It's literally why all the a-league clubs were fresh, soulless franchises; all the big clubs in the NSL were basically ethnically tied, and they wanted this element out of the game to try and get rid of hooligans and ethnic clashes

If you created the league with South Melbourne, Sydney Olympic, Marconi etc, you'd basically wind up with Croat club, Italian club, Greek club etc
