The three biggest were in Europe. kys lad.
>>
muslims dont like football that much no explosions inside the stadiums so far

Can't you only use this term if your team is a merger of two or more former teams?
>>
will that be their average?

>>
>>74536199
27,000 season tickets have been sold so they will probably pull 35,000-40,000 the first season or 2 if they are actually good then it will be huge. Youth soccer in Atlanta is surprisingly big. Lots of National Champs at the club level from Atlanta
>>

The muzzies here in california love basketball for some reason.

pakis love football, don't know what you're talking about.

the pakis at my uni do nothing but talk about football, fifa on playstation, which food places are halal and shisha.
>>
>>74536105
>this weekend

wow, what an achievement lel

from what I understand it was Atlanta's first ever match, so of course the city was excited

let's see if they can keep it up and have the 4th largest crowd for an entire year....
>>
>>74536105
Why do most American stadiums never have any kind of roof?
>>
>>74536324
then why are they so shit at it?

has there ever even been one decent paki player in the world?
>>

MLS is embarrassing. Should be named Atlanta Expansion Franchise

Aside from the occasional Blizzard or Tornado in flyover land, the weather here is pretty dry.

I spent 4 months touring the British isles and the weather was very wet.

Did almost all of the top teams in Europe play away from home?
>>
>>74536668
There just aren't that many teams to choose from

The 3 teams were Barcelona, Man Utd and Dortmund

Schalke, Real Madrid and Arsenal were all away

I looked up AC Milan but they got 27k in an 80k stadium which is just sad.

Also West Ham tonight got 56k so would be 4th

That would cost ridiculously more amounts of money.
>>
>>74537030
Where's the NHL and NBA?

>>74538959
The average capacity of an NHL and NBA arena is between 15-20k. So the average attendance will be below that

>>
>>74539017
We have 320 million people (probably more, nobody is sure exactly how many illegals are here). Those attendance numbers seem high but for a country the size of the US they're pretty insignificant. We have amateur football, basketball, and baseball leagues that get better attendance.
>>
>>74539017

>>
>>74539042

I'm rather sure you have more than 3 million people who care about "soccer" in your country and that would be more than the entire Uruguayn population

You have no excuses for being bad at football, do like the Brits and just accept sports are not for you
>>
>>74539035
Lots of rich and/or dumb people. Demand is crazy high and supply is so limited that the league can afford to jack up prices. Like in Chicago, we've got 10 million people but Soldier Field only seats 60,000.
>>
>>74539046
Seattle dramatically inflates averages and totals. The league average is like 20k and they average 35k. Teams in areas with a lot of latinos, like LA and Houston, also get consistently solid attendance.

MLS' demographic is basically hipsters/college students/latinos that don't like Liga MX for whatever reason. Any area with a high concentration of one of those 3 will have around 20k fans showing up every week.
>>
>>74539060
It's a different situation with Uruguay, because their entire sports infrastructure and culture is geared towards soccer. The best coaches, best athletes, all go to soccer. Culturally, soccer is #1.

It's different in the US, soccer is #5 and gets very little focus relative to the rest. And even still, I wouldn't say the US is bad. We consistently reach the round of 16 at the WC.
>>
>>74539116
For American sports you need +2 meters roided up gyganiggas, your actual athletes are free to play soccer, they just happen to suck
>>
>>74539060
if you're a top level athlete in the USA you will be turned away from playing soccer even if it's what you want to. when i was in college on of my friends was a very good american football player, a starter for a division 1 college team and was just barely not good enough to play in the NFL. he originally wanted to play soccer but his dad forced him to play football instead. when 95% of our best athletes play a different sport no shit we're going to suck at soccer
>>
>>74539060
Colleges are dominated by Football, Baseball, Hockey, and Basketball so kids tend to gravitate towards them. It's different in Uruguay when they only have one sport in the forefront of everything.
>>
>>74539133
I'm not sure what you're talking about. Our top athletes in the 5'8"-6'1" height range all play football, baseball, hockey, and even basketball*. There are plenty of short stars in all of those sports. In almost no case is a top athlete choosing soccer above all else.

*There's an interesting trend of shorter players having more success in the NBA as it moves towards "smallball", look at guys like 5'9" Isaiah Thomas
>>
>>74539155
Let's say you are 170cm tall, just like Messi

What sports can you play besides soccer?
>>
>>74539158
Basketball is like our 5th sport and we still have players in the NBA, and multiple ring winners

You know why? Because they were too tall to play soccer, not because they liked the sport. I'm sure you must have some short and/or skinny Americans too
>>
>>74539195
If you're Messi's size then you're not a top athlete, you're a midget who doesn't play sports.
>>
>>74539195
Baseball
Jose Altuve is like 5'5 and he's one of the best players in the MLB
>>
>>74539195
Baseball. Pedroia is roughly Messi's size. Or you could do MMA, which is much more popular than soccer in the US.
>>
>>74539217
Nah, there are plenty of really short dudes running around in pro baseball. Not everyone has to be some 6'3" guy hitting dingers, there's a place for speedy contact hitters too.
>>
>>74539229
>MMA, which is much more popular than soccer in the US.
lies
>>
>>74539195
you can play baseball and hockey at that height. you can also play football but only one or two positions so the competition would be insane. you cant play basketball at that height unless you're a freak of nature.

the thing is, most guys with athletic dreams just give up on sports if they dont grow taller. they'll grow up playing football or basketball and then stay 170cm through high school and just stop trying. or they'll do wrestling, lacrosse, golf, or some other niche sport. they dont even give soccer a chance because our culture is so negative about it. most of them will just drop sports altogether and go to college for regular careers

i know "we dont care" sounds like a meme excuse but it's not, if you ever spend some time here you will notice it almost instantly
>>
>>74539253
I just refuse to believe Americans consider soccer a niche sport, it's literally the most popular sport in the world
>>
>>74539301
im not memeing you when i tell you this: if you walk up to a random person in chicago (where i live) and ask them who lionel messi is, most of them will not be able to tell you. it depends on where you live, like seattle probably has a lot more soccer fans than usual, and new mexico probably has a lot more central/south american immigrants than usual, but for the most part soccer is completely off the radar here. completely.

i consider myself a bigger soccer fan than most americans and i cant name a single player on our national team other than clint dempsey. idk if hes even still on the team.
>>
>>74536118
The thing is noone likes soccer here because its a sport for little girls so to have the fourth highest attendance in a commie sport really makes u think
>>
>>74539301
We don't even use celsius. What makes you think we would give a shit about soccer just because everyone else does?
>>
>>74539363
Messi was at Disney world a few years ago, just walking around in broad daylight at some water park (think it was Blizzard Beach) and nobody recognized him. Some euro tourist took a video of it from a distance and put it up on youtube. It must have been so weird for him.
>>
>>74539409
Not saying you should like it just becaue the rest of the world likes it, but quite the opposite. A sport to become that popular and in so many different cultures needs to be objectively good, can't explain why it never became a thing in the States

I mean, the USA got thousands if not millions of European (mainly British, German and Italian) immigrants in the late XIX, early XX; and all of them played soccer back home. Did they just stop caring about them once they arrived to the States or what? Here they funded the clubs we have now and made soccer popular
>>
>>74539450
>can't explain why it never became a thing in the States

Baseball and football were already well established by the time we heard about soccer.

>German and Italian immigrants

Can you think of anything that might have encouraged Germans and Italians to limit open enjoyment of foreign sports? Something that rhymes with "Swirled Boar", perhaps?

Also, yeah, they just stopped caring as they got assimilated. Same thing is starting to happen to latinos in the US, you see more and more Mexican Dodgers/Raiders fans than of any other sports teams. And of course the rest of us (Cubans/Dominicans/boricuas) never liked soccer anyway.
>>
>>74539400
President of the free world likes it
>>
>>74539450
Yeah and the natives beat the commie out of them
>>
>>74539495
So, European immigrants dropped soccer only because they were forced to

Makes sense
>>
>>74539549
Not because they were forced to, just German and Italian immigrants faced pressure to act more "American". And remember that those two groups make up a small minority of our total population, the German population is dramatically exaggerated (some guy named "Jones" with 1 German grandparent screaming "we wuz kaisers" accounts for like half the "German-American" population). There weren't really enough of them to keep the sport going.

The vast majority of Americans, up until recently, were of British/Irish descent. Then the Mexicans showed up.

There's less than 200k football players in Uruguay(counting kids, teenagers, countryside teams and lower pro divisions).

You can't possibly tell me that in the US the number is not at least 5 times bigger and inb4 you say what your media loves to parrot
>-b-b-b-but our best athletes are playing other sports
>I swear that if Negron James player soccer he'd be the best xD

You should definetely be able of getting more talent than us unless you're saying we just birth more talented people because we're freaks or some shit.

And contrary to popular belief we do practice other sports, sure they're not number 1 but I know people that could play football but are busy playing some irrelevant shit like basketball or rugby that are top 2 and 3 in here I think.

And it's not like our football is rich or anything, we're the poorest league in CONMEBOL, I went to Canada and they had better facilities than our top teams.

Small teams in first division here pay 1k a month to pro players, and by small teams I mean all of them except 5, sometimes they practice with old balls and old stuff in general. Youth divisions are the same for every team, Peñarol and Nacional are better nowadays but not by much either.

Point being, we're a few and we're dirty poor which is the complete opposite of your country. There's clearly something that's not working out in US soccer, you should work to change that.

There were smear campaigns about soccer in America led by other sports associations. Dads won't let their kids play the sport because it has the connotation of being gay or feminine. So only twinks and immigrants play the game. I think that with the global news cycle, that's starting to change, but it will still take twenty-or-so years until people view it as a "real sport" in most communities.

>>
>>74542301
This anon is right. SouthEast and NorthWest are rainforest territory.
>>
>>74539301
Well, believe it. Barring a brief burst of popularity in the 1970s, Americans have literally never given a fuck about soccer ever.

It's really only been since the USA hosted the World Cup in the 1990s, coupled with the rise of the internet and social media, that Americans were even aware that soccer existed and that people cared about it. It's very popular these days among the youngest generations who've grown up in a more globalized US, but yeah soccer remains one of the most niche sports in America.

We've never been into caring about what the rest of the world cares about. Baseball grew in the mid-1800s and the guys in charge of baseball even went so far as to create an entire bullshit origin story proving that baseball was totally, uniquely 100% American and had no European influences or origins. With that kind of history, Europe's literal sport was never going to thrive here.
>>
>>74542301
Plus there's a lot of blacks in the south. They don't work during the day and they're outside. Their body is like a solar panel that absorbs heat and sunshine making the temperature even hotter than it really is.

>I mean, the USA got thousands if not millions of European (mainly British, German and Italian) immigrants in the late XIX, early XX; and all of them played soccer back home. Did they just stop caring about them once they arrived to the States or what?

Yep. There has always been a huge pressure on immigrants to "Become American" when they come here and assimilate to the culture. And by the time lots of Germans, Irish, Poles, etc started coming here in droves, "Being American" meant caring about one sport, and that was baseball.
>>
>>74539565
>some guy named "Jones" with 1 German grandparent screaming "we wuz kaisers"

It's ridiculous how many of these so-called Germans have 1 or maybe 2 German relatives, everyone else is British, but they call themselves German because they think it's cool or something. It's pure delusion, I'm surprised it doesn't get mocked more often.

Soccer is the number one sport by far in Belgium. It's not even top 5 in New York.

If you're a top athlete in Belgium, you play soccer. If you're a top athlete in NY, or anywhere in the US, you play football, baseball, basketball, or hockey.

>inb4 people think I'm talking about Lebron-sized guys

Even manlets go into one of the big four sports (except basketball, of course). If Messi had been born in the US he'd be playing baseball. Plenty of manlet stars in that sport.

Messi would probably have played a number of youth sports here. I'm guessing he'd still have wound up in soccer, but easily could've been an undersized point guard or slot receiver who ultimately petered out at the college level. Your overall point stands tho. Our highest potential soccer players probably become failed athletes in other sports, although I wonder about guys like Westbrook or Iverson who are extremely skilled and freak athletes

Not sure why this is so hard for you to figure out. None of the country's top athletes go into soccer. Of course the soccer team isn't going to be elite, although it's still decent (consistently reaches the round of 16 at the world cup). We could have 1 billion people and it would be the same. There's a complete lack of national interest and limited popular support.

Football wasn't a popular sport in Germany until the start of the 20th century.
And it only really took off as the most watched sport in the 60s-70s.
>>
>>74542520
i assume you don't alternate home/away every other math? teams stay home for a while and then travel?
>>
>>74542525
Well it was pretty popular for NAZIs, but I get your point.
>when you got good everyone started caring
That tends to happen.
>>
>>74542543
Correct. Also, every matchup between two teams is a 3 game series. So it's common for a team to play 9-12 games in a row at home before going on a lengthy road trip.
>>
>>74542543
It's all over the place, actually. Sometimes they have back to back games at home and away, sometimes you play a number of games in a row at home or away.
>>
>>74542551
The Nazis cared about athletics way more than anywhing else.
Of course they infiltrated the clubs, but they did that to any other organization in Germany.

>>when you got good everyone started caring
Yeah, football got it's first fix of mass appeal when Germany won the 54 world cup as gross outsiders.
But the real popularity came when the Bundesliga was established and the clubs professionalized.
>>
>>74542582
That's what I'm saying. When it became entertaining to watch football regularly, and root for your home team, then the sport became popular. Right now we don't have good football to watch, other than imports from other countries. People in America don't care about other countries.

It's more evidence that nobody really cares about women's football.

Lots of women don't do sports, because they think it's something only ugly women and tomboys do. And recently there's been an ad campaign here to try and combat that stereotype, by showing a bunch of homely women doing sports.

Awful comparison family
Women are literally physically inferior to men, so why the fuck would ANYONE watch ANY KIND of women's sports?
>>
>>74543219
The people who play soccer in America are physically inferior to the guys in pretty much any other sport because there's a social stigma around the sport, and an underlying craving for machismo in America prevents wanting to be a part of it for most.

Why would we watch or play a shititty version of a game that we've been told by our dads is for pussies and gays?
>>
>the entire crowd stood up for the entire match
I don't even think that's allowed in yurop anymore
>>
>>74543155
Not soccer stadiums. Pretty much only American football gets that size. Hockey and basketball fit less than this on average.
>>
>>74543155
Oh that's only football stadiums, and only the biggest ones at that.

Some college stadiums hold over 100,000, but that's with bleacher seating instead of individual seats.

Average stadium size for non-football sports is probably closer to 40,000. NBA and NHL arenas average around 35,000 and MLB stadiums are around 45,000 I believe.

>>
>>74543458

>>
>>74543481
Not exactly.

First Question: Should PR continue its current status (of a territory)?
>Yes: 46%
>No: 54%

Second Question: Which non-territorial status do you prefer?
>Statehood: 61%
>Free Association: 33%
>Independence: 5%

So the people who want statehood aren't necessarily a majority of the country. And 500,000 idiots out of the 1,800,000 who voted just left their ballots blank or circled multiple answers, so god only knows what they wanted.
>>
>>74543624
*So the people who want statehood aren't necessarily a majority of the country.

Meaning that there are probably a lot of people who are happy with the current status but would prefer statehood if they were forced to choose a different one.
