>I just get the impression he's getting babbied into being the next golden boy of F1.

Reminds me of the Brazilian GP last year.

Nico had a twitch before corner 3 (or whatever is it).
That gave Max a huge run on Nico, so
Max went off line around the outside to pass Nico

When he was off line, he discovered there was more grip out there, so he started using that line from then on.

Cue Martin Brundle for the rest of the race:
>"hurr hurr how does he know there's more grip out there. No one else has even thought of taking that line. Max is so amazing. That boy will be world champion some day."

So many fanboys, especially in the media, are so committed to the "Max is a future WDC" narrative, that everything he does is twisted to meet their confirmation bias.

>muh corner cutting

Sure, remember when Hamilton cut the corner on lap 1 and nothing came of it? It's bullshit but I can see why Verstappen assumed it is allowed because the stewards didn't punish anyone else for doing it

>muh exceeding track limits

Everyone does this, plus when has this been a particular problem with Max specifically?

>muh moving under braking

Not illegal at the time because it was the first defensive change of direction he made, which is pretty much "loophole" tier but not illegal. I don't have a problem with any of his moves aside from the Kemmel straight one which was just dangerous and stupid

>muh forcing another driver off track

Not illegal, happens all the time. Literally Hamilton's signature move. Some people know how to do it, some people don't.

>muh double/multiple defensive moves

More like a loophole, not really illegal because of the way he does it. Plus I don't really see an issue in actually trying to defend a position?

'Legal' but still cunt move bonuses:
>muh screw strategy and burn away my tyres because I'm not here to finish

This is retarded I agree

>muh disobeying team orders even though I am clearly holding up my teammate

When has this ever happened? It's hard to argue Sainz was ever in a position where he was actually faster than Verstappen? Plus the Ricky/Max Malaysia battle was Ricky holding up Max, who was on a different strategy and without the VSC and Ham explosion the strategy would have panned out as HamVerRic

Schumi did the same sort of shit except even worse on occasion yet people class that under his amazing dedication and passion for the sport blah blah even though Schumi straight up tried to kill people on track

TLDR you are a buttmad idiot

I do think the steward's treatment of Max is occasionaly questionable though. Either be harsh to everyone or be as lenient as with Max to everyone. Consistency is key, hopefully based ROSS THE BOSS will fix the stewards shit and being so emotional

>>
What is it with Hamilton and him constantly going into the wrong pit?
>>
>>74770410

It's cunty but you could argue that he is simply following the racing line in the first instance, setting up for the left hander, than the move onto the left is the actual defensive move, therefore allowed. What drivers don't like is that Max only defends once the driver behind chooses their overtaking side and commits to it. Then again these are supposed to be the best drivers in the world so it shouldn't be some sort of nice guy central where every pass is done without issue.

I think in an alternative life Max could be a good lawyer.

Blue dot is the collision which is a weird spot because Kimi looked like he was trying to dive down the inside after having a look outside then bails then collides
If he committed to a move it might have stuck instead of changing his mind mid move

Apart from Schumi, name a driver who could have finished second in a race even when he only had one gear for 75% of the race, including two pit stops.

Apart from Schumi, name a driver who could have set the fastest lap in Monaco qualifying at the age of 43.

Apart from Schumi, name a driver who could have won the 1995 Belgian GP from 16th on the grid while staying out on wet track on slicks and keeping a Williams with wet weather tires behind him.

It was still illegal.

>Everyone does this
And most have been penalized/had their quali time deleted. Not max tho. Hence it became a particular max issue.

>Not illegal at the time because it was the first defensive change of direction he made, which is pretty much "loophole" tier but not illegal. I don't have a problem with any of his moves aside from the Kemmel straight one which was just dangerous and stupid
I remember there being some paragraph/rule stating something along the lines of generally doing anything that could be endangering another driver resulting in penalty.

>Not illegal, happens all the time. Literally Hamilton's signature move. Some people know how to do it, some people don't.
If it's not illegal, how come Rosberg was penalized for doing it in Hockenheim last year?
Hamilton and Verstappen getting away with it just because they're doing it smoothly doesn't make it any less illegal.

>So many fanboys, especially in the media, are so committed to the "Max is a future WDC" narrative, that everything he does is twisted to meet their confirmation bias.

Actually, another example from Verstappen that race.

In the rain, slight curve but more or less in a straight line, suddenly losses traction and spins before he can react.
He slams on the brakes, holds the wheel straight, and rides out the spin.
Thanks to there being a heap of tarmac where he spun, he scrubs off enough speed and doesn't hit anything.

Media and fanboys shit their pants about his "amazing save", when he was nothing but a passenger.
"Proof" once again that he is a "future world champion".

Compare that to Joylen Palmer at Monaco.
In the rain, slight curve but more or less in a straight line, suddenly losses traction and spins before he can react.
Thanks to it being Monaco, there's no room, and he goes straight in the wall.

Media and fanboys pile shit on him.
"Proof" that he is a shit pay driver.

The difference is that verstappen calculates based on the distance from the wall at all times how much throttle he could apply in case he spun. He predicted a 50% chance of a spun a few meters ahead actually because you can see how he lifts the throttle before.

Palmer just drives like an ape reacting to what happens.

>>74770843

I know that's what he was referencing but was Sainz actually faster than Max in that race? Or in that part of the race? I don't remember the specifics of it.

>>74771011

Your problem is that you are trying to find consistency and logic in the steward's decisionmaking.

Stewards are ex-drivers and their decision making process can literally be "fuck that was awesome, lets not penalize i

Stewards generally tend to have a leniency towards e.g. Hamilton and Verstappen, and a "dislike" for lack of a better word towards e.g. Gimi and Rosberg.

Plus re: the forcing someone wide thing, if it is done well (Hamilton, Max) it isn't forcing someone wide, it's simply making the opposing car drive such a line that they will have no option but to either back out of it or go wide. There was a lengthy discussion regarding this over here including diagrams and whatnot. It's not "forcing" someone wide, its assuming such a line (generally just the racing line) in such a way that the other driver has to make the decision to either go wide, back out, or crash. It's been done in racing since forever and its not illegal unless it is a forceful pushing wide like you see in Nascar and whatnot. Dirty yes but it is just what happens in circuit racing.

if you want great driving then you need to race vs real people in a league invironment. that's prolly the only option.

Rosberg and Max spun in the same spot, and made the same standard save, but when Max does it it's an "EPIC SAVE THAT PROVES HE'S A FUTURE WORLD CHAMPION".
>>
>>74771667

Stop playing F1 games online?

Actually I don't know what's worse, trying to race online or trying to race the shitty AI. Those games can be alright (I have several hundred hours clocked in across the various titles lmao) but it is hard to take them seriously with things like scripted tire wear, tire wear glitches, AI either being total cucks (F1 2013) and never passing, and if they do pass you they are automatically like 1 second faster than you and you cannot catch up to them no matter what you do, or being meme divebombers (F1 2016) thanks to slipstream that is like 5x more powerful than in real life

Has anyone ever actually caught up to a race leader in the F1 games? I honestly don't think it's possible. Especially like Vettel in 2013 seems so ridiculously overpowered that if he is up front he will drive borderline quali laps without tire wear being an issue and its practically impossible to keep up to him both in terms of tire wear and fuel consumption.

I'm talking expert and legendary difficulty settings

I am aware of the stewards biases, mate.
My point is, if they weren't giving him any special treatment, he'd be plastered with penalties and most likely be sent back to Toro Rosso IF stewards (plus the media and RB) weren't shilling for the >future schumi narrative.

I'm not trying to deny that he's talented.
Him being babbied even harder than Vettel or Hamilton and having the cuntiest attitude just makes him unlikeable to me, though.
It also makes it impossible to judge whether he's genuinely good or not.
The babbying sure as hell doesn't make a good expression though. Same goes for Hamilton and Vettel as well.

About the forcing wide: I really don't see how your explanation isn't still forcing wide, kek. That is what I meant by Hamilton and Verstappen doing it 'smoother'. But I see it as part of racing anyway. No point in continuing discussing this.

The few fans that backed him from Aussie said I told you so
The bandwagon fans claimed to be long time fans and said I told you so
The Lewlew haters laughed at Lewis
The Lewis fans said he was cheated

Replace Lewis with Danny and Bossberg with max and that will be what happens (assuming it's a race internally for RBR). Plus the invasion of "long time fan" toothpastes.

I guess the Lewis haters will still laugh at him too.

probably not. anon's gut feeling is that nowadays the average driver's skill level is much higher than the 'back in muh day' types would have you believe. the safety cuckery makes it less of a 'men from the boys' delimitation between good and bad drivers and that raises the level of competition.

in other words being able to push it farther without dying actually makes the drivers with less 'feel' and intelligence faster and decreases the advantage good drivers have.

let alone the fact if you copy-pasta'd a 70's wdc into the modern computer driven f1 they would be totally lost.

So it takes away from driver skill and makes it easier to drive on the limit, and that is somehow raising the level of competition?

No way, certainly not right off the bat.

The thing with older F1 is that there was actually very little for the driver to do aside from drive. Of course the consequences of fucking up were massive but the driver was predominantly focused on keeping the car on the road. Nowadays the drivers do so much additional stuff from the engine modes, tire saving, fuel saving, changing brake balance and various other settings, talking on the radio. Many current drivers like Alonso and Ricciardo have talked about how much stuff there is to do, that the actual driving of it is mostly just automatic and a lot of "brain power" is spent on the other shit. Kind of a different world to "go as fast as possible and dont kill yourself".

Plus the level of strategy and whatnot back in the day really wasn't that complex, only in the 80s did the sport really start to develop massively aside from simply building cars that go fast.

Similarly though, if you put a modern F1 driver in a 70s car and told them to drive that in anger in an actual race, they would probably be backmarkers. Half the current grid has never even driven anything other than a hybrid V6 F1 so even having a car capable of wheelspin is probably a new thing for them

Ok it was poorly expressed but the current gen cars really aren't that "unforgiving" or brutal, like in the sense that it looks like they have way too much power or something. Of course there's wheelspin on the starts and stuff but accelerating out of even a slow corner like Monza T1 is pretty much full throttle by 2nd gear and the acceleration is so linear and smooth. If the FOM telemetry is accurate in the slightest, the drivers are on full throttle almost immediately and just keep their foot planted and the car just goes.

e.g. Martin Brundle talked about how the sensation of accelerating in these cars is so strange because its so direct and immediate, like due to the hybrid nature of the PU, the power basically never stops coming and the "gaps" of the V6 are filled by the electric unit. Compare this to something from the 70s or 80s, e.g. the Lotus from 85 or 86 whatever that had way too much power and got wheelspin even in the higher gears if you pressed down full throttle, it's just a different world.

Plus even though "traction control" is not allowed, the current PU's are designed and modeled to essentially control the feeding of the power in such a way that it is pretty close to traction control anyway.
>>
>>74777301

If you paid attention to Ricciardo's body language in Spain and Monaco, you can tell that he is extremely affected by things like teammates winning, or him not winning a race he should have. Also how relieved he was to win a race in Malaysia.

Amx is stone cold autismo and will just rage drive until he wins, Ricciardo WILL go full Webber if Verstappen starts doing well. Like if Verstappen wins e.g. 3 races and Ricciardo has won none that season, it's going to destroy him mentally and then he will be taking private counseling sessions from Mark Webber and its just going to be a clusterfuck that he will never recover from.

I predict Ricciardo will leave Red Bull for Ferrari maybe as soon as 2018, only to have his career decline rapidly because >Ferrari

>Plus even though "traction control" is not allowed, the current PU's are designed and modeled to essentially control the feeding of the power in such a way that it is pretty close to traction control anyway.
Engine mapping is the difference not power 2bh. There is a video of an electric car going like the clappers and the driver hits full power and wheel spins while going 100+ km/h. Electric instant power has a huge capability to wheelspin all the time and be crazy uncontrollable, they just map the torque ect so well that it will never happen in f1.

Sarcasm or not? I know nothing about ragbi.
>>

Yeah of course it does, and as you said, you won't and don't see it in F1. My primary point being that the driver's main concern when in 3rd-4th gear isn't "I wonder if the rear is going to snap out and I will die when I hit this exposed barrier"
>>
>>74779572
no ironing. not sure if kids are totally free but the prices are very low for them which makes it very popular for families which creates long-term fans which is good for the sports etc.

In the summer, sure. It's not exactly a tourist destination but its a nice little city with a good vibe IMO. Plenty of decent bars and whatnot downtown and good clean nature is just 10 minute drive away, which could be said for the majority of Finland though lol. City is growing fast for Finnish standards with a bunch of shit being built all the time. Most growth happening now that I can recall, comparing to the 90s and 2000's at least when I was living here previously although I was a kid back then so maybe I just didn't pay attention.

>>74779744

Having lived in both first world and third world countries, both have their pros and cons. Third world, well not total famine third world but "developing" countries are arguably more fun because everything is less strict and if you have even like minimum-wage-in-first-world-country-tier wages in such a country you can live pretty extravagantly. Countries like Finland are pretty good for actual things like having good roads and healthcare and actually having things work and being able to depend on people in a professional sense, which isn't as exciting but it makes things a lot simpler when you're attempting to be a functional adult with a job etc

Interesting. I mean if you lived like a "local" and not a tourist with a like 1300-1500 euro budget per month,

Of course it gets just outrageous when western companies hire western employees with wages higher than what they would earn back home and place them in a country where the standards of living and overall costs are so much lower that its basically a millionaire simulator despite being nowhere near that level of earning.

Yeah that makes more sense. Minimum wage tier pay would get someone all the necessities and theyd have next to nothing for themselves. No way they'd get a home for themselves though, it'd be rent for life.

Let me ask one thing, why do kids nowadays spend so much time watching other people play? Back in my day all we did was watch some highlights of some top pro once or twice on youtube.

your team as in the team you play with? Or do you actually cheer for a team like football?

I get that some matches can be exciting but my little brother literally spends his whole day watching some dude playing with his head floating in a square the corner. Is he making jokes?

Yes, I asked him but he told me to fuck off.
>>
>>74782833
Yes I cheer for a team, they're a very inconsistent team who usually perform either extremely well or extremely badly but it's fun to have a favourite.

I only watch tournaments, what your brother watches is just the live streams of professional players I assume, it's usually american players who stream the most and unsurprisingly they also perform the worst in tournaments.

Two fuel stops given a moderate load. One tech stop in Dubai on the EK flight. Assuming you planned your stops in the right places, and the way that FBOs handle private flights, the difference wouldn't be that much.

NBCSN is fine for the most part - many of the commercial breaks will still have the race running in real time in the corner of the screen, and anything that you do miss in a break will just be shown in a replay.

This is assuming that you get NBCSN or Live Extra. If you have to stream it, then yeah you might as well look for BBC/Sky.
