You won't feel unsafe around the ballpark. It seems like a normal city, with bars, restaurants and things to do. It is the outskirts of the city that are shit.

As to answer your question, yes and no. Yes as in there is money being poured into the city and it benefits the people moving in there (yuppies) and the suburbanites that visit. However, the school system is still complete shit and crime still seems to be bad (dunno if it is decreasing or not)

Anyway, I go downtown all the time and never feel uneasy.

Nah it's a much bigger safe zone than 2-3 blocks. It includes all the casinos, Greektown, Foxtown, the area around the new hockey arena, etc. And then it extends straight to the river but there isn't shit to do there so you probably won't bother going there anyway.

Corktown is fine too, that's the neighborhood of the old Tiger's stadium. Don't go west or south of there though.

Only issue I see is it is hard to get a quality BP arm, since there is always a shortage of them. You have to pay a premium to even get one.

That is why our scouting, drafting and development needs to improve, so we have some homegrown talent for once in there.
