A manager can affect his team on the first year easily. Pep took a treble winning team and never made it to the finals again despite winning it twice. There's no such thing as riding a championship winning team in football unless you're coaching extreme talent like Messi, Suarez and Neymar

It's still basically the same squad with the same core minus the deadwood like Oscar. Hell, Luiz is even an ex Chelsea player. Conte's additions were spot on but also mostly obvious, Mouyes wanted a CB/CDM too and got Papi Djilobodji.

While it was smart in transfer sense (Although obvious given how Matic in form was a big part of winning the title last time and how Kante was the real player of the season) it makes the bigger picture of winning the league not overly surprising and a very Buyern thing to do.

He didn't have to rebuild anything beyond slapping the players who sabotaged last season and adjust the formation. Something was given with almost every new manager. Basically what Shakespeare did.

Definitely. Just Chelsea players knew how to do it before. Jose has to fix philosophy and Pep teach donkeys how to think.

My main point was that Conte DID do a good job but looking at the entire picture also not a very surprising one (Unless he wins FA cup, that'd definitely be more than expected). He definitely outperformed Jose/Pep, because rebuilding or not, both are behind Spuds and Liverpool which is embarrassing, but compared to the improvements managers like Silva, Pulis or even Poch did, Contes work doesn't look that impressive.

It's not exactly as meme worthy as Lestah but still easy 8/10 for now.
