Can someone give me a quick rundown on Malcolm Smith? Was his owl MVP just a fluke?
>>
>>74620269
It's a bit both, most injuries that he sustains are a result of taking too many (mostly low) hits. But his back is fragile and it's been a concern for years, the only reason why the Pats got him early in the 2nd round was health concerns
>>

Yes. He's been bad ever since. And the MVP wasn't even deserved, it should've gone to Chancellor or Avril.
>>
>>74620319
this pretty much

Gronk isn't made of glass, defenders dive at his knees all the time. Ward did itnto him and that broncos player did in 2015.

His back injury this year wasn't related to his previous surgery, and his forearm broke twice because Belichick forced him to play with an unhealed arm.

For a guy that gets hit by trucks hes pretty fucking durable.

I'll always remember the look on Bill Bilichick's face when Ward went over to shake his hand and apologize for taking out Gronk's knee.
>>
>>74620317
Basically, seatle's D mouthfucked the Broncos so hard, even the NFL had to admit that giving it to an offensive player would be retarded. But nobody on the defense had more than one really memorable play, so they just gave it to the guy whose big play was the biggest. As for him actually making the play, he was at the right place in the right time and made a good play. That's about it.

It's 10 million over 3 years, 4 million in the first year, and the fact that nobody is reporting anything about guaranteed money means it's almost certainly the case that he can be cut after 1 year with no lingering cost if the Cowboys choose to do so.

You probably don't know the first thing about the Cowboys cap situation. Nearly all of the money that is tied up right now for them has been allocated to good contracts.

Romo's contract is the only major exception, but of course it's not like the Cowboys could have ever foreseen Dak falling in to their laps. Other than that though, Dez and Tyrone Crawford are a bit overpaid, but still productive, and the Cowboys have some team friendly O-line contracts to balance it out.

Cowboys have very little cap space primarily because they have a bunch of good players.

>>74621092
There is a big difference between getting a clean up sack or running unblocked or fighting through a TE/tackle double team. Also consistently generating pressure is a better metric than sacks, even the best rushers rarely get 1 sack a game, so by using sacks you're literally judging someone's ability based on less than 1 play a game.

Fucking retard.

No, I'm saying that assuming a guy who averages 10 sacks a year is better than guys with more production is ridiculous. Saying that they're using him incorrectly only makes sense if he has been "used correctly" before, and produced more than anyone else in those times.
>>74621144
I never said Mack wasn't a top pass rusher, I said he clearly isn't the best. But let's roll with the analogy. Antonio Brown ranks more highly than in yards and TD's than Mack does in sacks. So was Brown the best receiver in the league last year, even though he have as much production as other receivers?
Here's the issue, though. Saying Mack is the best pass rusher in the league despite never leading the league in sacks is really stupid. Unless you're going to argue that sacks are totally irrelevant. If that's what you're saying, you should have some type of evidence for why he's the best. And no, saying he deserves more sacks or that he'd have more production if you were his coach don't count.

Well then bring up some actual evidence. Stop just spouting whimsical bullshit and actually point me to some evidence for Mack being the best.
Are you saying that the 7 people above Mack just got lucky? Are you saying they didn't pressure QBs consistently? If so, how did they get the sacks? Are they Jedi? Did they fucking shoot the QB's with a glock? Or did it just so happen that 7 people did better than, and 4 did just as well as, the "best pass rusher in the league", just because a bunch if sacks just happened to land in their laps? Why didn't Mack have any sacks land in his lap? Is he cursed?

I meant that literally any person on earth can be hit by an NFL player. You or I could. We could do it all fucking day. But if every time we did, we broke 3 bones, we wouldn't qualify as a "durable player". What matters in "durability" is how little the hits affect you. They affect Gronk more than most tight ends. Therefore, he's not durable.

>>
>>74621609
So that's your proof then? The fact that Khalil Mack played DE in college makes him the best pass rusher in the NFL? If not, I'm still waiting for you to bring up actual arguments for him being the best. So far, all you've done is brought up some fanciful hypotheticals. Of what he'd be doing if you were his coach, and said "ur bad at debate". So please, explain to me why someone with 10 sacks per year, who never lead the league in sacks, and who tied for 8th in sacks this year is better than all of the people that are producing more than him. Again, "luck" doesn't really account for 7 players doing better than you.

Now you're blatantly lying. PFF ranked him as #9, and said he only deserved to be that high because of his 2015 year. "n; in 2016, he has 26 total pressures—nine fewer than Miller—despite 46 more pass-rushing snaps."
https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-the-nfls-top-25-pass-rushers/
Nice try though.
>>
>>74621729
No he played 3-4 olb. That's his natural position. This isn't MUT you don't get better attributes for playing out of position. At least a third of any NFL players success or failure can be attributed to whether or not he's in the correct scheme. A lot of people are too dumb to realize this and it's why bill Belichick ass rapes them with a cast of nobody's and a smart pocket passing qb every fucking year.

Dalton was missing Eifert, Green and every weapon he had at some point in the season.

For whatever reason their top 5 oline couldn't block anyone last year, Dalton was raped by the jets defense for 7 or 8 sacks and led a game winning drive.

His stats may not show it but he carried them lastyear, their redzone offense was non-existent until Eifert returned but by then it was too late to win the division.

Cowboys have no leverage for a trade. Plus it isn't worth it if Romo's body can't physically hold up, which is very possible.

exactly. the bears offense was literally "hand it off to jordan howard" or "chuck it up to alshon". he still got 821 yards in his 12 games, which would extrapolate to over 1k on the season.

i'm not even saying he's a lock for the top 10, as i mentioned with keenan allen. only that he deserves to be considered for the top 10, and that i think he can be there in a more stable offensive environment.

Injuries are a cumulative thing, take too many of them and the wear and tear eventually takes a toll and you can't be as effective anymore

It varies. There isn't a magical number of years after which WRs will start being crap. Jerry Rice played for 20 seasons didn't he? I know that Thomas still pulls 1000+ yard seasons with Bork, Semen and noodle arm Peyton throwing to him.

>Cowboys have no leverage for a trade

But that's factually wrong. They have leverage on the Texans since they traded Brock and don't have a QB. They want Romo and everyone knows it, so Cowboys are keeping Romo until a trade is made even if it takes keeping him up to the preseason.

Schefter's earlier report the Cowboys were realising him was quickly denied by every other source since the Brock trade and it completely changed the dynamics.

Cowboys will not release Romo since it's already past the deadline to release him and not have to pay his trade kicker, freeing up 5 million in cap.

If they released him now there would be no point since they wouldn't get any free space.

don't see hooker going that high, tits will probably get lattimore and jets will go BPA.
even with keenan allen being who he is, i don't think chargers go williams.
quincy wilson seems a little high at #9, especially since the bengals retained kirkpatrick.
colts really shouldn't take cook with all of their other holes, and ravens already have mike wallace to stretch the field. maybe williams goes here
redskins need defense, badly. little early for robinson too
humphrey is a piece for an already good defense to work with. lions would be better off with mcdowell or cunningham.
raiders need to improve pass defense, i think a corner goes here. i also think someone falls in love with peppers and takes him earlier.
lamp probably won't fall here; robinson might. jarrad davis seems like a reach.

>>
>>74623895
Not really, but they certainly need someone to replace Osemele, and the rest of the C/G on the team are trash. I don't think Lamp is worth a mid first round pick, but he's the only safe choice at the position and he won't be waiting for their next pick.

>>74623928
Perriman was 26 overall, low first round pick. Current WR situation isn't as bad as 2013, and they went 8-8 that season, not to mention they still have skilled TEs. They need to address the running game and pocket protection, and it all starts with the online.

http://dal.247sports.com/Bolt/Report-Cowboys-to-release-Tony-Romo-barring-major-upset-51724655
>The Cowboys would save $5.1 million against the cap -- and absorb $19.6 million in dead money charges -- by releasing Romo, who's entering the fifth of the seven-year, $119.5 million extension he signed with the Cowboys in 2013.

You are wrong.
>>
>>74623980
Zero.

As soon as some team needs a QB due to injury and want to pull something like the Vikings did for Bradford they're trading Romo.
Or the Texans can't land a better QB than Romo before preseason, preferably before training camp. Savage isn't good enough to lead them to a Super Bowl.
>>
>>74623893
I know. I actually didn't mean to tag your post, but my point is I really don't see him coming back how 18 did. It just hasn't been his m.o. to be a healthy QB the last 5 years whereas Peyton was healthy his entire career got injured bad once then came back to have 1 ½ seasons of great ball. Romo has already pulled that trick after the nanners broke his ribs/punctured his lung and he came back for the run where he rode his RB like a beaten mule.
