I doubt Iggy is mad because he was taking on the forward responsibilities, he seems more concerned with how well guys communicate on both sides and probably has a lot of shit to bring up with Kerr, Brown, and Adams. They are the pecking order he has to fight with, not Klay or KD.

What Iggy really wants to say is what dray already does say (accidentally sometimes), that energy and effort without playing as a capital T Team is a huge waste. Add that managing to convince not-so-good players to play better is difficult.

I'm going by feel with my own interactions with Kerr on this take, but what we've been seeing behind the teamwide 3P% slump all year and the good but not superb health are his own growing pains as a coach. You can't always just rub magic out of people, even though it seemed like he was for his first two years. As he would easily admit, he came into an absurdly talented team and just helped them actually put their developed talent onto the ground.

Those comparisons will have to wait a while. Who, of the players that Kerr has coached, could unequivocally be defined as 'his guys'? I know Ron Adams is his guy, I knew Luke was his guy, there's probably plenty of other front office people who could fit the label. But there are no stats or direct evidence of what they all accomplish, just what the players (almost all of whom are adopted) can do.

There's always going to be a connection in his and his players heads after game 7 last year, a blemish of distrust. I have no clue what it would take to smooth that out, maybe even winning this year doesn't completely fix it.

IMO, the definition of a successful leader is in how well they can put the people below them in position to succeed. The people under command are the only ones who can really say whether their leader is successful or not. It takes mutual trust to get there, not merely win totals and championships.
