And that D1 closes a very exciting evening of darts from Glasgow.

Unfortunately, the opener was the only one that let the side down as Adrian Lewis finally ended Phil Taylor's unbeaten streak. A Stoke derby of very little quality only had one real moment of significance as Fatpot punished two missed darts at D8 by Pheel to break for a 5-3 lead and eventually secured a vital win.

Peter Wright followed up his maiden major victory with a less than convincing win over James Wade. Wright raced into a 5-1 lead - a 115 in leg 5 the highlight - but was pegged back by the Machine, who started his fight with a 100 to win three straight legs. However, Clownman secured the point with a 15 darter and held out in the 12th to top the table.

Michael van Gerwen's return was as explosive as you could get with a 106 average win over Kim Huybrechts. Kicking off in style with a 109, MVG was notably out of sorts at times but had a resilient Kimmy with him all the way. Unsurprisingly, this match was decided by the Belgian bottler blowing 4 darts at 5-5 and allowing Autism to prevail yet again.

The other Benelux choker proved his merit as Jelle Klaasen threw away a 4-1 lead to lose to Raymond van Barneveld. Klaasen hit 111 to go 3-1 up and had two clear darts for a 5-1 lead but both were appalling as Ray slammed in a huge 154. The Cobra only picked up a single leg after this point as RVB won with ease.

Gary Anderson's home crowd assisted him big time with a fairly simple win over Dave Chisnall. Gando went 5-0 up, hitting a wonderful 147 in the process, before allowing Dim Dave back in with 3 legs after 8 missed darts at double for 6-0. Chizz won no more however as the Scot closed it out in the 10th.
