As for wealthy, well, not really. French rugby is living in a bubble that will probably burst in short-mid term if they don't sort out their shit. Only 2 clubs actually make a profit: Toulon and Brive (and Toulon uses a lot of legal loopholes to do so). But even then, they're not a top budget club either, like Clermont, Toulouse or Racing. They just went under the radar for some time, which allowed them to keep their squad and build on it nicely, so they're having a Connacht meme-year. They're wrecking the league right now, but I'm not convinced they could win the title in play offs, though it would be hillarious to see them beating Clermont in finals. Their season has a "now or never" feel, because they probably won't be able to keep their team, and next season the rest of the league won't be caught by surprise like they currently are.
