Hearn seems like a good way to get exposure, but I'm curious if his fighters get paid any more than franks.

In general I'm curious how much top level british fighters get paid. (i.e., crolla, murray, etc)
>>
>>74905146
Real talk, Bob Arum is the greatest promoter of all time. Name one promoter who's made more superstars than him. Sure they all leave once they want more money, but he's the one who makes them huge
>>
>>74905684
The first fight he promoted was an Ali fight.

He has been at the pinnacle of boxing promotion for his whole career.
>>
>>74905559
>Hearn seems like a good way to get exposure, but I'm curious if his fighters get paid any more than franks.
In the past, Frank was the top level guy and got huge purses for guys like Prince Naseem and Ricky Hatton. Eddie Hearn has now taken his place, and has an exclusive broadcasting deal with Sky Sports, who pay the most in the UK.
>>
>>74905927
Which Ali fight?
>>
>>74905559
The amount a boxer in the UK earns depends a lot on their popularity and marketability. Crolla gets about a million per fight, but guys like Joshua get much more. Joshua is projected to make £15-20million for the Klitschko fight, and he has big endorsement deals with Under Armour and Beats headphones. And after the Klitschko fight, Hearn wants to make him a PPV attraction in the US, so he'll be getting two revenue streams from separate broadcasters, big bucks.

Too much of a gypsy for my liking.

>>

You have any idea how much Canelo makes per fight?
>>
>>74906242
I think he's the highest earner in the sport at the moment, something like $30million per fight and more depending on the PPV sales.
>>
>>74906242
well in Canelo Kahn he had a guaranteed 3.5 million plus ppv and mexican tv money.

to be honest, i dont think he can make Joshua a ppv star in the states. I just dont see it happening. If the Biggest american heavyweight, Deontay fucking Wilder cant even sell out in his hometown and doing small tv views, i dont see how Joshua can sell, unless he fights Wilder in Vegas.
>>
>>74906099

Where did you hear Crolla gets 1 million per fight.

I find it hard to believe any of the Matchroom fighters who are fighting on regular sky sports fight nights getting anywhere near that. I don't understand where that money would come from. I would honestly be surprised if Crollas last fight did half a million in ticket revenue.

I believe the Box office fighters getting million dollar pay days, and I could even see Joshua making that much for the Klitchsko fight.

Are endorsement deals really a big deal when it comes to boxing?
>>
>>74907440
Guess it depends on how much they pay. Pacquiao had a huge Nike deal that cost him a lot of money when they dropped him. And Canelo has Under Armour backing and Golovkin has decent deal with Jordan.
>>
How do hooks compare to straight punches in terms of power? Like what percentage of a straight left jab's power is a left hook's power? What percentage of a straight right's power is a right hook?
>>
>>74907500

Contrary to popular belief hooks aren't that much stronger than straight punches. They obviously are somewhat stronger and nobody's going to give you a precise percentage (maybe sport science could if they measured the output of Newtons), but the real damage advantage of a hook over a jab is that you're applying the force from the side of the opponent's skull instead of the front. Thus, the trauma to the brain is bigger as you can notice yourself human's head has bigger rotation capacity sideways than from front to the back. If the brain's swelling is large enough in result of trauma maxillary nerve located in the jaw shuts the brain down temporarily what in turn results in a KD or a KO.

>>
>>74908074
I believe that Joshua/Klit will be regular showtime. And Golovkin/Brook was in regular HBO here
>>
>>74907988

Definately. Wrestlers like to make this exercise called bridge, just with supporting themselves on the head instead of arms and walking their feet from left to right, tilting the sides of head that touches the ground etc. They do it for the different purpose, but it's a great exercise for neck strength that helps to prevent KO's.

You don't have to do rotatory motion (but it's fine if you do), pulling a small weight up and down with your neck like Joshua (just without the momentum, that's one of few exercises for boxing when a controlled movement is prefered) will work the same muscle group all the same:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gReLDD_n5M

Another great one is "push-ups" supported only with your chin on a towel. Only feet and chin touch the ground and you raise your whole body by neck and hip action.

I think because his fan base was largely mexican, and they probably thought that was too fruity and wouldn't want to support a boxer like that.

What are some notable examples of fighters leading with their strong/natural hand? Also how does that affect their style, do they tend to have a stronger than average jab?
>>
>>74924614
Do you mean natural lefty's converting to orthodox and vice versa?

If so, most of the Cubans are forced to train and fight southpaw during the amateurs as it gives them the advantage. They all tend to have pretty solid and strong, yet slick jabs.

DeLa Hoya was also a converted orthodox. You can tell in most of his fights how strong that jab is. He would often lead and finish exchanges using just his left hand. Jabs, hooks, upper etc. Gave him that power advantage.

Ward, I think, is also a converted orthodox with a very strong jab.
>>
>>74924614
Hagler. I would say he had a strong jab but then again I got blasted last week for pointing out his win/ko ratio which was watered down by fighting 'bums".

>>74924654

>>
>>74924651
>>74924614
Thinking about it, what exactly makes the dominant hand so much more powerful, is it the dominant leg drive that is often on the same side as the dominant arm? Wouldn't training in a southpaw stance make your orthodox left jab also stronger?
>>
>>74924614
I think Cotto is a lefty as well maybe I'm wrong
>>
>>74924723
Cotto is naturally righty, but fights south paw.
>>
>>74924739
what? Cotto is orthodox I'm pretty sure.
>>
>>74924751
Whoops I got that backwards, he fights orothodox but his strongest hand is the left. Therefore he can throw sneaky left hooks and back people up with a strong jab.
>>
>>74924614
Miguel Cotto, DHL, Antonio Tarver, Nonito Donaire, Lomachenko, Andre Ward.
Fighters who fight with their stronger hand as a lead tend to use it more and have stronger jabs, but whether or not a fighter actually jabs hard has more to do with style, some use the jab as just a range finder and that's it.

>>
Terence Crawford vs. Felix Diaz will probably happen.

Who wins?
>>
>>74927546
The real reason it has that bit of extra sparkle even though the quality is worse is that it decides the true best boxer in the world. It may only be because they're big but that goes for plenty of sports. Obviously plenty to be enjoyed about the lower divisions but ultimately if you had a tournament with every boxer in the world the best heavyweight would probably win.
>>
>>74928005

Heavyweights are punching far harder so it's delicately balanced, the rhythm is completely different to a featherweight fight. And when you're watching the 2 best heavyweights you're essentially watching the 2 best fighters on the planet because they would beat everyone else.
>>
>>74928226
it can also be an extremely boring clinch fest, like fury-klitschko, usually at lower weights fighters throw more punches and fights are more exciting imo.
>>
>>74928096

I hope it does happen or it will take forever for Saunders to have a real fight

>>74944701

he's huge, ripped and has an ok face, also going to be very rich (probably already is)

plus he comes across as a pretty decent guy with the media, smiling a lot etc - sure most of that is media training/management but it adds to the image, i dunno about canada but over here he gets a lot of media exposure, especially when he hasn't really achieved that much boxing wise

no chance he'd have this klitchko fight if he was a pudgy guy even with exactly the same results

going to drop some insider knowledge from someone who is half-in/half-out of the scene

a lot of these people are suck-ups of the highest order, and WHO is gonna turn down free publicity/a hanger-on that doesnt ask for money/a platform to provide propaganda that will affect things like public opinion and negotiations?

so you have a literal win-win, you can use someone like elie as propaganda, the most important part of this is that IT WILL NEVER BE BAD COVERAGE, and if it ends up being bad coverage you kick him out and he loses all of his insider privileges, thereby ruining his revenue and company so this will NEVER happen

like it or not these guerilla-style videos are what drives the day to day industry and discussion. look at eddie hearn's lapdog kugan cassius who literally follows him around documenting his life. then there are people who pay their subjects (cant tell you who) for interviews. then there are propaganda-like media arms for companies (fighthype always being pro-floyd aka floydhype and pro-PBC being a black-dominated business, PBC is secretive to everyone EXCEPT them for areason). Then you have people like UCN and Kim who is an Arum guy (though less fanboy), and The Ring which is GBP dominated (but basically neutral compared to the other media entities).

its never going to be proper media, its gonna be fanboys and propaganda arms forever because of the nature of the sport. and same thing happens except concentrated with the ufc , cause pissing off dana will instantly ruin your life if he takes your credential away. hence why some guys dont care and proudly tout that they have been banned (the most objective ones), and then people like ariel who cry and cry and cry, get public support, meanwhile the others who got banned are still ignored
>>
>>74955936
and i forgot annoying reddit-tier people like ragingbabe who in all reality has been SUPER SMART, but also is a massive sell-out and a massive fake because she can never say what she actually thinks because she actually needs to make all the friends she can to exploit (or as they say in the business world, network) whenever the time comes up. hence being nice to everyone, trying to make friends with all the fighters, its so transparent but hey guess what, no one else has done it!! which is why shes the smartest of them all. but then again in all honesty if a guy were to try the same thing everyone would be instantly distrustful and he'd get nowhere. its your typical "girl in a sport/girl in gaming" push, underrepresented and guys that will basically do anything for you = you will get what you want done if you're smart about it.

>It was somewhat bemusing to hear that Eddie Hearn was attempting to underplay the public interest in the show with spurious claims of how many tickets have been sold.

>It was a stupid claim and one that I am not really going to get into because everyone will see on the night how many people are there.

That's the funny part, those guys dont get paid whatsoever. No perks, barely any compared to the professional 'job' they do for PBC. They are the biggest idiots of all, because they are taking part in this mythical race/stanning war without financially benefiting whatsoever.

Kimster is a fan but he also does get things out of it. Example was the GGG fight at MSG, they limited the media section to sell more 1000 dollar floor seats, he was one of the few on the floor (it was 20 or 30 think) despite not being THE guy (like dougie fisher is for ring) ,so that tells you he is definitely getting treated well. he's also simply anti-pbc which is not a crime. dude works for ringtvlive, cbs sports, so he is definitely playing the cards right. meanwhile the pbc-shilling guys are fighting a losing war. as soon as pbc ends or haymon/showtime deal starts to end and they become rivals, they will have burnt all their bridges.

It'll be a final eliminator to face Wilder after Stiverne, Dillian is already committed to that route and Breazeale is high with them.

Don't like Whyte at all or rate him particularly highly either, hope Brezeale ruins Eddie's dreams of a Joshua rematch as well as that cunts career all in one night. Should be Chisora there.
>>
>>74959015

Too early for Bellew to come back from injury, won't be Ortiz since he's just signed with Al Haymon and fighting on an undercard, won't be Lucas Browne since he's a cheat with no ranking now, Pulev is fighting Kevin Johnson, Miller isn't a name, Bryant Jennings no ranking. So probably is Breazeale.

is it possible for a normie to do a pro boxing camp? my gym is only opened like 3 hours a day. and only like a few regular people my weight to spar with. some times I spar people 30 lbs above or below me.

Like hypothetically, could I go to a gym with minimal boxing ability (I've trained for a year and sparred maybe like 15 times) and do a training camp without a fight coming up?

Like a proper camp, where I wake up do a run, strength and condition, then boxing, with nutrition and shit?

do proper gyms let people do that?

Would be cool to live in mexico or puerto rico or big bear and do proper camp for a month. just see how fit and good at boxing I could get it.

>>
>>74965178
A proper camp also requires the trainer's devotion and time, and I am not sure he would be willng to do that with a rookie who just wants to see "what it's like". Best case scenario is if your gym has a team of pros that all train together and fight on close or the same dates, then they probably do a collective training camp, where they go running, spar, and do conditioning exercises together. You could ask your coach to be on that group just to try out; he may refuse though by saying it's too much for a rookie or that you might slow the team down during group exercises. Nutrition is up to you.

I paid 65 dollars, not including what the cable company decides to tax on it. Also not including the beer, liquor, and pizzas I bought for the party I had that night

That's why Floyd should just kill off pay per views once and for all with the McGregor sparring match he wants to have
>>
>>74966983

He must be self aware of how cheesy he sounds by now

I didn't like Mayorga vs Tito or Arce vs Hussein. I'll give Corrales Freitas a watch but not today.

Apparently the WBC ordered Joe Smith Jr vs Oleksandr Gvozdyk

Spicy, think Gvozdyk is too skillful for /ourguy/ Joe tho.

Kessler going for that Usyk aesthetic.
>>
>>74967984
Stevenson is fighting Sean Monaghan instead, never heard of him
>>
>>74967972
Froch should come out of retirement and have a rubber match with Kessler
>>
>>74967984
Eleider Alvarez is Stevenson's mando. Not that the WBC cares about mandatories.
