I would be surprised of even one of those things happened.

We love to mock the Browns for being an incompetent franchise, but this gm seems to know what he's doing for the most part. I highly doubt he'll be giving up the 1st pick of this year's draft for a Pats system babby qb. Maybe the 12th + a 4th rounder.

And there's no way Belicheck would trade a proven, home-grown cb for a pick that they would use to draft a 50/50 bust at cb. Doesn't make any sense.

>so your original claim was dumb and you're even dumber still for trying to argue that a man who was the greatest player of all time when he was alive and playing would not fare well 100 years later

The point is that if he were the same player as he was when he originally played he wouldn't make an MLB roster.

Now if he was born in 1985 and became a player in modern times he would be pretty damn close to a complete unknown consider how different the game is today. Maybe he's still a Hall of Famer and maybe he's complete shit.

If Patriots keep Butler and resign Hightower it would take MULTIPLE major injuries for them to not be a lock for the superbowl

If I was the rest of the NFL I would just let the Patriots win this one. Chances are Brady retires it because it would align so perfectly.

>retire right as his replacements contract comes up
>end your career the same way you started it (winning 3 owns in 4 years)
>would have the most superbowl wins of any PLAYER and tied for most of any franchise

The rest of the NFL should just give up this season, for their own sake.

Packers beat both of those teams in the playoffs with half their roster injured. Fuck outta here.
>>
>>74615843
We resigned Branch for our DT who was pretty much our defensive MVP last season so we don't need to.

Unless we wanted to play a 4-3 with 2 nose tackles for some reason, but we don't have enough secondary depth to commit that hard to the run at the line.
>>
>>74615855
Then what did they do
>>
>>74615850
I see the iggles are going to field a very Panthers like defence in 2017 with a pile of shit and a bunch of rookies at CB

Well done Howie, well done indeed
>>
>>74615859
Hightower was our defensive MVP
I'd argue that we have elite depth at secondary, probably the deepest in the league
Butler, Gilmore, Rowe, Jones, Harmon etc.

I don't give a fuck about Poe, but a sleeper FA signing that would be clutch as fuck would be Eddie Lacy or Latavious Murray
>>
>>74615867
You only mentioned the Giants and the Cowboys. I don't see the Falcons having a repeat of the season they just had.
>>
>>74615875
Eagles haven't had good corners in forever, the important thing is that even if it takes 3 years to of drafting to fix we already have Cox, Graham, Hicks and 2 great safeties pretty much locked up

What the fuck are you on about mate? Not only is Rodgers a top 3qb (probably 2 if Ryan didn't have Julio) but now he has Bennett. As long as they don't lose Half their team again they'll make it to the NFC Championship
>>
I've been reading the Saints forums today and I've never seen those guy this buttblasted ever, not even during Bountygate.
>>
>>74615960
They have to realise they are always going to have a top tier offence with Brees but as long as the defence is fuck awful they will keep getting into games like 51-48 @ Giants, 48-42 @ Cards, 41-38 vs Panthers

Cooks was a great player for them but he's still a small target who they only had locked up for two more years. When you compare that to a 1st rounder in a deep defensive draft + a slight trade up from a 4th rounder to late 3rd round pick the deal makes a lot of sense

I think most of them were actually willing to accept parting with Cooks as long as they also got Butler, but they just got a glorified 2nd round pick and a swap of 3rd rounders if I'm not mistaken.

1st rounder is still a 1st rounder and there are a 5 or 6 really good CBs in this draft so 1 will definitely fall to 32

I think they could still get Butler but they didn't trade 3rd rounders the Saints gave their mid 4th round pick for the Patriots 32nd pick in the 3rd

So basically trading up 15 places which really means very little. The Saints have sucked at drafting for quite some time too on top of that.

>>
>>74616127
I don't even understand how teams can possibly gameplan for the Pats next year, Gronk pretty much requires a double team of a LB and safety on most downs, Cooks and Hogan will feast on the outside in single coverage, Edelman will carve teams from the slot with 15 yards and White is a mismatch for most LBs

Couple that with Brady's presnap reads and savant-level knowledge of defenses and it's actually scary what the Pats will look like if they get a competent 3 down RB
>>

Saints are my 2nd favorite team so I'm always gonna have a slight bias towards them but I think this is the year they jump back into the playoffs. I have to wait to see who exactly they take in the draft but I think it'll be pretty hard to miss with where they pick this year

Even before the Byrd contract, there was a lot of players people already forgot about. Charles Grant had one good season and got paid as a top DE and never produced again, they had to carry him on the roster forever even though he did nothing. Jason David ended up being the statistically worst corner in the NFL probably ever. They signed Alex Brown for a hefty contract in 2010, he was so shit they had to cut him after a single year. The same with Aubrayo Franklin in 2011, Curtis Lofton, David Hawthorne and Brodrick Bunkley in 2012, Byrd in 2014, and the Browner sign was an unmitigated catastrophe.

Weirdly enough their best defensive pickups happened in 2009 when they went full Patriots, signed a bunch of literal whos for nothing and they all ended up contributing significantly.

anything that requires deep passing edelman is a flanker, anything short or to the middle edelman is in the slot

Blount was good for fantasy owners that's it. Unless you love to watch 3 yard touchdowns and loss of yards every other snap. I love his loyalty but god were most of his runs bad. All for that one explosive play a game. Got even worse when Gronk was hurt. The stats don't show the fact he had his worst season since 2012 when he was still a Buccaneer. You give a back the ball that many times and of course his stats will look great.

i'd say go for a RB but Charles and Peterson are in their 30's and coming off of injuries (not to mention Peterson's fumbling problems).

Blount wasn't the starter in 2012 so comparing the two is dumb. If you wanted to compare and contrast you should look at his 2013 season vs his 2016 season where he averaged 5 yards per rush vs only 3.9 in 2016. Even then the stats are lower because he used almost twice as much. Basically you paid Blount to be a big guy who pushes through players and that's what you got. Lo and behold that doesn't always work and doing it more and more exposes more times of it not working. Also why would Brady throw it when you can just give it to Blount for a goaline TD? an entire owl was won because of QB ignorance like that.
>>
>>74616844
>afterwards he averaged under 2 yards per carry and led the league in negative yards.

Not either guy you're arguing with, and I think the Steelers cut him for many of the points you're citing, along with being an asshat.

Still, wasn't the point of getting him exactly for the capability to do what you say is the only thing he could do? It opens things up on the goal line when you have a legitimate power runner. The foreskins wish they had that. It's a big deal.

Btw his only "big game" with Brady was against the 49ers, but I imagine you didn't know they gave up 180+ per game on the ground. Yet another reason his statpadding means jackshit when he does nothing in important playoff games.

Like against the ravens, seahawks, texans, falcons, broncos, on and fucking on.

>>74617022
>It opens things up on the goal line when you have a legitimate power runner

I'm not complaining about his real production, but the prior seasons blount wasn't doing that the offense scored fine.

People don't understand Belichick plays at weakness, not from strength. Brady could've thrown those 18TDs and blount wouldn't have a ""''great""" season was my point.
>>
>>74617006
>He had the best year for a HB the patriots have had since Corey Dillion.
Wrong.

Stevan Ridley had 1200+ yards and 12 TDs in 2012. BenJarvus Green-Ellis had 1100 yards and 13 TDs. Both did it at 4.5 yards per carry.

Blount is an average back who's only exceptional at the goal line. All the praise he got this season was a result of a much improved O-line, Develin coming back and more run focused play calling.

Plus, he's a consistent playoff non show. He averages something like 2.5 yards a carry in the playoffs outside of those 2 Colts games.
>>
>>74617089
Ellis was the same as blount honestly, neither could run the ball.

One difference being Ellis never fumbled, then Ridley came along and fumbled until he was gone.

Reminder that Alshon Jeffrey turned down deals with more salary per year, more guaranteed money, and more years with the Vikings, Bears, and Colts
Reminder that the eagles wide receivers had the most drops last season
Reminder that Alshon Jeffrey dropped 1 ball on 92 targets last year

DeSean Jackson is fast, Jeremy Maclin is solid, but Alshon Jeffery is a stud. He’s actually eerily similar to T.O.

Jeffery: 6-3, 218 pounds, 4.5 ish speed, averaging 15.0 yards per catch for his career, and has two 1,000 yard seasons in his first five.

Owens: 6-3, 224 pounds, 4.5 ish speed, averaging 14.8 yards per catch for his career, and has two 1,000 yard seasons in his first five.

I'm not saying this team is the super bowl contending team of the 2000s, however, Wentz now has a stud wide receiver to throw to that wants to stay here long term. He's possibly the best wide receiver we have had since Terrell Owens
His 1 year deal has tons of bells and whistles that make the money disappear if he doesn't measure up, or If he is caught snorting more Adderall and gets hit with a 10 game suspension

Buckle up cowshits, enjoy Nolan Carrol as your starting corner. Lmao

Raiders fans, and it's not even close. Go to a home game of your team vs the Raiders and you'll see. They spend the whole game shouting RAAAAAAIDEEEEEEEEERS like total autists, and nothing else. You can ask them about their team, and they will not know a fucking thing. To them, the Raiders starter is the best of that position in the league, no exceptions (even if they don't know who that is).
I went to one such game last year, and their DT went down with an injury while Oakland was playing defense. While they were looking at him, the retard two rows down asked his friend who was injured. His response: "That's Ronald Penn, losing him would fucking suck!"

Cowboys secondary is legit bad and only did as well as they did because they didn't need to be out there due to the TOP dominance by their offense.

Cowboys need to build through the draft and doing through FA or resigning old players on bad contracts now would be a mistake with a young core as their foundation.

Cowboys are basically putting all their money in the O-line and offense banking on a strong running game to keep the defense off the field as much as possible.

You can only pick a limited amount of positions to pay elite money too, and they chose the O-line, so they are content with the fact that their defense is simply going to have to be filled via the draft and cheap free agents.

That last statement is to counter the fact that people will rag on and cite previous eagles big name big money signings that didn't work out
We're confident that Jeffrey will do well and we also have the security if he doesn't
Most agents and players would never agree to such a terrible deal on the players side

You think that's bad? Look at Cook.

Packers were offering him more than that and he refused because he thought he was worth more, now they have Bennett.

>living in the past

Witten was slow as shit in his prime and wasn't a physical freak. This isn't even an argument Gronkowski is better.

>Jags already have some talent here and there, not to mention Coughlin willl bring back some experience to the FO
>Texans and Titans are few pieces away from becoming complete teams
I don't think the Colts are even on their minds

i don't think he's made of glass. he's just such an athletic freak that defenders have to take a different approach with him. not saying he's cheap-shotted all the time, but he absorbs more hits per touch imo.

although he gets injured a lot

Keep getting madder broncbitch.

Yes, and Oakland has one playoff berth featuring a first round ass whooping at the hands of a mediocre team to show for their last 16 years of existence. My team has literally had more success since I've been watching than yours has in their 50+ years of existence. Also thanks for admitting I was right about literally every accusation I made. Enjoy getting put back in your place this year!
Viva Las Vegas!

gut feeling. he did well with the queefs, and so far he's actually addressing needs. maybe i'm just used to the grigson doctrine of "lol let's get more receivers", so this seems like competence.

Wew, I don't know how you're dumb enough to think I'm mad. I'm actually really amused that you're clinging to a wildcard berth while I'm just comfy as fuck in my super bowl champs hat.
>>
>>74620257
Huh? The premise was you get each at the start of his career which do you take for your team. I realize gronk is the better athlete. I'm taking Witten because he fits how I would build my TEAM.

>Dallas was 11th in yards given up per pass attempt. And that's with a non existent pass rush.

That has to do with Rod Marinelli's scheme more than anything else. They largely played a prevent bend but don't break defense, so they gave up few yards per pass, but a bunch of yards overall and a ton of 1st downs.

It will suck if we manage to lose both Carr and Claiborne but Church and Wilcox are totally replaceable. I think the Cowboys will at least sign one of the two, and attempt to fill the 3rd CB spot and safeties in the draft.

east coast raiders fan,
oakland is shit (i would know i live in philly) and that stadium is the worst.
vegas sounds fucking sweet tho.

If Eli beats Brady in the next back to back Super Bowls... would that make him the GOAT?

Seriously, I mean, can this be an argument?

2 different coaches, 4 owls, against the current GOAT? (As much as I hate to say it he is, and my favorite QB is Captain Five-Head)
