I've been thinking about it and swimming has literally 0 drawbacks.

This. You don't believe how hard it is to do most cardio as a mouth breather. When I'm just walking through town, i can handle breathing through my nose until nobody is looking. But when I go running or cycling, my mouth constantly hangs open and people laugh at me. But when you swim, you are supposed to breathe through your mouth! I love it!
