The most prestigious and coveted title in club rugby is back. Get hype!

>Friday
Scarlets v Edinburgh
Dragons v Ulster

>Saturday
Zebre v Munster
Leinster v Cardiff
Glasgow v Connacht
Treviso v Ospreys

In other NH competitions
>Premiership
Northampton v Leicester
Saracens v Bath

>Top 14
Racing v Clermont
Pau v La Rochelle

Next week will have the Champions Cup quarter-finals, so these games will be an interesting form guide to see how well clubs can reintegrate their players after the Six Nations.

Also Super Rugby. There's probably some games on in that or something.

Reminder that the Welsh National Rugby Union Team traveled to NZ and got absolutely spanked by the Gallagher Chiefs who had more than half their players missing.

Further reminder that after this embarrassing loss the British and Irish Lions tried to back pedal on their contract which has them playing weakened New Zealand Super Rugby teams mid week. They then entered damage control a year before a game was meant to be played saying they players will be over worked and be unable to perform at their usual strength during the tour.

Either they were cocky that they could just walk over the Chiefs with literally anyone, or they had practiced together.

Also the Chiefs side had 2 or 3 more players missing from their usual game day squad than Wales did (iirc that squad was ~50% of the side that was playing NZ) so that's not really an excuse unless you are saying a hodge-podge team of random kiwis can beat the second string of a tier 1 nation.

These Welsh players had not only trained and played together but the majority were seen as the best picks to play NZ.

Chiefs autism is done. 10 regular first picks out of the 23 man squad.
Any team cohesion excuses for the Welsh are 100% not valid as they apply even more so to the Chiefs. Anything about the strength of the sides is a point for the Chiefs domination of the Welsh being even more impressive.

>Andy Robinson era tier
You know, I don't think Scotland drew with England this year. They were actually beaten quite badly if I recall correctly.

Maybe you mean something else by Andy Robinson era tier. It seems like without a BSE coach to guide the way, you can't even manage a draw. Next year when you lose to England and they aren't able to say they've beaten you for 10 years in a row, be sure to give thanks to Andy Robinson.

Yeah bench player. The casuals over here are screaming for him to be starting. They see flair, attacking and try scoring and just get on board. These same retards want Mckenzie over Smith and Dagg over Smith. Steve Hansen is a scrub. Instead of moving Israel Dagg to the wing where he started his International career off the bench, Hansen decides to move the best fullback in the world there. I was losing my shit for so long that he wouldn't put Dagg on the wing.

Not exactly comparable, but if you are truly fearing for your life, killing your attacker is "ok".
Put it this way, with how you are legally allowed to store your gun you should never be able to get it in a firing condition if someone was attacking you. You have to store your bolts and ammo in a separate lockable location to your guns.

ANY coach who didn't take over the All Blacks

Literally like coaching the Kilkenny hurles, e.g. the bestest team
>>
>>74831739
Hansen took over the All Blacks. Rennie is just an assistant that took the Chiefs to back to back Super Rugby titles as head coach.
I don't like Steve Hansen.
>>
>Rennie was coach of the New Zealand national under-20 rugby union team, under whom the team won three consecutive World titles from 2008 to 2010.[3] In 2012 Rennie became the first first-year Super Rugby coach to win a Super Rugby title when he guided the Chiefs to a 37-6 win over the Sharks. Unfortunately, during the match, Rennie's house was robbed and valuables were stolen, as had similarly occurred to Chiefs player Sonny Bill Williams several weeks earlier.

Why is Hamilton such a shithole lads? Can't wait for the team to be relocated to Tauranga

Stander isn't a meme. SOB is getting picked completely on reputation though. He was famous for "le big carry" but with Stander and Henderson in the side and Cronin usually on the bench, that shouldn't be enough to earn him a starting spot. Injuries have taken their toll unfortunately.

I would go Stander, O'Mahony, Heaslip for the back row, with van der Flier coming in to replace Heaslip long term.

That's a bit redundant. It's like saying "the seas when it's wet".

Besides, Sportsground meme magic is only useful if the team you're playing is better than you. As Connacht have improved, the Sportsground is becoming a bit of a hindrance against weaker teams. It makes it easier for the likes of Edinburgh and Dragons when they visit.

Ireland should be rewarded for having devolped a healthy rugby scene and france should be punished for going the way of english football.
You only need look at the number of foreign players playing domestically to see the contrast the the grass roots health of the game. In ireland it's verdant, in france it's a bit crap, from an outsiders perspective anyway.
>>
>>74845867
I don't think that World Rugby are too anxious to have their tournament pigeon-holed as "the Olympics warm up" either. If Paris gets 2024, LA will probably end up with 2028, and the US are thinking of bidding for 2027 (which I hope Argentina gets btw), echich could leave the RWC in the position of being the Olympic dry-run three times in a row.

It's why the Irish bid keeps emphasising the idea of a tournament "with rugby at it's heart" or "a festival of rugby". They're not-so-subtly drawing attention to that.

What's with everyone selecting 12? Did WR restrict everyone to 12 this year? England used 13 for 2015.

>>74846035
Seems like it's affecting the quality of French rugby too. France was really bad in 2015.

Still, I'm not sure that plays much of a factor when deciding who to host the RWC.

>>74846192
Argentina are in the running for 2027 as well IIRC.

BOD also thinks that this is the largest sporting event Ireland can handle (I disagree with him on that, but well) so they're going all out for it instead of having it be a dry run. Then again making the RWC a dry run for the Olympics could raise the profile of rugby for the Olympics.
>>

Looking back we actually didn't deserve to win that at all?
Like what did we score at most one penalty in the second half?
80 minute game played for 40 and expected to win..... nah
>>
>>74848090
It's more about how they're saying it. France want the World Cup because they want the Olympics. Ireland want the World Cup because they want the World Cup.

If World Rugby make a habit of giving the RWC to places that only want it as part of their angling for a bigger event, it's going to sort of devalue the tournament, isn't it? It's like rugby is just prepping the bull.
>>
>>74848228
Yeah, but here 12 are proposed and World Rugby will cut that number down even further.

Besides if the idea was to make sure everyone in the country can watch at least one match, wouldn't it make more sense to use more cities?
>>
>>74848266
>Besides if the idea was to make sure everyone in the country can watch at least one match, wouldn't it make more sense to use more cities

It's Ireland. It's an area the size of Tasmania. They could have 2 stadiums and everyone would be within a comfortable drive of a game.

Only fans I have ever seen challenge someone to a fight are Crusaders and Chiefs.

At least the Chiefs supporters have the excuse that their team are roughians that fight people and are in general despicable humans off the field.
>>
If you squint your eyes so you can't see the score, you can imagine the hurricanes are playing and that it's not a shit game.

reminder every time you get a concussion you increase your risk of alzheimers by a huge amount

Exactly.
Never has Hurricanes /heart/ lad challenge someone to a fight. Or any Cheetahs fans or Reds fans.

Jags fan did say he was going to commit suicide but that's not fighting.

They don't really have any technique when they tackle, they kind of just throw their bodies at eachother, hence the bigger hits.

>>

Obviously.

Concussion is brain rattling in the skull, not the blunt trauma to the skull itself.

Gloves in boxing and helmets in American football are perfect examples. Although part of the problem in American, is that they lead with the head and target the head. You could likely cut their concussion rate in half by eliminating helmets from the game at youth levels, and implementing it into higher levels as the generation progresses.

Look at motorsports, they have the HANS device to prevent the helmet whipping about. Because concussion is not prevented by helmets.

Helmets prevent you head getting popped like a melon. That is all.

>>74850390
yeah right keyboard warrior i believe your 100kg but i reckon your 5"8 you fat fucking manlet cunt. come to the BK at midnight if you want the bash

>>74850457
Maybe its because Jafas have been replaced by chinks and dotheads. the Hurricanes circlejerk society are massive homosexuals and scared to fight. Highlanders true fans are always up for a scrap but the weak cunt students are a bunch of cocksuckers
