So, what exactly is Billy Belichick's draft strategy? Does he just amass picks and hope one of them produces?

we basically just out-possessed them the entire game, 38 minutes of possession to 21.

got a couple early redzone stops and then just ran it down their throats with ryan mathews (lol) and smallwood. julio still torched us but he had a few key drops, and we kept them out of the endzone besides a fluke deep ball.

second best defensive performance of the season for us tbqh

Draft entirely defensive players in the hopes that they continue to hold on long enough while Tom Brady does his work on the opposite end of the field

In reality though, Bill's a good drafter, not great, but certainly good. Especially among LB and DT

267 isn't that big...
i'm 235 at an inch shorter and I'm average as fuck so when you factor in things like muscle Lacy isn't really fat at all
this was all a scape goat by McCarthy for the 2015 season and latter a false flag by Ted to lower his value after he had his best season last year
it's really pathetic and telling that all of you ignorant saps are falling for it but my Seahawks know better
>>
>>74685814
yeah, i mean what originally started this train of thought was me comparing the eagles-falcons game to the super bowl. it doesn't really matter that julio is uncoverable if the offense can't get on the field.

to further that point, i think the fact that atlanta was such a big play offense actually hurt them in both game. big julio gains and freeman or coleman breaking loose happened a lot early on, and that plus the pick six resulted in atlanta jumping out to an early lead without ever really tiring out the pats defense. similarly in our game, the falcons either got stonewalled out of the endzone or broke a big play, e.g. the long gabriel TD that was their only score of the game.

the pats and eagles both controlled the ball in their wins, the pats through short passes and james white, and the eagles through running the ball and dumping it off to sproles/ertz/jmatt.

It's more or less the same criticism of the wide open offense since the days of air corryell. Defense wins championships but they only in the sense that they *have* to have a major stop every quarter. This was the Achilles heel of the failcons. Their defense simply couldn't sustain success through any game. I think the purest proof of this is deion/Charles Haley literally making champs out of SF/Dallas while their offensive counterparts received the glory. Footballs weird that way.

Is it safe to assume ezekiel elliot didn't get ROTY because he's a straight nig?

>>74687372
I live in california so I've only ever been out to fenway twice

my very first game there I was attending with my grandpa, who had fucked up knees and had a handicapped placard and everything, so the first thing we did was go to the customer service booth and exchanged our tickets for handicapped seating so he didn't have to walk up and down the rows to our seats. And while we were there, they gave us the whole "first time to frenway package" that included little stickers and shit, and the main guy working there said they still needed to pick a fan to walk out onto the field in between innings to go hang out inside the green monster for an inning, where they change the scoreboard manually and all that shit, so I was like hell yeah sign me up. They told me to come back to the booth after the top half of the 4th inning was over so that they could walk me through the stadium onto the field level in between the 4th and 5th.

So I come back and this guy starts leading me through the park, where all the field technician shit was, like rakes and john deere gators and shit, it was pretty cool, but the guy got a little lost so we ended up having to run around like chickens with our heads caught off until we ended up on the field level of the 3rd base line where one of the ball girls sits because she was gonna escort me onto the outfield and into the green monster but we were obviously a little late, so we pretty much ran full sprint across the field as the players were just standing there waiting for me to get inside so they could start the inning because they had already finished warming up lmao. So I inadvertently, delayed the game by about a minute or two, and I ran about 10 feet by Carl Crawford, what a bum that guy turned out to be.

being inside the green monster itself was pretty cool, the guys inside were using espn to check the scores and update the board that way haha

it was all pretty cash, that's a memory I'll never forget.

Lions unironically have a very good chance to win the nfc north this year. If we get some defensive help during the draft, we might just win a playoff game. The vikes and Bears I'm not worried about, and the packers at best are the same, and likely got a bit worse despite acquiring Bennet.

Depends. He definitely wasn't at his best, especially when it comes to throwing deep or under pressure but Patriots had an 8-8 roster when considering how hard injuries, FA and off the field issues hit them.

Gronk, Mayo, Welker, Hernandez, Vollmer, Wilfork, Brandon Lloyd, Woodhead or left, landed on IR or got jailed for murder. Brady was literally without his top 5 targets from the previous season so I still consider 2013 to be better than 2009.

the Patriots bandwagoners are still out in force.

Even though they lost Bennett and took a guy that Brees was making look good. Somehow they still "won" free agency.
As if anyone truly believes Tom is as good as Brees throwing the ball at this point in their careers.
(Brees still has a top arm, great mid range, and accurate deep ball, Tom doesn't have any of that)
Cooks will be a memey check down now just like Edelman and Ammendola. Yet apparently thats "winning" free agency, even though you don't get a 1st round pick.

So Patriots go out and get another teams #1 CB to pair with their #1 CB

I'm honestly tired of dispelling this narrative but, per PFF, Brady had the 2nd highest passer rating in the league on passes travelling 20+ yards through the air and was the best QB in the league throwing on the go routes

Pic related - Tom Brady's passer rating by area from last season. His 4 most dangerous areas were mid range right, mid range middle, deep right and deep middle

they've made moves, but if you understand situationally the changes. They aren't really that great.

Bennett was better for their system than a wide out.
Because tight ends block and also make for a hard cover assignment for most corners.

Wide outs are great if you're Brees, Ryan, Rapingberger, Stafford etc, guys that can really rip it. But the Patriots don't have that style of game haven't for years.

They are getting new players, but they are also losing players (and draft picks) so im not convinced its so totally awesome just yet, but the Patriots have the biggest mouthpiece right now.

No he didn't, he's more in the 12-18 range.

Ints are an irrelevant stat most of the time due to the volatility and different roles a corner can have.

If he's making a lot of tackles it means hes giving up a lot of catches.

hes really not a special player, just made it out to be one because of one play.

He's still under the Patriots' control for at least 2 years if they want him, they have the RFA tender and the franchise tag. His market would probably be around 11 AAV. The main problem is that Butler is not that tall (a little under 5'10) which limits his value as a true #1 since he's not big enough to hang with someone like Julio Jones. Bill likes tall corners with elite quickness and has generally moved aggressively to acquire them when possible - see Talib, GIlmore, Rowe.

I don't give a shit what PFF says, people only use that shit when it's convenient for their own argument. Not to mention the games he graded out the best on had really shit qb play.

Per profootballreference

Brady attempted 6.25 passes per game that travelled 15+ yards through the air. Brees attempted 6.625 such passes per game.

Brady's stats on those passes - 9 TDs, 1 INT, 15.7 ypa, 129 passer rating

Brees' - 7 TDs, 9 INTs, 15.8 ypa, 83 passer rating

"What Terence Newman is doing in 2016 is unprecedented in the PFF era (since the 2006 season), and doesn’t seem like it should be possible. Newman is 38 years old, and is having maybe the best season of his career. Darrelle Revis is seven years younger, and Father Time is taking a severe toll on the Jets CB. Newman has allowed just 8.6 yards per reception, one touchdown, and—the most ridiculous number of all—just 23 yards after the catch all year. He has rarely been beaten in 2016, but even when he is, the receiver isn’t going much further with the ball"

Did he steal bradys youth magic?

Patfag delusion.

He's a zone style as opposed to revis being man style. Zone style CBs always age better because their game is based more on awareness/play recognition than pure athlecism. Charles woodson was the same.

Stafford has a stronger arm than any of them except maybe Rodgers.
He throws a nice ball.

I left Flacco and Rivers out though because they have become a meme.
>>
>>74692405
Nah, other than randy moss, who was old as shit, the pats have never had a received this fast. They'll use him like edelman some, but he'll get so many deep looks. Brady has a deep ball, and made do with Chris Hogan as his deep threat last year. Now that he has a guy like cooks things will get very very interesting. The oline will be key, so I'd say that if bill doesnt pay hightower, that money is going straight to the oline

its obvious all these foreigners just go with who is good.
And Americans are just as bad about it, only its a bit harder to detect.

Notice how all of the Seahawk "fans" have vanished and now the Patriots have a ton of new and very vocal "fans"
spoiler: Its the same people.

The only foreigner worth paying attention to is that Swedish Atlanta fan and thats only because he actually does shitpost for them no matter if they are good or not.
>>
>>74692701
not to mention with Cooks blowing the roof off of coverages, it let's Gronk feed on 1 on 1 match-ups with LBs.

Have you been living under the rock for the past 2 hours?

Besides, the line is fine as it is and all the good O-line FAs made a fortune. It was the only FA market that really went crazy
>>
>>74692701
He's also great in space. Wr/bubble screen option plays. Jets sweeps etc. This could be a wide open shotgun spread offense especially with the RBs they have.

What does Trump have to do with /tv/? Unless he's back to hosting The Apprentice, it's not related to the board.

There has been a huge increase in activity on /pol/ since the lead up to the election. Mods are doing a terrible job of keeping these idiots off of other boards.

Also, Trump shitposting does not create good conversation or OC. It's mostly just impotent, frustrated basement dwellers gloating that they were right that a celebrity moron managed to win a presidential election between the two worst candidates of all time. Despite the fact that Trump has done nothing but fuck up since he got into office, he "won" and when you're as much of a failure as your average /pol/ poster, you need to take your victories where you can get them.
>>
>>74689547
And he still sucked. He had like 1/3 of his average yardage.
The Broncos had a bottom 5 running game,of course Siemian wouldn't hold the pressure against Belicheck.

back when there were only 3 channels, they were one of the 3 teams to have a national TV contract, and kids want to be like their parents generally so they'll root for the same sports teams

I'd put Aikman in the 21-25 range. I'm absolutely certain I can think of 20 QBs who were/are better than him.

In no order:
>Brady
>Rodgers
>Montana
>Tarkenton
>Young
>Favre
>Staubach
>Peyton
>Rivers
>Roethlisberger
>Bledsoe
>Elway
>Marino
>Unitas
>Bradshaw
>Brees
>Moon
>Kelly
>Fouts
>Cunningham

Any disagreements?
