true. but there were nights where harvey just had total and absolute meltdowns that tacked shitloads onto his era that arent really representative of his overall skill. either way, they're both great pitchers.
d'arnaud looked fast as fuck there
Bruce has some new hustle out in right field. I know he isn't the fastest, but last year shit would just go over his head and he would casually go for it as they went to second. That's gotta be the third time in this series along he hustles down to the right and hold the runner to a single. Gotta love it.
he would've been safe at 2nd with d'arnaud throwing tbqh
I don't understand everything yet and it's 3:00 am here but I can't stop watching.
Do I have to get burgers for lunch from now on?
>>75198474
PLEASE watch our sport
>>75198474
Burgers have nothing to do with baseball, eat hot dogs with ketchup or saussage and peppers

One of pic related is required eating with a 2L bottle of coke for every game here

Robles really fucking sucks. Look how disgusted Wheeler is in the dugout. He hates this dumb spic as much as the rest of us.
I wish every one of our pitchers could be a starting pitchuh.
Fuck robles.
Okay seriously Robles should not be considered a viable option at this point.
>robles

Man, how I hate Robles
still have the lead, but it would be better to pound the lillies bullpen and secure it
>Roblel
Jesus fucking christ
Hansel Robles?
More like Gretel Robles!
Hate the people in Charlie's stream who can probably watch the game on tv but are in there stealing bandwidth anyway.
>>75198495
That makes things a lot easier. You can get sausages everywhere.
>>75198527
Aren't there like 3 games each day?
>>75198552
Maybe.
>>75198582
Prove it
from the other night when i made this, still applies.
>>75198773
Reed wouldn't have come in in the 6th though. Salas probably would have if Familia was in I guess.
>All the Mets fans suddenly panicking
Relax, you're still winning.
The Phils aren't going to score another run this game.
Man, I think this is the year they have to get rid of Terry.

if this was against the marlins I'd be assured a win was out of the question at this point, but the phillels are beta losers
>>75198893
>aren't there like 3 games each day?
Every team plays on avg 5-6 games per week, double headers happen sometimes if there's a rainout the night before
Most people who watch baseball only really watch their own teams
>Prove it
Our mascot is a man with a baseball head. We have the best announcers, bar none. Syndergaard has a chance to be the best pitcher in history. We hit a lot of HRs. '80s mets were infamous for being heavy partiers and drug users
>robles
>>75199017
>Syndergaard has a chance to be the best pitcher in history
>roblels still in
terry wtf u doin maing?
why robles still in there?
i'd rather have a tee at home plate, ffs.
>>75199053
He's already indisputably no. 2 right now and that's only because kershaw is top 3 of all time, if not no. 1
finally, they pulles roblels out.

the article I read suggested that that's exactly the reason he went. as a crash course in Americana before taking over the show.

>>75199575
Oh he took over after Jon Leibowitz
>>75198985
>>75198964
>>75199017
>Most people who watch baseball only really watch their own teams
I tried watching all games, which seems impossible after I witnessed how long a game takes.
Do I chose one or do I wait until a team choses me?
>>75198960
Why is that?
What's the difference from the two leagues?
I only heard from MLB and since DAZN got the rights for (only) the MLB, it's really convenient to watch the games.
ha this guy is here again with the fanatic in mets gear.
>people still buying the "closer" meme
It's 2017. I thought 4chan was smarter than the average cross-section of baseball fans.
>>75199608
yes
>>75199672
I'd think you'd choose a team desu
>>75199672
in the NL (National League), the pitcher bats. in the AL, they have a guy called the Designated Hitter who bats instead of the pitcher.
>>75199672
You choose the Mets. Very simple.
>Phillies have the oldest ballpark in the NL East
The fuck?
>>75199672
Major League Baseball has two constituent leagues (akin to the "conferences" in the other North American sports). They're the National League and American League. They were formed as totally distinct leagues that only met in the World Series but have long since had a single commissioner under the "MLB" banner. The teams in the two leagues rarely play each other over the course of the season but the only difference in rules is this: >>75199702
>>75199718
Maybe the make the next one a little bigger
>>75199672
>What's the difference from the two leagues?
NL pitchers bat for themselves. AL pitchers have a designated hitter who baths for them. however in NL, they cant opt to switch out the pitcher for a pinch hitter (effectively the same shit).
AL games tend to be home run showcases with roided up big guys. NL games tend to be more strategic (despite the fact that the mets since last year have been a home run factory ball club).
theres lots more but thats the biggest differences right off the bat.
>tfw too stupid to understand Yale and Columbia alumni banter
setting the stage
>>75199575
I actually commend him for that.
I still dont think hes emotionally invested in America like John Stewart was. He's more laughing at America than directing anger humorously
>>75200019
yeah I'm not especially fond of foreigners talking about American politics and culture in roles that should be filled by experts
>>75200019
>>75200063
It's a comedy show though guys! No one actually gets their news from it!
3 outs to go, we can do this shit. reed's been great, he should be able to pull it off.
>inb41-2-3 inning

>tfw elite lead off hitter

gg phils, thanks for the wins
>>75200156
Wasn't a 1-2-3, but whatever.
Now that game has ended let's talk about the most important thing:
Does Baseball have cute spectators?
>>75200575
yes, of course
ask the /mlb/ general
