>Lance Stroll has a year of private access to a specifically built simulator that not even the 2016 Williams drivers are allowed to use
>Lance Stroll has literally the most varied, expensive and extensive testing programme for his F1 debut, driving on various circuits around the world with a full crew of engineers and mechanics traveling with him
>Lance Stroll has the most pre-season mileage (even before actual pre-season testing) since Jacques Villeneuve
>crashes so hard that it destroys the car and has already cost Williams almost 2 full days of testing
>it is unknown if Williams will have a new chassis ready for Barcelona Test 2

>Giothenazi drives a F1 car for the first time in Fiorano like a month ago
>literally no F1 experience prior to that aside from some Ferrari meme simulator day and some other sim work
>has literally no money to buy extravagant personal aids
>Giothenazi jumps into a team he doesn't know as a last-minute replacement for testing
>sets good times
>drives hundreds?(at least more than 100) of laps despite some technical issues
>spins like once without any major incident
>DOESNT CRASH THE CAR
>DOESNT PERMANENTLY DESTROY A CHASSIS

hmm really made me think

Not that Gio is the only one, Ocon did the same, Verstappen did the same, Vandoorne scored points and drove extremely well with no preparation on like a 48hr warning in a shitbox. Stroll is probably so embarrassed at this point that it is just going to end up in a negative feedback loop and he's going to go full beta crashmaster. Maldonado crashed a lot because he overdrove not because of insecurity just because he was a fucking madman, Stroll crashes and is going to continue to crash because he is undoubtedly not ready and probably simply not of F1 caliber. Pretty sure his dad wants him to be an F1 driver more than he does.

Winter Stream is back up for those with extremely good taste.
>>
>>74459381

The thing about him is that he has had a good junior career aside from some very questionable moves on occasion.

I wouldn't necessarily even rate him in the "shitty paydriver" column, because he has some sort of talent. Unless his performances were 100% the result of Premawinslol and bux to get better parts than others, which is likely a factor, but still.

I don't get what the rush is with him. Not every 18 year old is a Verstappen and that's such a ridiculous standard to hold others anyway. If Stroll did the normal thing of doing a year of F 3.5, then GP2 until he wins it, then maybe some LMP or Super Formula in between, he would a) be much more prepared b) more mature c) had made all his mistakes in front of smaller crowds and learned from them.

I guess rich people are just impatient and want things to happen when they want them to.

I wonder how his private tests went? Has there been any word on how those went and if he crashed a lot there? You would think he would have gotten the hang of it by now. I do think F3 into 2017 F1 is a massive step, but Stroll has spent most of the winter break driving 2014 Williams, which is simply not a bad car and not that drastically off the 2017 F1, so his jump in speed is more or less the same as everyone else.

aka he is a fucking hack but probably could have been more passable had he progressed his career like a normal person. Perez has the personal backing of someone who is like 100x richer than Stroll's dad and could buy F1 and it wouldn't even be a big deal, yet he wasn't brought in from some shitty feeder series straight to F1, he did GP2 and whatnot and then got a Sauber drive.

Question.

>red bull
>tag heuer engine

The fuck? Google tells me they make watches.
So they call it that but what is the engine really?
Renault?
>>
>>74459564
Straight from Google because you are retarded enough to not Google this
>"The new partnership, which represents a shift away from F1's conventional supply systems, will see TAG Heuer take up naming rights of the team's power unit, which will be supplied by Renault. The new car will be christened the Red Bull Racing-TAG Heuer RB12." said Red Bull in a statement.
>>
>>74458774
yeah is usually mixed with Jaeger over here so would work i reckon
>>
>>74459608

So do they run the same engine the renault team is using or engine from a previous year/something else?
>>
>>74459564
it's a Renault engine with the TAG Heuer badge on it because Red Bull wanted to find a new engine manufacturer before 2016 but were blocked by Mercedes and Ferrari, and had too much pride to admit defeat
>>
>>74459652
the Internal Combustion Engine is Renault's 2017 engine but the electric sided (Heat Energy Recovery and Kinetic Energy Recovery systems) are made by Red Bull, and Tag Heuer pay naming rights to say they make the parts, even though Red Bull did
>>
>>74459652
same exact engine as Renault. The gap between the RB12 and the Renault in 2016 shows you how bad the Renault chassis was

TAG group do mechanical stuff (apparently turbos and jets) and some Porsche engines in McLaren were badged as TAG in the 80's. TAG Heuer badged engines are referencing the 80's engines, I presume. They won 2 WCCs and 3 WDCs, with Prost and Lauda between 84-86.

TAG group bought Heuer in '85, and renamed it as TAG Heuer. In '99 Heuer was almost complete sold to someone else, and the new owners didn't remove the TAG part. But TAG group is still seperate, and actually owns most of McLaren.

...Yes!
And no.

At some point, I actually went up to 173kg.
Then after a little diet got back to 170kg again which is currently where I'm at.

I started a new, more hardcore diet yesterday. 1500 calories a day. Considering I need around 3700 calories a day to maintain my weight, this should be fast. This is only day 2 of the diet, so obviously no results yet, I can't do miracles. Will post results in a week. I'm telling you though, I feel good. Positive. I'm really gonna do it. Haven't felt this way in years.

A favela (Portuguese pronunciation: [faˈvɛlɐ]) is a low-income historically informal urban area in Brazil. The first favela, presently known as Providência in the center of Rio de Janeiro, appeared in the late 19th century, built by soldiers who had nowhere to live following the Canudos War. Some of the first settlements were called bairros africanos (African neighborhoods). Over the years, many former enslaved Africans moved in.

I don't mind bias only of there is a ballance. If for example they had a commentary team made up of a French, an American and a British, they could be as biased as they want but the other 2 will keep them in check and call them out for their bullshit.

I voted to change the flag, streets named after influential people of the time that the street was to be named is common and I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't see how either of those points add to your argument though.

>>
>>74462355
>>74462519
Ted's method of reasoning, though, is "it makes the wing work harder because it adds more downforce because it makes it work harder", not a coherent train of logic. It's one thing to get a detail wrong, but his knowledge of aerodynamics is almost to the point of the opposite of what a part actually does.

He hasn't a clue what s-ducts are for, thinks the boundary layer is always a turbulent flow that has to be dealt with by sucking a small piece of it away from the front wing, turning vanes and bargeboards and instead to the top of the chassis, thoroughly misunderstands the regulations and immediately replaces any correct information he does know with inaccuracies.

Yes that is literally what we are talking about, he acts as if he knows more than them in their areas of expertise.
>because it's more interesting to watch than just nodding and agreeing
Disagree here, what is interesting is finding out the truth, at the start of the interview he was doing a great job at this 2bh, then he started talking about the wings and when told he was wrong he doubled down on how he is correct regardless of the fact one of the most brilliant minds on F1 aerodynamics was telling him otherwise. That isn't interesting to watch, it's just cringy.
>>
>>74462820
Actually the I forgot about the boundary layer nose part. But that was fine because get was asking in a probing matter (like the wings) but when corrected by Newey he continued to probe for more info on how it works, he didn't double down on how it was the boundary layer thing he saidm

>>

No DRS is going to mean there'll be basically no overtakes, since these cars are now wider, produce much more dirty air off the back, have much shorter braking distances, and therefore are way harder to overtake

If the cars weren't so aerodynamically sensitive then I'd support getting rid of DRS

But unfortunately they sort of are

AMX fucks up his start at Dubai and drops back to 15th and them used DRS to easily pass all the cars infront and because he was on the super softs he just takes a long stint and bang, he's back in the Ferrari/RedBull fight? Shouldn't he have been punished for poor starting?

DRS is actually worse for the weaker teams, it stops them from ever trying to fight a better team as with DRS AMX in the dubai scenario presses a button and zips past the Williams and Force India's while flipping them the proverbial bird. DRS is an artificial gimmick the reduces the skill of racecraft and eases the difficulty that should be integral to Formula 1.

Also getting DRS at a multiple DRS zone track is ridiculous, so often cars make a DRS overtake after the first DRS detection point but then are then allowed to open DRS again down the second straight, destroying any hope of the car that was overtaken from coming back and an on track battle ensuing.

DRS BAD

All the "amazing" comebacks since DRS were shit 2bh. The back and mid teams know there is no point defending because come the DRS zone they will just shoot pass. Think back and you can remember races where a top driver had penalties or contact that caused them to drop to the back, they had to fight tooth and nail to get back to the points let alone a podium.

DRS only benefits the top teams by helping them recover for their sponsors when they fuck up

DRS has ruined countless potential battles that could have been really exciting, even if the person behind didn't get past. And though we have dirtier air, the tyres being solid might actually help drivers be able to feel comfortable pushing to get past, rather than being in permanent tyre management mode.

This is one of the problems with measuring things in pure, raw statistics. 'More overtaking' doesn't necessarily mean 'more excitement' in the slightest. DRS brought all the excitement of watching two cars in different lanes on the fucking motorway. Look at how close the Mercs ran to one another in practically ever race, DRS did shit. The only time it was marginally useful and not OP was street circuits.

I can see where they were going with DRS, they're trying to replicate a phenomenon very common to almost all other forms of motorsport that got ruined by the overabundance of aero which is that natural drafting down the straightaways you get which stops the guys in front from simply clearing off (except it didn't this year).

We know from how complex the aero is that being in the turbulent wake of a car in front is no good even down the straights, this is completely diametrically opposed to other racing series (like any motorcycle racing discipline) where being on the back wheel(s) of the guy in the front is the best place to be.

if you want an extreme example of that (possibly too much) look at moto3, drafting is everything and combined with literally everyone being a horny latino teenager the overtakes are constant and insane.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK_jo6bWEMI

The problem is, this just isn't gonna happen in F1 these days, it's just part of the concept of the whole series that it's not gonna bet here, so trying to artificially reintroduce it just seems silly to me.

Toyota #5 led the entire second half of the race on the back of outstanding stints by Anthony Davidson. They had a two minute lead and were a pit-stop up on their closest competitor after 23 hours. They switched to their Japanese driver, Kazuki Nakajima, for the final hour and he broke the car with 5 minutes left. They didn't even finish the race. Porsche #2 won the race.

I believe the canton of Zug you can negotiate your personal tax rate. Most billionaires get """paid""" via capital gains, interest, or an other low tax income classification (Mitt Romney paying 11%, etc.). Since athletes get paid a wage, it's harder to weasel out of an ordinary income tax rate.

Warren Buffet even said there is a way to legally pay zero income tax over your lifetime, effectively borrowing against an established fortune for the rest of your life, and having your estate pay off the principle upon death, coupled with not realizing any capital gains from any business entity held in trust or repatriating any overseas income for investment from tax shelter jurisdictions. This will require full cooperation with your family office's private bank and a massive starting fortune.

US citizens have to pay tax on all realized income, regardless of it's origin, or the citizen's residency. Different nations have different rules.

http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/formel-1/verdacht-gegen-mercedes-verbotener-trick-mit-oel-im-benzin-11828316.html

Red Bull now specified their suspicion: They say Mercedes is pushing oil from below past the piston rings into the combustion chamber to (briefly) enhance the performance with additives that are not allowed in the fuel.

The FIA have since clarified again that oil is not allowed as an additive to fuel, at not time of the weekend.

Also there are a lot of pictures from the Mercedes engine from smoking from last year, this could indicate a burning on oil residue after a warmup lap or a hot lap in qualifying. Personally I do remember seeing more puffs of smoke coming from the Mercedes than any other car, but that could just be my own subconscious confirmation bias.
>>
>>74470018

Hurr hurr well obviously Renault is just shit and can't get their oil burning system to work, so they're trying to get it banned. Fuck Renault.

>like Ferrari being shit because they complained about hydro suspension
>>
>>74470044
The suspension fiasco is due to an FIA regulation grey are where they have been unable to deliver a clear clarification on the set parameters on the front suspension on the cars.

This is different, as there is no need for clarification on oil being added to fuel, it's straight up not allowed. Meanwhile the FIA can't even decide whether the suspension is legal or illegal.

I'm of opinion that they've made it perfectly clear. What RB is doing is illegal, what Mercedes is doing is perfectly legal in all aspects and shouldn't be even talked about desu.

Mine was the battle between Hulk and Hamilton in Korea, 2013. Hulk was holding up Hamilton in his slower Sauber, even managed to get back past after one dull DRS pass. Think it was the next lap Hamilton just blasted back in front.

Completely neutralised a brilliant Alesi/Sennaesque fight.

I think you're interpreting this the wrong way.

They're aerodynamically sealing the floor/diffuser to the road, not physically sealing it.
They deliberately induce a vortex along the edge of the floor, which acts like an air skirt.
The cutouts and flicks at the start of the floor we have seen appearing over the last few years are there for this reason.

That said, please ignore everything I have said. I don't have a Cray supercomputer, therefore I know nothing about F1 aerodynamics.

Also, fwiw, this was also more or less how blown diffusers worked.

Their primary goal was to seal the edge of the diffuser with a curtain of energised exhaust flow, which let them increase the rake, thereby making the diffuser area larger

If I ever decide to pay Sky, 40-50€ a month for the whole package (F1, MotoGP, football and other stuff) plus initial costs around 220€
