What was the bigger choke:
3-1 or 18-1?
>>
6-1
>>
28-3

3-1 because it was against Cleveland

rams losing to the pats was a bigger upset than 18-1
>>
Explain the 18-1 one

Also, something I will never understand about most people in this website is how you always focus on the losing side. You always talk about GS and Curry being chokers but never about the Cavs and LeBron making history as the first NBA team to make such a comeback. That says a lot about your personalities
>>
>28-3
>3-1 NBA
>6-1
>3-1 MLB
>7-1

in that order
>>
>>74591171
2007 NE patriots won 18 games in a row, and then lost the championship game to a 10-6 giants team
>>
>>74591189
So, not a big deal

In the last WC we won the first 6 games and then lost the final, but that's how cups work...

3-1
>>
>>74591211
i mean, it was a big deal because only one team had ever won all of their games in a season, and that was when the season was shorter. also the giants were massive underdogs and the patriots were viewed as the best team of all time, and had won 3 championships in the previous 6 years.

it literally created this board btw
>>
>>74591211
Victory on PKs doesn't count as win. Match against Netherlands officialy counts as draw.
>>
>implying it's not scripted
>>
>>74591264
There are no draws in direct elimination, by your logic we also drew the final
>>
>>74591261
So it also adds to the 3-1 GS choke the fact of their exceptional regular season and the back-to-back unanymous MVP? I'm just trying to understand American sports' logic

yes, tom brady won the MVP that year, it was the greatest regular season of all time, and the giants were led by eli manning, a man suspected to have autism
>>
lamo 3-1 what a lead hahahahhaa, imagine if lebron blew a lead in NBA finals hahahaha
>>
>>74591266

>implying I'm not gay
>>
>Atlanta loses a 25 point lead after a near perfect first half of the owl
>this is somehow less embarrassing than Manning's stage fright
>>
>>74591261
it only revived it. /sp/ existed before it, but moot killed it
>>
>>74591055
>>74591304
they're similar in the sense that both the Pats and GS had a historic regular season, got to the finals easily and had the reigning MVP

the difference is that in 3-1 the comeback was orchestrated by the greatest basketball player of his generation
in 18-1 the comeback (featuring the most memorable play in modern NFL history) was orchestrated by Eli fucking Manning, a guy who only got into the league because his brother is a great player and is best known for his retard-like facial expressions on the field

+ there would be no /sp/ without 18-1 so for >us spuh lads it holds extra significance
>>
Americans really focus on the concept "you're only as good as your last game" so losses are treated the ultimate EXPOSED. The 18-1 pats were most likely the greatest single season side of all time, but you can never even suggest that in a discussion because they'll just scream "CHOKERS LOL".
>>
>>74599135
Yeah it wasn't really a choke. More just having an off night and being a little unlucky.

Atlantain SB 51 were not the better side, but this was a real example of a choke as they only needed to get one more field goal to put the game beyond doubt. The team and coaching staff got nervous and let the game slip from their grasp.
>>
>>74599193
it was really the offensive coordinator that blew the game. he never ran the ball in the second half (4 times all second half). if they ran the ball even a quarter of the time during the second half they would have won that game.

then after the game he skips town and becomes the new coach of a conference rival lel
>>
>3-1 isnt even the biggest comeback in a best of 7 series

18-1 is the biggest choke. If GS had gone 15-4 in the playoffs maybe but Golden State only even made the finals because OKC choked. Then lost to the East leader

New England had decimated everyone then got beat by a wildcard team.
>>
>>74599477
That's completely revisionist history, by week 10 the Pats weren't beating teams by 50 anymore and they barely got past a Chargers team with no LT and Rovers with with a torn ACL
>>
>>74591183
28-3 is the biggest SINGLE GAME choke but when you take the entire season into account it has to be 3-1 NBA. Warriors were not only up 3-1, they also had the best regular season record literally ever. To exceed Jordan's Bulls in expectations and then getting cucked by fucking Cleveland of all cities is the choke to end all chokes.
>>
>>74591183
3-0 (2004 ALCS) is bigger than all those.
>>
>>74599525

You're the one with the revisionist history you lying faggot. That entire year there were only 5 games they didn't beat their opponents by double digits.
>>
>>74599135
>yuroniggers are so desensitized by losses and draws that they fail to see the magnitude of 18-1 in burger sports.

'07 Pats had a chance to to cement themselves as the undisputed greatest team of all time, yet they lost to Eli Manning.
>>
>>74599525
Warriors were down 3-0 on OKC. That alone makes losing to LeBron, who has been in the finals like 90% of the time hes been in the league not as bad as 18-1
>>
>>74599586
And they almost lost to mediocre Ravens and Eagles teams, looked lethargic against San Diego, and barely beat the Giants in week 17
>>
>>74599641

So? You made it sound like the wheels were falling off and they scraped by most teams. Even great teams have off days. That's why even the best teams don't go undefeated.
>>
>>74599670
All I said was that they weren't blowing everybody the fuck out anymore, which is 100% true

And two shitty teams literally showed in prime time games how to scheme and game plan against that offense
>>
>>74591211
It's hard to make a metaphorical comparison between 18-1 and what its equal in football would be because of the context in which they lost.
It would sort of be like if Argentina went undefeated throughout all of the conmebol wc qualifiers, winning each game 5-0. Then went through their wc groups matches undefeated. And dominating their quarters and semis. Each match Messi is scoring a hat trick. But then they lose in the Finals by a score of 2-1 in the 93rd munite to Australia who had memed their way into the world cup to begin with.
