browns are incapable of anything more than tic tac toe

And judging from their results lately they still haven't caught on the trick to never lose at tic tac toe

You're better than that.

It takes more than looking at stats. Players need to fit. I don't think their moneyball scheme will get them past average. It will improve a shit franchise, but to become elite, it's going to take more than a spreadsheet.
Baseball is different -- players all have their individual turns, and there are 9 positions.
The fudge packers won't break .500 this season

It's not just a stat approach. Hue has stated time and time again (Williams and Sashi as well) that they're looking at character and personality, how they fit in with Hue and Williams' plans, etc. They're not just going by numbers. If anything, the initial phase is the only one that is "stat based", those stats being age and talent level. Look at the signings so far. They've focused on a point of dire need (O-line) by signing known young controllable players (Zeitler, Tretter). Kenny Britt had most scratching their heads (even fans), but what they've seen on tape is someone they like as a potential complement to Coleman (who will probably assume the #1 role). They obviously knew they'd have to offer the most money (which merits the moves they made to free up so much space). They've made a "traditional" smart move in resigning Collins and Bitonio, the latter of which would probably have walked after next year. Losing Pryor hurts to a degree, but he had one good year as a developmental WR. Time will tell if he actually ends up as a top WR, be careful of viewing "flash in the pan" types as sure things. They lost out on others as well because they wanted to win right away. It's a blend of analytics and a traditional approach. I don't think they'll be an elite 5 or 6 ring winning franchise, but they'll get at least one. They're already exceeding expectations (as low as they were). Bringing back some key players, signing top FAs, and gathering picks to have a better shot at talent in the draft. Bill Polian even alluded to it in his rant that 40% of 1st round picks fail, 45% in the 2nd, and so on and so forth. Why not add as many picks as possible to maximize chances to get some guys that will possibly be high caliber in a year or two? Just the idea of "we have 7 total
Picks and will hit on one or two is good" doesn't work for a franchise in such dire straits. They have no choice but to try and increase chances. That works for any team.
