I think there has been a shift in their drafting strategy though, they're taking shots at dropping players now and hope they develop. in 2013 they got Duclair (rip) and Buchnevich in the third round, last year's Sean Day is another pick that would've been a high risk if taken in an earlier round but a great one in the third.
And I believe if they had their eyes on a specific prospect, they wouldn't have dealt their 1st rounders so easily. I can't recall all the players the picks turned into, but one was Joshua Ho-Sang.
