If we don't keep hightower, the chance of this seriously decreases. The question at hand isn't whether or not we can, it's whether or not Bill is willing to go all in on Brady's last years for another shot at 19-0 or continue to be a frugal grabbler as he has always been.

>Best QB on go routes (min. 10 targeted attempts): Tom Brady, New England Patriots

>“It is no coincidence that Chris Hogan was the most successful receiver on go routes when you look at how effective Tom Brady was throwing the route. Brady was PFF’s highest-graded QB on go routes, completing 20 of 48 passes for 660 yards, 6 touchdowns, and a QB rating of 119.8. Brady was second in QB rating, third in touchdowns, third in completions, and second in yards on the go route. Brady was eighth in completion percentage at 41 percent, but was fifth in adjusted completion percentage at 48 percent due to his receivers dropping three passes. He had great success on the go route versus the Cover 3, as 7 of his 13 passes resulted in either first downs or touchdowns, and one of his incompletions was on a miscommunication.”

Cook is a bigger, potentially-stronger version of Jonathan Stewart. His size will likely make him less prone to injury, which is what the Panthers need for their offense, a versatile back that can get to the outside but also ground n pound

Cruz would've been a nice addition, but there's a lot of room for improvement with youngins like Benjamin and Funchess; still have Olsen a for a little for the time being, too

i mean the biggest thing is that people expect these guys to perfectly adjust out of college, and rate them based on that. guys like kizer and mahomes or whatever could obviously become very good QBs based on their situation, i.e. sitting behind palmer for arians or something.

but when a guy like trubisky who has 13 college starts is the top guy, it just means that there's a dearth of talent at the top. i think this class has good depth, but there's no guys like winston or luck or cam, which to most people means it sucks.
>>
>>74664700
will anon fall for every fake tweet?
>>
>>74664826

A big part of the problem is only Luck should have been a #1 overall.

QB hungry teams reached for them like with Goff, and drafting poorly doesn't make the draft class better. But people act like it does for QB's.
>>
>>74664826
Johnny's biggest problem is he was from a super rich oil family and his parents never told him "no"
>>
>>74664870
you don't think cam should have gone 1st overall? i remember watching him at auburn and just thinking what a monster he was

and yeah i completely agree. last year's class was no better than this year's probably worse because the depth was such garbage. but since QBs went 1 and 2 people will retrospectively act as if it was better. whereas the 2014 class was supposedly not very good but it could end up having two above-average starters who weren't even taken in the first.

>Luck could have avoided the Indy Dumpster Fire and won an Owl already

FUCK NO. As a Panthers fan, we should have picked Von Miller or Patrick Peterson or Julio Jones. Period. Fuck that stupid cunt Cameron.

We could have had Russell Wilson (who played at NC State) the next year. Fucking faggots had to go pick the stupid blue gum Auburn QB
>>
>>74664938

Fuck no Cam was not the best player in that draft, he was a good player but not the #1 overall. The Panthers just needed a QB.

There was
Miller
Watt
Julio (Probably a better prospect they're close)
Wilkerson
Houston

All should have gone before him. But he's a QB and they came from stacked positions so were overlooked on top of that.

Plus there's more that you could argue were better picks.

panthers wouldn't have had any of the success they've had without a cam-tier QB though, and there haven't been that many in the seasons since. it's nice to pretend that hindsight is anything other than revisionist history, but come the fuck on, no one in the world would have taken wilkerson or houston over cam.

Better players will always get passed in the hopes of a winning QB.

>>74665070
to say cam was a reach is a 100% hindsight when most people had him #1 on their draft boards

and to pretend the panthers would have won more games with julio or justin houston is 100% bullshit
>>
>>74665070
wilkerson and houston were not "better players", you're being absolutely ridiculous. they were late first round talents who have flourished in the NFL. cam was one of the best players in all of college football, has an MVP and several playoff berths, and has had more success by any metric than either of them.

you should have stopped at miller/watt/julio lel.
>>74665107
that would be huge for the ravens if he did come back. he's unironically still one of the better possession WRs in the league
>>
>>74663912
>Never win a ring with Romo*

Fixed that for you.
>>
>>74665070
To be fair, the QB is sort of the center of a team.

Like imagine if Huston for example did not have a Watt(you get to keep Clowney) , but had a QB that was elite at his position like Watt is, where could the Texans be?

That feels like a weird comparison, but I think you get it.
>>
>>74665024

Derek Anderson balled for the Browns. I think he should start right now. Fuck Cam.
>>
>>74665142

I get it, but that doesn't make the QB the best player in the draft, it makes the highest priority.

>>74665129
I disagree, a late first like wilkerson flourishing is bad drafting/scouting

Good college qbs=/= good nfl qbs

>>74665122
This requires too much hindsight to figure out, they could have had a better QB in a later draft. They could not have, who knows.
>>
>>74665177
that's a pretty dumb opinion, but i guess it's just the standard overreaction from a fan. without cam you wouldn't be relevant at all since 2003 lmao.
>>74665196
obviously, but cam has been both a good NFL QB and a good college QB.

drafting wilkerson or even watt would have also been silly because they had charles johnson and greg hardy. you could make a case for julio or von, but neither of them were as highly regarded as cam, and steve smith had great years with cam anyway. really just seems like people are using hindsight to try and discredit one of the best panthers draft picks of all time.
>>
>>74665177
i agree. just look at this win he earned for the browns

>>
>>74665129
Na I don't see it. Fucking trading a guy who was one of the best players on your team for 3 years and pretty much won you a Superbowl for a 6th round pick creates a lot of bad blood. Besides he would count against our comp pick formula and we already signed Woodhead and Jefferson who weren't cut I don't know if we go for a 3rd but if we do it'd be Morris Claiborne

Guys I think we have a better chance to pick up are Nick Mangold (long shot) or more likely King Dunlap. Eric Weddle tweeted pic related just after he was released and the Ravens just cleared 3.2 Mil cap space by rescinding RFA tenders to two guys

can't believe mangold still hasn't signed anywhere, dude is still one of the top centers in the league. dunlap could be cool though, wouldn't cost much either.
>>
>>74665287
>Could definitely see him coming in at RT for us

Don't know why you'd want him.

Funny, though, how Weddle took a lesser contract with the Ravens than what he was asking for with the Chorgers.
>>
>>74665247

I'm not saying it was a bad pick, I just dont think he was the best player in the draft.

He wasn't a bad pick, he was what they needed, it doesn't make him the best though.

He is a good player, he is not a great player. And tons of people said
>lel black qb enjoy sub 60% completion rates.
Which has held true. He brings more than that but he wasnt perfect or the best.

>>
>>74665196
but the thing is certain positions have more inherit value

a fullback might be the best fullback in his class by far but it'd still be idiotic to take him in the first

cam might not be elite but he is a franchise quarterback so I don't really think he was a reach because to a lot of teams they'd rather have a B QB than an A Cornerback just like you'd rather have a B cornerback over an A fullback.
>>
>>74662061
I'm happy if the panthers make it to the playoffs
>>
>>74665297
Mangold is likely just taking his time with visits and seeing where other players go before making his decision

Only thing that sucks is that I haven't heard any news of teams he has visited with or who's interested. Heard Cardinals had heavy interest but that was two weeks ago. Haven't heard anything since

>>74665301
Because he's only 31 and has been a very good pass blocker at times in his career. He reminds me a lot of Bryant Mckinnie
>>
>>74665318

I dont disagree with the pick.

Most QB's are overrated because of the position and are not the best players picked. They will always get overrated, but a team reaching for one doesn't make the QB better.

Its not that teams should stop this, but a team spending a #1 on the 12th best player doesn't make the 12th best player the best player.

The whole argument started over people thinking a QB class is good because a bunch of teams reach for QBs. Which they do. It might be a good idea but teams not reaching for QB's doesn't make QB's bad either.

i could see the titans taking davis, they lost out on the WRs on the market. not sure about robinson to the bucs, but it's not impossible.

I don't think there's going to be the same massive reach for qb's in 2017 there was in 2016.

Goff's and Wentz draft stock were much higher at this point and Paxton Lynch actually fell farther than some people thought he would earlier in the year.

I mean we saw in 2013 no qbs go in the top 15 and the one qb to go in the first round(ej manuel) was a huge surprise.

The 2011 Wisconsin Badgers college football team was particularly stacked. On offense, transfer quarterback Russell Wilson had his pick of weapons -- running backs Montee Ball, James White AND freshman Melvin Gordon, wide receivers Jared Abbrederis and Nick Toon, and tight end Jacob Pederson gave him plenty of options. But don't forget about that offensive line. Current NFL teams certainly aren't.

The Badgers trotted out this lineup on day one in 2011:

LT: Ricky Wagner
LG: Travis Frederick
C: Peter Konz
RG: Kevin Zeitler
RT: Josh Oglesby

Three contracts signed this year mean three of the five starters on the 2011 Wisconsin Badgers offensive line are now making more than $30 million per year combined.

Add in the two backups -- Ryan Groy and Rob Havenstein, who make a combined $2.7 million per year on average -- and the 2011 Wisconsin offensive line is currently worth about $33.1 million per year on the NFL market.

Why didn't the Texans just purchase the Oilers name from Tennessee and recreate the old team? I mean I can't think of a dumber name than "Texans". Imagine a team called the Miami Floridians or Cleveland Ohioans or Los Angeles Californians.
>>
>>74665902
They probably picked that name to look like they were the definitive Texas team. The name is even dumber if they actually thought they were going to achieve something close to that.

Apollos, Bobcats, Stallions, Texans, and Wildcatters.

Apollo doesn't sound bad, but doesn't really sound like an NFL team. I don't know, the city has more to offer than the whole Space thing, and even a simpler name like Houston's Aerials would have been better than Texans.

Cowboys, Pats and Texans are the worst because they don't know fuck all about NFL outside of their own division. Eagles are 4 because of the perennial delusion when anything good happens they act like their team is some big heavyweight owl contender all of a sudden. Lions are 5 because of the same reason just slightly more subdued

Seahawks fans aren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be at least not in the /nfl/ general which is what the ranking was

Moss's diva tendencies were exaggerated by the media, he was never that bad but constantly had to deal with shit coaches like Mike Tice so he got an undeserved reputation. And even Bill got fed up with Moss when he went to the media complaining that he felt unappreciated so I dunno how much he "fell in line."

Pretty sure most of us (I did at least) knew we weren't making the playoffs after losing to the Jets. We had hope again after destroying Miami but I was saying for two weeks after we lost to the Patriots that even if we won against the Steelers in week 16 we'd lose to the Bengals in week 17 and miss the playoffs. Belichick operates the same way, he has no problem getting rid even of Randy fucking Moss or other elite players if they're not in line with him. I bet he would even trady Brady himself to the Browns if he started mouthing off.
