Barstool from like 09-2014 was very heavy Boston/Frat Bro. But the past 2 years they have kinda slowed that down and went for a bigger audience as they realize there is a demand for a sports media company with direct contacts but also one that doesnt really give a fuck and will do whatever. They have a good amount of shitty writers but a lot of their content is pretty good, they continue to make their fans their personal army and shit on businesses or journalists who talk shit about them.

When I was going to school in Boston in 09-10 it was fine for a laugh coming back home from a night out or my friends browsing it in class during shitty lectures. It got bad when they started expanding into more cities and I can't imagine anyone still reading or finding that shtick funny in 17. Sleazy shit seeing 30+ year olds trying to hold neon and bubble parties.

It's the best "sports blogging" site because they don't give a shit and embrace how dumb they are.

Imagine Deadspin is like the Something Awful of sports bloggers, where they are shit, but they're all up their own ass about how great they are, and how much better and more cultured than everyone else they are. Incredibly preachy. Deadspin wants you to believe that they are the "small time good guys" vs big bad sports media companies like ESPN, but that they're also muh legitimate news source that really makes you think.

Now look at Barstool, it's run by retards who embrace how retarded sports are, constantly banter and fight in the office. They write idiotic homer shit which actually has a market in the world now because people are so sick of having to "think critically" and criticism their own teams to the point of hating them and their own fans, they just want to root for their own teams.

It's basically the 4chan of the "sports blogging" world, it's a shit site but it embraces being shit and that's why its good for a laugh every now and again. They don't preach and don't really push an agenda other than gambling. And because they don't give a fuck they're actually probably the most plugged in, they regularly get actual athletes to come on to their shows (hockey guys like Taylor Hall came in to shoot pucks at their president, Pat McAfee retired from the NFL to go there, Chris Long goes on podcasts, etc) as opposed to whiny cucks like Kluwe.

Much like 4chan you need to sift through the piles of shit to find decent stuff. Their podcasts are the actually genuinely good content, particularly PMT and Chiclets (KFC Radio sucks because KFC is a whiny retard). The livestreams they do of their bloggers having to watch a playoff elimination game is top tier content as well.
