She didn't get caught doping. Oh and if you're suggesting that meldonium qualifies as doping then you have 0 clue about performance enhancing drugs. I'm an amateur boxer (I don't get paid for bouts yet) and I'm already on much heavier drugs in terms of performance improvement and they're perfectly legal. I might be from butthurt belt, but I can see a political intrigue in this from mile away, they ruined careers of several Russian athletes banning meldonium even there's virtually no evidence it had any effect on overall athleticism.

It reduces the carnitine transport of fatty acids into the muscle, which forces the body to rely more on glucose. It improves endurance, mental capacity, etc. There's other substances that can push the metabolism in the same direction, with presumably the same benefits, and it's unlikely all of them are banned. She must have really loved the benefits she was getting to ignore her doctor and the anti-doping agency.

Now, while I think she made a stupid decision by continuing to take it when she knew she would be tested, Meldonium seems reasonably safe, and even has health benefits. I'm not sure how it's determined what is too beneficial for performance. Caffeine could theoretically be banned.
