I'm a noob. My Euro friends got me into it but they are quite busy.

I still don't know the strengths of the manufacturers/bikes/tires and the characteristics/strengths/histories of the racers and teams. I just know there was a time when Marquez was unbeatable and last year it was Rossi who performed very well, and that at some point Ducati made some change to their bikes that made them excellent in straightaways (or something).

Does anyone want to post a wall of text primer for me? I'll be trying to follow all the classes unless that is too involving, then I might just focus on GP. I don't follow any other motorsports and this looks like a good one to pick.

Well sorry for my poor english, but I'm going to write you a summary

Manufacturers and bikes:
-Honda: probably the most powerful. Years ago it was the bike with the most powerful engine, now it has some problems with this
-Yamaha: not the best bike in anything, but it's the most compensated. With Rossi and Lorenzo it has achieved a great number of championships. This year is the best bike at this moment
-Ducati: only won one time with Stoner(now he is retired). It's the bike with the most powerful engine, but has a lot of problems in the corners
-Suzuki, KTM, Aprilia: the new teams, they have to improve and have advantages to get better
-The other teams are satellite teams, they pay for a bike to the factories (Honda, Yamaha, Ducati...)

Riders and stories
-Rossi: one of the best, he has achieved nine world championships, and is fighting for his ansiated 10th. He is the oldest rider (38 years old) but it's giving fight. In 2015 he has a feud with Marquez (the famous Sepang Clash and the "kick", you can find this everywhere) It's the most beloved rider. It's on yamaha team
-Marquez: the rider that is supposed to become the new Rossi. He has scored a lot of records because of his youth, and is an amazing rider, he has do unbelievable things. Has 5 championships and is only 24 years old. Honda team and a serious contender this year
-Jorge Lorenzo: my favourite rider, he has a smooth style known as "mantequilla" where he can seems slow but it's breaking the times. He has achieved 5 championships. He had a lot of troubles with his ex-teammate Rossi, and for this (he was not very popular because of his character when he was young, but now he has changed) he moved to Ducati team, searching for the challenge of be (with Stoner) champion with the Ducati, and be one fo the only five riders that had achieved to win in two different bikes. Has 29 years old

-Pedrosa: the eternal second (in spain "el eterno segundón") He came to MotoGP supossing to be the man who would beat Rossi, but because of his size and his totally bad luck, he has never win a championship on motoGP, he has three championships but only in inferior categories. He is a 31yo Honda rider, and wins at least one race per year. Gets competitive when the championship is almost over
-Viñales: the new teammate of Rossi, he has been very fast on preseason and some people starts to call him the Anti-Marquez. Has occupied the Lorenzo's bike when he moved to Ducati. To me, it's the personal Cocksucker of Rossi, the last year Viñales helped Rossi to improve times while they two were in different teams. I can't stand with this things.
-Stoner: it's retired, but was the only one to win with the Ducati. You will see his name a lot of times claiming that he will return, but he prefers to be fishing
-Crutchlow: also know as "Crashlow" because he crash nearly always. He is a good rider in fact, the last year he won two races. It's a Honda Satellite rider
-Iannone: also know as "Il Cannone". The italian rider is known for crash with other riders. This time is on the suzuki bike, so can be guaranteed that he will crash with someone, but the last year on the Ducati, he was a torpedo

I totally recommend you to watch "Hitting the apex" a movie about 2008-2013 MotoGp seasons with nearly all the actual riders, feuds, and these things

morbidelli is the most talented rider in moto2 this season. he has a good start and pace but his problem atleast in the last season is tyres managemet. last season he got a lot of chance to win the race but always choked because his tyres gave up in the last laps. the other contenders like luthi and baldasarri are too incosistent. nakagima is not really brilliant but he is consistent. my guess is morbadelli will easily win moto2 if he is better at tyres management this season. if he is still garbage like last season it will be a good battle between him and nakagami.

Managing tires is so much about your opposition. This year he'll be able to ride much more comfortable and save them better. Luthi is and old fart but he gets the job done. Baldasarri I'm not sure. I agree with Naka but japs are always cool to have on the grid. Alex probably doesn't have the ability of his brother. His career will be about his size not being a disadvantage like it has been for a lot of riders over the years. If he can stay in shape and use his reach to have a better handke on the bike, I think he is capable of beating anybody on any bike. Uncapped potential, it's just a question of how bad he wants it.

That site is accurate on some points (sleep cycles are 1.5 hours long) but its clock is not synced with my local time and it's telling me what (wrong) time to wake up, so it's giving bad advice due to bad coding.

It's also wrong about 6 sleep cycles being healthy. That's 9 hours and is overkill for anyone older than a growing child. 3 cycles is the minimum for a healthy adult, and 4 is acceptable without consequences as long as you're healthy. Averaging 4-5 sleep cycles a night for a whole week, you will not go into sleep deficit unless you started the week already in deficit.

Well there is no external chassis protecting the riders from straight up other vehicles colliding against them. It's riskier and on top of my head, Luis Salom died last year and Simoncelli 2 seasons ago. Iirc in F1 it was Bianchi that actually collided with a big heavy tractor pulling another car off the track that shouldn't be there in the first place in a wet race.
