>What should really raise our attention is that incredibly fast, low-degradation stint from Mercedes on the medium compound. Here are the raw lap-times from that stint.

>This is a shockingly stable stint, with no sign of the tyres taking serious punishment, suggesting the driver is still some way from the ragged edge of performance. Even if we assume the car was carrying only 7 laps of fuel, the fuel-adjusted time for this stint is seriously impressive: a base time of 84.7 seconds and a degradation rate of 0.08 seconds/lap. Contrast this to the Ferrari race stints with a base time of 86.0 seconds and a degradation rate of 0.02 seconds/lap. Clearly there is a lot of performance left on the table by Ferrari there, given the almost negligible degradation rate, but could they trim 1.3 seconds while keeping a degradation rate as low as 0.08 seconds/lap? I am somewhat doubtful. This stint is in some ways the most impressive thing I saw from this test, and enough for me to stop short of making any firm conclusions on Ferrari vs. Mercedes. We will simply need to wait for the first few races to tell. As a fan, that’s a genuinely exciting position to hold at the end of testing.

So are you proving my point? None of that has a any decisive information.

His pace is well bellow the limit and 7 laps are meaningless to measure tire deg specially in the cold conditions.

the point is that both ferrari and mercedes weren't going full-out but for the data available that stint is really impressive. there isn't an apples to apples comparison with ferrari but with fuel correction to full-tank times mercedes looks much faster.

imo f1metrics guy never addresses the engine mode question, i.e. the known unknown of whether that stint was Mercedes at the highest setting and Ferrari on a lower one.
>>
>>74732527
Yeah, I just took a look at his page, I guess its a decent stint. I didn't see it was on mediums.

I dont think Mercedes ever used anything above 85% in this test.
>>

This last time she was apparently doing 35 in a 30 zone (mph). Not sure how she feels while doing it, but that's pretty much normal driving tbhfam.
>>
>>74733173
There is a square I drive around on the way home. Last night I went the opposite way around and bet the queue of 5 or 6 cars in front of me.
I felt like a racer 2bh.
Purple is the usual way. Yellow has to give way when merging at the top so is usually slower like.

Anyone else do little things like this when driving?
>>
>>74733228
But she must have previous offenses then?

>This last time she was apparently doing 35 in a 30 zone (mph).

>>
>>74733173

Actual quotes:

>I'm not a girl racer, I save my speed for the race track. It is a hugely embarrassing situation to find myself in, I'm a professional driver and to be caught speeding and to have my licence taken away for speeding, it would have an effect on my reputation

>Mrs Wolff added that she is a "role model" to the hundreds of girls her charity, Dare to be Different, is aiming to help and did not want to let them down. She also said she would not be able to fully participate in the charity's events or do her job promoting Mercedes if she was not able to drive

>But Recorder Sarah Campbell dismissed her appeal and told her: "It may well be an embarrassment as far as her position is concerned, but it may be a salutary lesson to those aware of the facts."

Susie with SUCH piss poor reasoning.

>>
>>74733644
What don't you get?
The usual path in purple has right of way around the square. (you have green spaces like squares or something in USA right? Like a park but not a park)
I went the other way which has to give way at the top of the square ( I think Americans call them yields? The not stop signs that you have to give way if there is cars coming) but I bet the queue of cars in front of me that was 5 or 6 cars long so I could pull out in front of them. I bet them because regular drivers go slowly around the corners of the square but I know I can go the speed limit around them.
I felt like a racer passing them by driving quickly around when they slowed for the corners.

I currently run an F1 2016 league which is going well if not for the God awful netcode that makes me want to neck myself. I hope they make a huge step forward with 2017 because Codemasters need to up their game, we tried running the league with realistic car performance and AI but the AI are incapable of driving a clean race alongside human players without driving into your racing line.

I'm convinced I need to jump ship and move the league over to either rfactor 1/2 or assetto corsa but I need assistance and recommendations, I will do everything in my power to make this happen if you guys want it.

As much fun as it sounds right now, I think it'd be wiser to start small & simple, why put tons of effort into setting-up online only 6 of us would show-up for?

I propose we do our own 'pre-season testing', we pick a game, vanilla car & track (or mods) and just hold a simple time trial. This would let us a.) see how many are interested/available, b.) see where we all stack-up against one another, and c.) find out if it's worth putting effort into setting up something bigger.

Assetto Corsa has a 2017 F1 mod now and a vanilla Barcelona. rF2 has neither atm but I did find a 2016 pay-league mod that's good. CodeMasters is a question mark atm.

kek, that's just Redditors being retarded and not knowing how Reddit works.

They found a post from a bot saying that there was a huge subscriber number growth at /r/Hennostream/
>http://redditmetrics.com/r/hennostream
> +2,732 subscribers

Being retards, they automatically assumed that meant Henno was setting the subreddit up again right now!

If they weren't retarded, they would have noticed that bot post was from a month ago (Feb 13)
And if they had have been paying attention at the time, they would have known it was triggered by Daryl making the subreddit public again so he could post his dindu nuffin goodbye post.

>pic related, screenshot posted Feb 14 on /f1/ according to 4plebs, note the sub count: 2,732

Bottom line: HENNO IS KILL and he's not coming back, despite Reddit fantasies to the contrary.

>>
>>74750668
>I've heard most aids actually slow the car down.
True for the most part, but there are some instances where they'll allow you to be faster.

Imagine Monaco with TC for example, those who have it will have a easier, more consistent race than those w/o - even if not outright faster lap-by-lap.
But controller-users only have like, less than an inch of trigger-pull to modulate throttle, vs multiple inches on a pedal set, so that's where allowing aides helps bring them back to wheel-tier competition, makes one part of the equation easier for them to control.

At this point I think it may be my motherboard desu. I really suck at diagnosing things though so I'm probably wrong. However, my keyboard and mouse sometimes shit out as well so that's why I think it's the MB, anyway I'm gonna plug it into the rear 2.0 USB port instead of the one on the front of the case and maybe that will help.

I always feel bad about other nations when I watch races at 14h but having it right after lunch really takes so much time away from the day for normie activities, I basically get nothing done, because there's always more memes to be shared, more conent to be watched. With the early morning races I just wake up early, watch the gridwalk, race and maybe podium, go back to sleep and start a normal day, albeit a bit later.

Lets talk about /r/f1's Snoo
u/guntis
Greetings,

So, here are my thoughts on the subject.

New season is less than a week away. Let's prepare ourselves. I understood why we had Senna as a Snoo. He was an icon and rightfully earned his place. After Bianchi's accident changing the Snoo was again the right thing to do. To show some respect, prove that he's in our thoughts.

But I feel like that that chapter is done. We should look into the future, appreciate things we already have not remind ourselves constantly of people we've lost.

So I think the best thing to do is to change the Snoo to current world champion (Yes, I'm aware that I have ROS flair). And here's why:

He's the top of the world, place earned
We're not putting being biased towards any driver/team.
Every year potentially having other WDC, there's possible diversity
We're following the times, being modern, as we and sport should
Current one looks small and outdated
So talk is cheap, that's why I'm proposing something like this:

Snoo:
http://i.imgur.com/jsRgcbJ.png

Concept of how it might look:
http://i.imgur.com/bWe2Fxb.jpg

Anyway, I hope this sparks some discussion.

And if anyone's interested in making their own take on Snoo, I've made a vector already that you can download to fit your needs.

Cheers!

>people actually think that Merc accidentally dropped the ball and allowed some spaghetti niggers to develop a better car than them

The last time Ferrari was truly great, their closest rivals were McLaren with Mr Autism in charge and Williams, both with a considerably smaller budget. Then Renault and Alonso came along and memed two championships with le trick front suspension and accompanying driving style specifically developed for that car because Alonso is a full blown burger.

Don't get me wrong, I truly hate Mercedes as a team, but why does everyone think that they somehow aren't going to be the best? They were so dominant in the past 3 years that they could have stopped development by Silverstone entirely and still won both titles. I really really don't think Ferrari is going to be the magic team that is going to finally be the Mercedes killer. And even if they somehow manage to bring the best car to Melbourne next week, both Red Bull and Mercedes will have outdeveloped them by Canada.

Now Red Bull might be another story. They are pretty much renowned for their in-season development and are seemingly going that path this season. Get a good basic car going with no issues, then add shit every weekend until you've got a car that's on rails.

This desu

>not supporting the most exciting and arguably talented newcomer since Lewis Hamilton

Yea he's a bit of a cunt and his fans are insufferable, just like Hamilton, but I honestly can't even interpret Max hate as anything else other than being buttblasted. I guess it's mostly Australians still traumatized from >Webber, and Germans mad because their carbabby "new schumi" keeps getting BTFO by Max.

Max actually fights for positions, actually defends overtakes, drives aggressive, overtakes in unexpected places, pushes too hard, shows emotion on track, rages etc etc. It's not all great but at least it's not a mechanized computer-assisted ultra pragmatic driving style that won't defend a DRS overtake because it would affect tire wear too much. I won't bother with the "new Senna" comparisons but he certainly has something that has the makings of that sort of "legendary" driver. I mean he still has Joss the Boss genetics in his system so maybe he will chimp out and burn bridges and end up driving a backmarker but if he keeps his head together he could easily go on to do great things.

I'm honestly surprised he is seemingly particularly good in "real world" racing, i.e. wheel to wheel and overtaking, and not that impressive in quali. It often is the other way around when it comes to this newer generation of sim-babbies who spend their time hotlapping in their home simulator. See e.g. Stroll. Or maybe Ricciardo is just severely underappreciated as a qualifier.

Plus if Max doesn't kill himself, he has about 2 decades left in this sport, so having a fully negative opinion of him is just going to make things miserable in the longrun, especially if/when he goes on a Schumi-tier spree in about a decade.

Worst thing about Max last year was how RB reacted to his on track shenanigans afterwards. Yea the same Jos Verstappen who in his debut season scored his career-best 3rd place in a car that Schumacher won the championship in? Lmao mate since when did Jos have any sort of real hype around him? And if he did it was pretty quickly removed after he actually started racing in F1. Considering his debut season was shit compared to his teammate, and considering that was the highlight of his career, I don't think anyone was talking that highly about Jos.

There's no need to buy into media hype when you can watch the races yourself and make decisions based on what you see. Most F1 journalists aside from a select few are a total joke and seemingly just go for hyped up clickbait hyperbole articles these days

Bullshit. Vettel is the only person I sincerely enjoy getting BTFO by the cunt.

I would not give a single fuck about him if it weren't for his ridiculous meme driving style being overlooked by the stewards while every other driver except Hamilton ends up with penalties doing the exact same shit or seemingly even more harmless moves.

Max in a nutshell:
>muh corner cutting
>muh exceeding track limits
>muh moving under braking
>muh forcing another driver off track
>muh double/multiple defensive moves

'Legal' but still cunt move bonuses:
>muh screw strategy and burn away my tyres because I'm not here to finish
>muh disobeying team orders even though I am clearly holding up my teammate

I just get the impression he's getting babbied into being the next golden boy of F1.
But yeah, we should all just get used to him and just start liking him like we do with Hamilton and Vettel amirite :^)

Max definitely felt like he was being treat with kiddie gloves and getting away with shit he had no right to.

I just worry he was promoted too soon and it's gone to his head - he should have been left in TR for the rest of the year and then bumped up to Red Bull after being made to appreciate what he was getting.

A shame - I really don't want to dislike the guy, since he's easily one of the best racers on the track, but it's hard when he's pulling bullshit and getting away with it - just feels like the F1 officials are wanting to manufacture another boy wonder and don't want pesky things like rules getting in the way.

I think the only 100% bullshit max got away with was in Spa.

>Inb4 not handing the place to Seb in Mexico

The stewards never told him to give the place back during the race. Imo the reason the stewards didn't order max to give the place back during the race is because Lewy got away with a more severe cornercut earlier that race on the same corner.
>>
>>74768310
I don't get it
>>
>>74768936
Mexico was pure pottery though. I don't think anyone can mark that against Max
>Does the same thing as Lewlew so the stewards can't punish him because they didn't punish Lewlew
>gets Vetlel absolutely seething
>Vetlel does the very thing he has been campaigning against and gets penalised for it
>Riccy wins (3rd) again
>Amx happily celebrates his moral victory with Riccy's actual victory
>>
>>74768869
To be desu I think part of all this is because the FIA see's a different kind of racing and new excitement and wants to see how it pans out.
One could penalize things to death but nobody wants to see drivers with one hand on the wheel and a rulebook in the other and that's been one of the bigger complaints in F1.

So wont be surprised if they are letting it play out more (which was also by team-demand) and use amx in this way because he is the one wanting to push borders.

remember that teams asked the FIA not to be so autistic about the rules.
>>
>>74768936
>>74770329
I think AMX was in the wrong, but Vettel and to a lesser extent Hamilton too. Other then Hamilton I think the results were fine; should have been ROSHAMRIC imo

Vettel was the one that really got exposed. Not sure why people still think he isn't a complete babby. The RBR was more dominant then the Merc's, but even so he barely won two of the years.
>>
>>74770973
I'd be fine with lessening up on rules, but there's limits.
When all the other drivers are agreeing not to be overly defensive during breaking zones, and one guy is - that's a problem.
When drivers are taking huge bloody detours off the track and skipping entire corners, gaining an advantage from it - that's a problem. At least with Hamilton earlier on you can argue he didn't gain much from it, not sure you can argue the same about Max, though I'd have penalized Hamilton too - though really there should have been a physical barrier somewhere on that corner to begin with imo.

I'm fine with easing up on rules, the ban on team radio nonsense is asinine and I agree, drivers should be trying to race, no remember rules trivia - but these were hardly convoluted rules and the big problem is everyone else was playing by them.
