>>

>>
>>74454881
People are finally getting in touch with the fact that he isn't a 50-goals-per-season guy, and he's doing quite alright.

Season just started, but he has 6 goals in 7 games (against pretty shit opposition), which is the best beginning he ever had in his career. Flamengo's team is very solid now, where in past years he had to deal with shit team mates.

Personally, I hope he goes for a brace against Fluminense in Taça Guanabara's final this Sunday, just so he can get more confident in derbies and to keep his great average this season.
>>
>>74454826
Right now, I'd say the first level big clubs are Palmeiras, Flamengo, Atletico-MG and Santos, in terms of team quality, with maybe Gremio or Cruzeiro completing the Top 5.

But in terms of fans, it's Flamengo, Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras and Vasco, in that order.

Now, talking about history, Santos and Botafogo are the ones with more to say, especially in the 50s/60s. Palmeiras around that same time, Flamengo in the 80s and Sao Paulo a bit later are pretty big too.

>>

Bolivia and Venezuela are, and by far, our weakest associations, and their teams (both at international and at club level) would easily destroy 10-0 any Guyana or Surinam team.

I'm not even sure that football is played there tbqh.

>>
>>74454826
There are 12 clubs considered big in here. The biggest and most relevant are Palmeiras, Corinthians, Flamengo, Vasco and São Paulo, not necessarily in that order (and by biggest and most relevant I mean in terms of titles, national and international recognition, supporters and such). The rest of them are Santos (lots of titles, but most of them happened on the Pelé days or with Neymar, and they dont have a good support, despite being the only big club in their city and having a stadium with max attendance of only 18k, they rarely fill their stands. I myself have never met a Santos supporter in my life), Cruzeiro, Atlético Mineiro, Grêmio, Inter (have lots of titles too, but less than the other clubs I mentioned, and their support is basically limited to their home state), and then finally Fluminense and Botafogo (less national titles than all the others, no international titles, relevant in the "romantic" era of football but almost no success after that, smaller support than 2nd tier clubs, lots of relegations, with Fluminense having the "honor" of being the only one of the big clubs to ever get relegated to the 3rd division, while Botafogo´s last major title was 22 years ago). After that you have local giants, clubs that are really big on their home state, but won little in a national level, like Bahia, Coritiba, Atlético Paranaense, Sport. Those clubs will usually fight for recognition as the 13th giant, just like Huracan tries in Argentina.
>>
>>74461057
on point

Fluminense is not that much of a joke as we're making it look like, tho. I mean, they had 2 league titles this decade, plus that Libertadores final in 2008 and Sulamericana in 2009. Their fanbase is shrinking dramatically, but in terms of titles in recent years, they're no worse than Flamengo, Palmeiras, or Vasco.

Vasco on the other side is kind of sad, 3 relegations in 8 years are really hurting its status. It's supporters aren't dying soon, since the club's golden age was not that long ago, but damn if they're losing some respect.

At least that's how I see things here in Rio.
>>
>>74459262
>>74460074
How is Santos playing? The Strongest have to play against them on Libertadores so I wonder if >we are going to rape them as well
>>
>>74461346
Fluminense only started to win something recently, I have Fluminense supporters in my family and they have always been the laughing stock when it came to football, and after the money went away they returned to be. I agree with you on Vasco, they still have a huge fanbase and so, but if they get relegated again this year, I seriously fear for the club's future.

>>74461390
They have a huge number of players out injured and are in a big crisis, only won 2 games so far this season and suffered 2 defeats in a row at home, where they have been almost unbeatable recently, one of those defeats was to a literally who team with no division. Their supporters are threatening the players, while the players are publicly complaining about the lack of support and the dismissal of the Director of Football. But their best players can still win a game in a moment. It wont be easy, but I think you guys actually stand a chance (and I´m really hoping you do rape them, it will be pure lulz and likely cause a chimpout).

Officially, it's because they went to Concacaf and asked to be part of it when their associations were established, instead of trying to get into Conmebol.

And that was motivated because they are weak as shit and even the weakest of Conmebol countries could destroy them, so they chose to be part of a less strong confederation. And they are shit even for Concacaf standards, so go figure.
>>
>>74461753
Culturally they have stronger ties to the Caribbean. French and Dutch isn't spoken anywhere in CONMEBOL.

>I think most matches are in different timeslots anyway

>>74464110
No it definetely is a trophy but not the big one.

For example Peñarol wins apertura, then the table resets for the second half of the season and Nacional wins Clausura.

Then you have a final between Peñarol and Nacional to decide the champion.

>Los torneos Apertura y Clausura, también conocidos como "torneos cortos", son torneos que se disputan dentro de la temporada del Campeonato Uruguayo de Fútbol, y al igual que en muchos países de Latinoamérica, dividen la temporada en dos mitades, cada una con su propio campeón. En Uruguay, los dos campeones de los torneos cortos (en caso de ser dos clubes distintos) disputan partidos a final de temporada, para determinar un campeón único anual.

Then I guess people celebrated at Colonia anyway right? good for them
>>
>>74464272
Yeah of course, the title is still a thing and Plaza Colonia is a really small team so to them it means even more.

I think the players get paid like 1k a month too so it's quite impressive.

>What about bi-champion Cruzeiro losing to fucking San Lorenzo in 2014?
oh, well, I meant this season right now. But hey, Quarter Finals and best attack in group stage is not as bad as being eliminated in Palmeiras' group. And Cruzeiro weren't bi-champions yet by the time that happened! That was pretty bad, but San Lorenzo ended up as the champion, too, so I guess that alleviates things a bit.

>Didn't they lose to Naciomal last copa?
Yeah, they were very shit in last Libertadores but that motivated them to do better and they ended up as Brasileirão champions. Plus, their team is stacked af. Second most expensive team in Liberta, only a little behind Atletico-MG who like to burn their money. Everybody is hyping up Palmeiras cause they're the champions and also got the best transfers last window. Only weak points are that they changed coach and lost Mr. Jesus.

Anything interesting happening in your local leagues this weekend lads?

Here AFA threatened teams that don't play this weekend will lose their points
>>
>>74464841
Stop trying to jinx Palmeiras, just because you spent last season celebrating the league title and ended up finishing 3rd, nearly 10 points behind them.

Bolivia looking stronk this year. Let's keep an eye on Wilstermann

Brasileirão hasn't started yet, so we're still in the state championships deluding ourselves.

Oh, there's the Campeonato Carioca final match, Fla x Flu. Both teams are undefeated this season and Flamengo's the favorite to win this one.

In your defense, Atlético Paranaense do have a very good team, even for hue standards, they only lost 1 game at home last season, and it was for the champions (and pls stop calling them just Paranaense, or Mineiro, its wrong),

Most teams can be referred to with one of the words that make up their names, stop being autistic.
>>
>>74467656
Most teams, not all of them. And I'm not the only one who finds it weird when other conmebros refer to some br clubs like that, the brazilian media complains about it a lot.
>>
>>74467784
It's something about Paranaense. I always hear media/regular people say Atletico Mineiro but they always say Paranaense more often than Atletico Paranaense
>>
>>74467392
pls add one more letter like

Atl-MG, Atl-PR, Atl-TU

that remembers me of alt mineiro
