he would have at least hit 20 per year without a doubt.
>>
So let me get this right.

The R*****ns finally get a QB that is actually not complete crap and has the ability to at least make them a playoff team...

but the fans DONT want to pay him because >le too much money you cant build around!!

??

Do these fans realize how fucking absurdly difficult it is just to get a COMPETENT QB in this league?
>>
>>74436933
$24 million isn't chump change. cousins has been good enough to make them a borderline competitive team so far, but it's not like he's doing it in a vacuum. plus their defense is truly terrible and they have several key offensive players who are FAs.

you can pay cousins the $24 million and struggle to build around him, or go into a rebuild. neither option is appealing, but they fucked themselves over by not signing him last year

BASED Joe Thomas. Completely destroyed the Combine on his Twitter. Shows how pointless it is from a scouting perspective. Just entertainment for fans to talk about 40 times in bodysuits (having no bearing on playing speed whatsoever), stationary vertical leaps, and bench press reps.

Tape
System
Eye test

The three most important factors.

Run times seem pretty relevant for WR and DB types, but getting the OT's out there sprinting is pretty silly. Also seems pretty good for getting prospects legit height/weight instead of going off janky ass college stats, as well as getting them through physicals. Definitely has some pageant aspects but doesn't seem worthless either.
>>
>>74438281
With a system graph. Don't you know anything about analytics?
>>

No, elucidate.

How much will Charles or Peterson command?

Could the lions grab either of them? Anything would be an improvement for the running game.
>>
>>74438332
I'd rather keep it opaque, like all analytics. What is Mitch Trubisky's WAR?
>>
>>74438323
The only reason I say that is because it comes straight from an NFL scout's mouth. A guy I graduated HS with is one (not saying which team, but it isn't the Browns). He stated it pretty plainly that the 40 times are pretty much just for show and tell. They evaluate "real-time gameplay speed", whatever the fuck that means.

The one anon was right about the mingling though, they trade info on prospects even though it's frowned upon.
>>
>>74438369

>>74438281
the fucking eye test senpai

shitty coaches come in with a scheme and force players to mold
>>
>>74438360

I would be very surprised if either got more than 4 or 5 million with little guaranteed, with about 4 being most likely if they don't stick their noses up at that and retire. They'll probably be able to pick between a few teams that are willing to give them about that, at least until the team gets a better look at them in camp.

Tape is the most important by far but combine is a good tie breaker if two prospects are near equal. For example Randy Gregory's draft stock was really high before he bombed interviews and teams rightfully let him slide. a good scout obviously doesn't rely on the combine but it's there so you might as well use it with a grain of salt.

I guess we'll see if Magic Mike knows his stuff in the coming two years. I hate the story lines coming out of the NY media such as "Todd Bowles is fighting for his job" "Draft a QB first round." Keep Bowles, sign Glennon, keep building through the draft.

>>
Another general ruined by tripfags
>>
>>74438849
yeah NY media fucking sucks, worst part by far about being a ny sports fan.

I'm not really going to judge Bowles by the # of games he wins next year because that depends on what the roster looks like and injuries sustained throughout the season, but the team absolutely can not quit on him like it did last year or he has to go.

I didn't think they'd trade richardson at first but from what I've read they'll lower their asking price. I do think it's the right move, sheldon's a good player but we're already locked into Wilkerson I really want to save cap room for Williams down the line. He's going to be something special man. Richardson is probably the biggest cancer so getting rid of him would help a lot.

No qb in this draft is worth a first rounder, I'd be fucking pissed if we blow 6 on a qb but I don't think Mike would do that.

I'd sign Glennon as long as he isn't seeking something stupid. I'm hoping the fact that Osweiler flopped it'll somewhat bring down the leverage of similar qb's who have limited sample sizes but I don't think it will.

>>74438873
if stills is looking for something stupid it's probably best to let him go. He's a good deep guy but far from a necessity. You could get a nice comp pick the next year too.

You think we'll grab Zeitler?

If we end up making any FA moves (which I think we probably will this year) I think picking up him and Stephon Gilmore, Trumaine Johnson (assuming he isn't tagged), or AJ Bouye would be a good idea. Maybe Dontari Poe to be next to Shelton on the D-line. If Pryor ends up leaving, Jeffrey would be cool.

Considering we have the most money to spend, I feel like the front office is prepared to make some big moves.

brooks, johnson, seumalo, and vaitai is the core of a young o-line to grow along with wentz

cook would just take so much pressure off him because he's a force in the passing game as well. an offense of wentz, cook, FA wr, and a midround draft pick plus jmatthews is worlds better than last year, especially since lane johnson should be playing the whole year

he's the biggest play threat in the draft. davis is good on paper but the competition worries me a little and he is a little banged up, and williams can't separate that well.

if we go offense in the first, it would be fantastic to go cook. you can see what a first round RB of that level did for the cowboys last year, and there are so many quality corners in the draft anyway

I agree, Mike Williams is an Anquan Boldin 3rd down and red zone receiver with occasional meme jump balls at best

And Davis will be exposed by good DBs

This is a very weak WR draft and it makes sense to go value like Kupp

kupp would be nice, but if we don't get a big redzone type guy in FA it would make sense to target one in the middle rounds of the draft. i'm really high on chris godwin but i'm probably biased.

>>
>>74443315

so does this mean the pats might move on from Brady after 2017?

They're not going to resign Jimmy G to be a backup when he's going to want starting opportunities and it doesn't make sense to let him walk just for the compensatory selection when they'd probably get a higher pick from just dealing him.

of course they could be just trying to drive up his trade value by looking like they really want to keep him.

I don't think any of the teams that need a quarterback and dumb enough to believe that they're just a quarterback away. So if that's what they're doing, I don't think it's going to work. If someone was going to bite, they would have done so by now. I haven't heard any rumors that any of the teams that need a quarterback are in love with Garoppolo

If Brady shows his age next season you'd better believe the pats would have second thoughts of letting Jimmy G go.

And teams that need quarterbacks could change a lot in a year, think Carson Palmer/Ben Roethlisberger retiring.

Not him but they might not keep Brady. He looks great now but he's at the age where one injury can make him useless in the blink of an eye, moreso than usual at least. Think Peyton Manning, had a record setting offense when they lost the super bowl, gets hurt a short way into the next season and was barely functional just like that. When quarterbacks hit the wall they hit it hard, and Bradys time might be closer than most people think. Maybe Billy B likes the idea of having some insurance if the unexpected happens.

also I think the Giants taking Peterson makes a lot of sense. give two fading stars a good supporting class and ring chase for one last season.

Peyton's not the best comparison since he was noodle armed his entire tenure in Denver, even in his mvp season he easily had one of the worst arms in the league.

Coming off surgery that affects your nerves is dramatically worse than just simple aging.

It'll probably be more he goes out like Brett Favre where the little injuries just keep piling up.

Every single scout and insider trying to get Chad Kelly to sink to between the 3rd and 7th.
mock drafts can have him going in the 6th or 7th across the board.

He's my 2nd favorite QB in this class and the NFL drafts niggers that fracture womens jaws for not hopping on the dick fast enough.
come the fuck on he's not gonna get drafted in the 3rd. ACL or not.
1. Mahomes
2. Chad Kelly
3. Kizer if you can actually coach him
4. Peterman
5. Trubisky
6. Watson in the late first or top 5 in the 2nd to some team thats ok with an RG3 rookie season until he gets figured out then an RGknee ending

>>
Just rewatched Superbowl 51. Two things stood out to me

The Patriots got extremely luck on a catch right after the pick 6. Brady got hit on the throw and the ball wobbled through the air before being snagged by Bennett and advanced. Another pick there would have sealed the deal for sure.

The Falcons were lucky the game even went to overtime. When they punted right before the end of regulation, Edleman called for a fair catch and fielded the ball at the 40 yard line. On that same play, Mathew Slater was slammed to the turf after the whistle with a wrestling type throw that could have been flagged for unnecessary roughness, which would have advanced the ball 15 yards, well withing Gostowski's range for a fair catch free kick. Belichick had considered calling it anyway, but it was a little outside his kicker's range.
>>
>>74455841

Also the last two throws to Bennett were designed plays for Gronkowski. Bennett is a good tight end but he doesn't have the stature or body control of Gronkowski. Gronk would have caught both balls easily, as the defender was beat both times. Bennett meanwhile fell down on both attempts.

Scot McCloughan - G - Redskins

Redskins GM Scot McCloughan disputed a report that he was sent home from team headquarters on February 20.
"I'm taking care of my family, plain and simple," McCloughan said. In a text conversation with 106.7 The Fan's Brian McNally, McCloughan replied "Correct" when asked if he won't attend this week's NFL Combine at all. McCloughan previously told McNally he wasn't in Indy because he was "setting up the funeral for his grandmother." The grandmother's funeral occurred on February 13.

Chris Russell of 106.7 The Fan in D.C. reports Redskins GM Scot McCloughan is no longer running the team.
Russell stated president Bruce Allen, coach Jay Gruden, scouts Alex Santos and Scott Campbell, and personnel executive Doug Williams have taken over. Williams has reportedly taken on an "increased role," likely at McCloughan's expense. McCloughan "has nothing to do with anything and has not for a very long time," according to Russell. McCloughan is allegedly missing the Combine due to the passing of his 100-year-old grandmother. Online records show McCloughan's grandmother passed away on February 6. The funeral occurred on February 13, and the woman was laid to rest the next day.

Scot McCloughan - G - Redskins

CSN Mid-Atlantic's J.P. Finlay reports Redskins GM Scot McCloughan's grandmother "passed away last month," and her death was "not a surprise for the family."
In other words, the death of McCloughan's grandmother was not sudden and a situation that would prevent him from doing his job. Perhaps someone else close to McCloughan passed away more recently, but any NFL GM's absence from the Combine is notable regardless of circumstance. And especially in McCloughan's case with so many rumors circulating about his health and role in Washington.

Scot McCloughan

Chris Russell of 106.7 The Fan in D.C. reports Redskins GM Scot McCloughan was "sent home" and "told not to return for now" on February 20.
McCloughan personally told the Washington Post he isn't at the Combine due to a "death in the family," and the Redskins announced McCloughan isn't in Indy because he's "taking care of some family matters." It's believed McCloughan's grandmother passed away. On Wednesday night, Russell cited "reliable sources" in reporting McCloughan hasn't been at Redskins Park for over a week. Hopefully, the team will shed more light on the situation in the next few days.
Source: Chris Russell on Twitter

Redskins GM Scot McCloughan told the Washington Post's Mike Jones he is not attending the NFL Combine due to a "death in the family."
No further details are available. An NFL general manager missing the Combine is extremely uncommon under any circumstance, but McCloughan's absence is now more understandable. The Redskins have still shed little light on McCloughan's current status with the team and role in the organization. In early February, the Washington Post reported team president Bruce Allen "put McCloughan on notice," and is "breathing down his neck" after the Redskins missed the playoffs due to a Week 17 loss to the Giants.

Redskins GM Scot McCloughan is not in attendance at this week's NFL Combine.
A team spokesman said McCloughan is "taking care of some family matters," but his absence will only add to speculation McCloughan is being pushed out in Washington. Team employee Chris Cooley recently started a rumor that McCloughan has been drinking, and multiple reports out of D.C. indicate McCloughan's power in the Redskins' front office has been reduced and/or stripped. For the past two years, the Redskins had seemingly become a functional organization again on McCloughan's watch. Since the 2016 season ended, the dysfunction has returned and then some.

Brady and Rodgers respect each other a great deal.
as Great QBs should,

remember when Brady said Peyton and Montana were still his superiors just around a year ago?
of course you dont because you are retarded.
being someone who respects Bradys game I think he wanted to surpass him in his coming years.
likewise I think Rodgers is just setting up another obstacle like Favre was for his first 5~ Seasons.

BTW Rodgers threw 4 TDs in the game that gif is from.
>>

words are words and that is what that word means...

Rodgers has Lost 7 postseason games
every single one of those had him gain the lead or tie late in the 4th or put in a near unwinnable situation with his defense letting up 40+ points
his passer rating in those games is actually higher than bradys career postseason rating as well as his rating in the same time frame.

Brady is the only QB with a better Postseason record in Rodgers career (11-6vs19-7)
>>
>>74456295

Rodgers is just so abysmal at playing from behind that I honestly can't see him as a postseason QB. Even Peyton wasn't that bad. Green Bay needs a solid defense for him to even have a chance.
>>

>Rodgers is just so abysmal at playing from behind that I honestly can't see him as a postseason QB
literally one of the worst defenses from behind
Rodgers literally and statistically keeps up even from behind but when the packers D rains it pours...
he has the best postseason losing performance by a QB coming back from 17-0 to tie.

Patrots on the other hand are one of the best coached teams in the league and consistently make great 2nd half adjustments on defense, whereas the Packers are among the worst.

lol because Brady has a long postseason portfolio of wining games when his defense lets up 40~ points and Rodgers gaining the lead late in the 4th quarter is somehow sucking from behind because the Packers defense is eager to spit it out...

the point about playing bad from behind is nott even completely irrelevant. he does do it some, more than Brady admittedly.
a look at the last 2 3rds of 2015 is a great example of him playing soft... AND how he gets his shit together when Postseason hits.
He's never not played his heart out in the postseason
